Did this guy die, i.e., his heart stop beting, or did he just come close to it? There doesn't seem to be any resuscitation efforts involve din his story. Sounds like he had a close call with almost having a near-death experience.
did you ever wonder if because you are atheist God created that reality for you in death? Perhaps because I believe in God that is what I will experience in death. It seems so poetically fir and just!
All human cognitive functions including consciousness are all governed entirely by the brain. It is utterly impossible for our being or psyche to survive physical death.
There is NO metaphysical, non-bodily component of a biological organism. Death is FINAL!
@Tempestni02 No ti is not. Physicists are starting to unravel how the universe, existence, and biological organisms came to be. And it has NOTHING to do with the supernatural.
@Tempestni02 The name of Jesus set me free from alchol and drugs in 1989. This is my experience. If there is an afterlife, which I believe there is,what will the non beievers do then? There is a choice, but not after you die. I pray for people to have an encounter with the jesus I met. I just tell my story and believe it will help change someones life. Peace and Blessings!
@youngdones hahaha we already know how biological organisms "came to be". What we can't explain (and never will be able to) is why their basic building blocks (monomers, amino acids, etc.) were arranged so specifically that they WERE able to come together to form cells. Your statement is obviously uneducated; you're basically saying: "Physicists are starting to figure out WHY we're here", which is impossible to answer of course..
No offense but it sounds like you passed out from lack of oxygen. Did your buddies have an ekg or eeg machine on the side of the pool to confirm that your vital signs had stopped and you were truly dead? I'm glad everything went well for you on that day, best wishes and take care.
@ThinkAboveTheRest612 Read the title, he claims its a near-death experience, not a death experience. Also if you actually die (as in your brains stops working) it is impossible to come back to life, even if we get the rest of the body working, you would still be braindead.
You say NDE's can be explained away by science as non-sense? Excuse me, but if you really knew what you were talking about, you would know that leading edge science is confirming the reality of so called life after death, that there is no real death and consciousness is not generated by the brain, but through it.
@Sphere1957 Qualify this statement. Which 'leading edge scientists' are confirming the so called 'reality of life after death'? What makes a NDE anything more than the brain experiencing a rush of DMT? I'd be interested in reading these reports you speak of (strange that nothing shows up in google)...
i mean we all are animals, we eat, sleep, breath, have sex, crap just like a dog would, do you think dogs have any conception of hell? It is a human-made concept, do you think some untouched civilization in the middle of the rain forest even ponders about Christianity? What it comes down to is being afraid of dying. “I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.” - Mark Twain
This man swam underwater too long and passed out, came back and because he didn't see the light thinks there is no light to go to. It's really not a story about an NDE but a simple denial of anything spiritual existing beyond his own comprehension.
Having nothing happen means nothing at all, most people who are near death have no experience at all, not something to make a broad stroke judgement by.
@Orsigno1 Spiritual? Yes AND no. Definitely NOT in the literal meaning of the word, for I believe in nothing supernatural at all. But it DID make me appreciate life/nature/existence, sometimes intensely. Every year since then has been a "bonus". And that "attitude" HAS led many people, close friends included, into occasionally mistaking it for "spirituality". I was, I think, unusually thoughtful before it happened. It kinda pushed me into overdrive.
# 1 - You had no fear of a punishment or an expectation of a reward after death, being a non-believer, so therefore your thoughts weren’t of an afterlife during your near death experience, but you were never clinically dead, therefore you’re near death experience is typical for a non-believer.
# 2 - There are those that don’t live by the teachings of the scriptures but who do believe or at least conceive that they maybe true, who’s near death experience would be one of calling out in fear of forgiveness. I personally don’t know how I’d react, or what my thoughts would be if I thought I was living my last moments on earth. I do know that no harm could come to those that do call out for forgiveness, if God is true better safe than sorry.
You atheists are going to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord after you die. He is the only way to salvation! The Bible says in Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
@rogofam Jesus was just like you and I. He fasted in nature for as long as enlightenment took. He died and was born again. He then announced that he was the son of god in a time that was so close minded that they murdered him.
Well said, excellent. God loves people unconditionally, but His forgiveness in salvation is conditional upon those who receive Christ as Lord and Savior, (John 1:12) in repentance from sin and faith in Christ--this is what it means to be saved and the result is that people are born again. I know you know this rogofam, but many that may read this do not. Take care, blessings in Jesus.
My dad went to Mexico twenty or so years ago and saw a boy collapse in the middle of the road. He started coughing up blood and seizing, and my dad, in a country dominated by Christianity, was the only one who valued human fucking life. Religious people are two bit pieces of shit when it comes down to it. They have this self perceived illusion that they are superior for believing they alone have earned eternity in Heaven when they turn the other cheek from all the fucked up shit their God does.
You sound like a very intelligent man, and I thank you for making this video. May I ask you a question though? Have you ever sought The Lord? I mean really sought Him, prayed to Him asking if He'll come into your life and show His love and maybe a sign? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. There are of course no guarantee's He'll answer you, but what if He does? What if He does? Think about that. God Bless you.
It's interesting looking through these videos to see whether it's only born again christians having experiences of heaven, everyone else seeing hell, or just a vision that's nothing to do with heaven or hell.
For those who argue that NDEs are created by our own brains... How can our brains create such long and vivid "hallucinations," when there is absolutely no electrical brain activity in many NDE scenarios, such as those of persons who experience cardiac arrest (--EEG goes completely Flat)?
--How can our brains function to create such vivid and memorable "hallucinations," when there is absolutely no brain activity?
@COice The same way they can do it while you're sleeping. Brains don't stop working immediately when the heart sets out, and the way they perceive time changes while they are "inactive" (like in dreams).
This is actually all researched pretty extensively, maybe you can ask your local librarian for advice if you're interested in the subject.
@ac1th The research that I've done reveals that both dreaming and hallucinations stimulate electrical activity in the brain. Search "EEG hallucinations" or "EEG dreams" if you are interested in looking into that further. The problem is: All electrical activity in the brain of a cardiac arrest patient ceases after 10 seconds. So it is not possible for these individuals to dream/hallucinate when they have these intense NDE experiences. So I am still left without a scientific explanation...
@COice I can believe your research ceased after 10 seconds.
Everything stimulates electrical activity in the brain because brains use electricity as sole means to perform all their tasks.
NDEs happen while brains are shutting down from oxygen deprivation, not when they are already dead. If a brain has no electrical activity, it is irreversibly dead and can't be reanimated.
I'm not contesting NDEs possibly influencing peoples lives in strong ways as they evidently do.
@ac1th Look at ww w(dot)horizonresearh(dot)org/main_page(dot)php?cat_id=84. Or type, "The Brain During Cardiac Arrest" on google. It explains: " Studies have shown that due to a lack of heart beat and blood flow there is a cessation of brain electrical activity within approximately 10 seconds ... Brain oxygen levels are then depleted within approximately 2 minutes ... which will ultimately lead to cell damage and then cell death." I thus conclude again: the brain can't be hallucinating/dreaming.
@COice That's not a scientific website, it's from a religiously biased institute. The article you linked does not cite any sources.
That aside, even if what the unnamed author of this unsourced article said was true, the brain would still have a NDE during the first 10 seconds and not remember what happened the rest of the time, like when you're sleeping for 8 hours, dreaming 30 minutes but have no memory of the remaining 7 hours 30 minutes and conclude the dream must have taken all night.
@ac1th The information in that article is correct and it is fairly easy to Google around, doing further research that will tell you the same information. NDE accounts have way too many vivid details and information in them for them to have been from 10-second dream. I understand that our perception of time is distorted when we are asleep, but 10 seconds simply cannot account for the length and vivid amount of detail in an NDE, especially coming from a brain that's weakening and shutting down.
@COice It's not and googling around is not a valid source for anything if you're interested in facts instead of feeling comfortable. NDEs consist of people "floating up" and "seeing a light", that is it. Everything else is dependent on culture and therefore likely an interpretation or interpolation - as long as the muslim NDE patients claiming to have seen the prophet, the mormons claiming to have been on another planet and the hindus claiming to have seen another life aren't all right.
When asked about details about the room an NDE patient floated up in, they'll come up with wrong answers and just describe the room as they actually remember it. If for example you write something on a card and place it hidden from view on top of a shelf in your ER, people having NDEs in the ER will not see the card in their experience, much less be able to describe what was written on it.
@COice So, again, a brain without electricity is dead and done for. NDE patients will have electrical activity in their brain while the experience is going on.
While it might be easy for religious minded folks to latch onto the phenomenon as evidence for whatever they wish (any religion and cult, alien abductions, solipsism etc), it remains uncertain what exactly is going on. We can just be sure that you aren't actually leaving your body while having a NDE.
@ac1th RE: "a brain without electricity is dead and done for."
The Journal of the American Medical Association corresponds w/the link I gave in my last post regarding electrical brain activity during cardiac arrest (asystole).
@ac1th Another source explains: "The first ischemic changes in the EEG are detected an average of 6.5 seconds after circulatory arrest. With prolongation of the cerebral ischemia, progression to isoelectricity occurs within 10 to 20 (mean 15) seconds from the onset of cardiac arrest" (with references to three published studies for that statement). There is enough research solidifying my statement that there is no electrical activity in the brain. So I repeat that these NDEs cannot be dreams...
Some people are born with souls, others don't have them. Only the ones with souls can believe in God, the others are just animals without spirit and therefore can't see the light. That's what happened... (just joking, don't worry)
Hey Phil, you weren't dead. Therefore, your real self (or spirit) did NOT ascend from your body. In my opinion, you DID have a Near Death Experience. In my opinion, those who have been CLINICALLY dead (no heartbeat; you had one..no brain activity..you HAD brain activity & no breathing (okay, you made 1 out of 3) have NOT had a NDE. In fact, they WERE dead; some for as long as 3 days. My point is that you did NOT cross over & therefore you cannot say with any conviction what happens when you die.
Jesus Is the way ,the truth, and the life,No one will go to the father(God) but by him.It does not matter what you think or say you will not change the truth.Unless you repent and receive Christ Jesus into your heart you will spend eternity in hell and the lake of fire burning forever without end.
Ah, he is just miffed that he did not experience the light, only 15 percent of people near death or at death, experience anything and he wasn't one of them so now poo poo's this reality for all.
Read Mellen-Thomas Benedict's profound NDE story. It reveals the eloquent, yet very logical and simple nature of Consciousness/Self/Creation...confirming the Oneness of All. Also read Michael Newton's books. He was a former atheist whose views changed after hypnotically regressing clients, not to childhood or to past-lives...but to life between lives. The experiences related clearly show that 'work' of a very creative nature (ie, we are all Creator) continues after exiting the material world.
This did not follow the pattern of the typical NDE. In other words you didn't describe the usual OBE. Even so, you still experienced the beautiful, sobering effects of a brush with death - the realization that it is in the simple, ordinary things too often taken for granted that happiness can be found.
@sandstone801 thats a contradiction because the bible say Jesus is God. And it said Moses saw God descend on the mount in the Torah. Its either Jesus is God or its a trinity u choose.
@AlienUFOEncounters Dude first point Yeshua is the same as saying God just to put that out there. And he didn't have to say he is God if you read the whole bible. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God and the word became flesh. He also said that if you don't believe him you can't believe Moses because Moses wrote about him. The whole book is about him read! If you saw a guy having sex with another guy do he really have to say he is gay or do u see signs?
@nbnf21 dude first point yeshua was his name not god his mother didnt call him god she called him yeshua . so what enoch wrote of him too he is th eliving word , THE WAY an example but your missing the point too much dogma you do know your jesus was anti church , anti organized religion anti government
@AlienUFOEncounters I could careless for the government they make up these things that make no sense and they put it into the brains of mankind. Practices that were valid 2000years ago are trashed today because of what the government allows and doesn't allow. And to your thing with Yeshua like I said he didn't have to admit he is God if you read the book you would know. If you think God would allow the bible to be corrupted then your a false follower. Their is no saviour but God.
@AlienUFOEncounters Thus saith The Lord Yeshua: "If you have seen Me, you have seen The Father." Also "My Father & I are One." Also, "Before Abraham was; I Am." Remember, "Tell them my name is "I Am that I Am?" I could go on & on, but what's the point. What I've given you here is more than sufficient. An egg is the white, the yolk, & the shell. Such is The Divine Trinity of God: The Father, The Son, The Holy Ghost.
I saw on discovery a program called Surviving Death and a man that fell into a very cold water and died for 3 hours said that after fighting to get out and realizing he was not going to succeed, he simply surrendered to death... and he said the sensation was the best he ever had!
His whole basis for this video is to taunt the "ignorant" believers that there is life after death and basis his proof on this due to not having a spiritual NDE experience when he passed out from lack of oxygen. Thing is, only a percentage of individuals who are near death have such experiences, yet he bases his whole theory on a small piece of the puzzle from his own experience.
By the looks of your interests, making of runescape videos, and continuous flaming of people with every single comment , I would have to think you are under the age 13 so I won't bother explaining.
Well you are one immature 18 year old. And it took me less than 20 seconds to get all that info and it took one click. Pretty far from creeping. Seems like you are embarrassed by your profile.
even if he did have a nde is perfectly normal for an atheist to not go to heaven since their souls are dead...thats called ethernal death is in bible ....if he would it seen heaven then i would said ok somethings defenetly wrong here why is he getting such a luxury.
@TheBestEVER4LIFE yes blame him for the influences of his life.. moron I would like to see what religion you'd be if you were brought up never knowing about god.. you don't naturally think there is a god.
an atheist not seeing heaven doesnt prove shit!! theres been ppl that see something and theres others that havent but he nearly died he was never dead completely so who knows if there was a heaven...1 cant never grow up without hearing about God is impossible 1 thing is not wanting to know him cuz you believe is fairytale but at 1 point everyone heard of God it was just matter whether you chose 2 believe in him or not...God sees deeds thats y i believe if theres a heaven some atheist will see it
@TheBestEVER4LIFE no sir, I am saying that your bible has a lot of false contradictory bullshit in it that you shouldn't base any morals off of, seeing heaven doesn't prove anything? Okay yes thats true, but we haven't ever even seen god.. so what is your point here? Oh yah trying to promote judgement and stupidity.. gtfo.
ok you getting mad cuz i got mad at fact this dude didnt have a nde he just passed out and he trying to tell other ppl God dont exist !!..you cant see god cuz you dont want too but god is all around you and you right! many religions are at fault for some ppl not believing in god and also use religion for power so i dont blame you nor i force you to believe in god. i believe in god but also believe that some atheist will go to heaven i believe good deeds is whats important 4 the soul.god bless u
@TheBestEVER4LIFE okay not blaming you for your perspective but not going to heaven implies a hell or judgement.. and heaven implies you are christian.. so jesus the son of god sets an example that no one is to be judged.. he relieves everyone of their "sins" because people act according to the conditions of the world around them.. so these people are supposed to not go to heaven because of the conditions they are born into?
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:16-19
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
HELL IS REAL!!! If we have lied, stolen, hated someone, looked with lust, had sex outside of marriage, used profanity, etc., we are guilty and in danger of spending eternity in hell after this life. However, that is not God's desire for us. Christ came from heaven to take our punishment on Himself and die on a cross. Three days later He rose from the dead and now commands us to turn from sin and trust in Him. See my video titled “Warning:Four Types of People Headed for Hell”
“For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The LORD will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:30-31 NKJV
He made Lot of common sense.when You die ,you will die according to nature, the Human body stops living, and there notting more to it.don't Believe in something we all supposed to take as actaul fact.of people wrote more than 2000 Years ago! Your dead and thats the end of the story!
Will you be innocent or guilty? Will you go to heaven or HEll? It is most definately Hell. Does this concern you? If so I would like to communicate about this because I care.
Does that make you feel good? ... to threaten people and pretend that you're a good person. You feel god's love blooming from your own deluded and willfully ignorant ego.
You don't even want to learn the truth about reality.
HI Phil?, I listened to your story. Since you did not actually die you have not experienced death yet. God's Word says, "It is appointed for man once to die and then the judgement." Have you ever told a lie, used Gods name as a curse word, lusted, hated, stolen something. The according to God's laws you are a liar, adultarour, murderor thief. You will need to give an account on judgement day.
What are we without our beliefs. I mean seriously it goes back to critical thinking skills and you not having any. Who in their right mind would want to talk someone out of a belief system (creation or athiest) that they are happy with?! Who would be that arrogant? Hmmm...Oh wait by your own admission you would be. Don't project ur creationist angst on me. Boohoo, you can't change a creationsist mind and they can't chane yours, you guys deserve each other.
Great that you told your story! Long live Youtube and long live you!
I think this story is enormously insightfull in all these near death experiences where people claim to have met Jesus and whoever, great to see that people can survive a near death experience and keep their brains intact.
I didn't learn anything from this, he was a kid, how knows if what he remembered was even accurate to the experience. If he didn't have the title athiest has an NDE, no one would click on this or care.
@castmcc He probably would have remember naming 'God' or 'Zeus' or 'Vishnu' or whatever. Also, he happens to have a large pool of subscribers, so your last sentence is wrong. You might like his other videos, like 'Science saved my Soul'.
@gininginin First off anyone who says "you are wrong" to someone's opinion on a commentary board is hard to take seriously. If you are so intolerant of other's opinions, prove that I "am wrong" Do you know how many adults don't even remember that they were sexually molested as a child b/c of repressed memories? You think they would have remembered their fathers penis in their mouth according to your logic.
It's easy. If you make a false claim, you opinion is wrong. Pointing a mistake is not intolerance. You are free to make any opinion you like and you are entitled to it. But your statement that 'no one would click on this or care' can be proven false simply because there *are* people that enjoy watching his videos. I don't understand why you make such a fuss about all this, even claiming intolerance. About the repressed memories, you are right, that's why I said 'probably'.
@gininginin This is the second time you have shown horrible logic. Someone's opinion is not a "false claim" and for you to prove me wrong you'd have to show that people would have clicked on this video despite the title. B/c of the title people who normally would not have been interested, clicked on this b/c it's linked to other NDE's that really go in depth. You have to prove this wasn't a factor in people clicking on this and you can't b/c it's my very experience!
Honestly only a moron would try to "disprove" someones opinion anyways. Learn to distinguish the difference b/w a stated personal opinion and someone positing something as fact like what would happen in a college text book. A kid's memory can be so flimsy that even in a court of law it's not given as much weight: "The judge will have final say in how much weight should be given to a child's testimony; the testimony of older and more mature children, obviously, will be given more weight."
@castmcc I only disproved because you asked me to, if you want to include a 'moron' in this situation I think you are looking at the wrong situation. There is nothing wrong in saying somebody made a mistake, quite the opposite, because there is value in learning. I am a scientists, and I have learned a lot by people telling me *how* I am wrong, specially at reviews. I hope you are able appreciate that (from here looks the opposite). I won't respond to any more comments, good bye.
@giningininOk what you aren't understanding is you didn't disprove me. I have a hard time believing you are a scientist. You have a poor grasp on logic & the scientific meth. unless ur one of those scientists for a pharmaceutical co. I majored in bio. in college, does that mean I am going to try & tell people that my opinion has more wt than theirs? If people want to think this is great, that's fine but I think trying to prove this person can perfectly recall his NDE as a kid is beyond u
" You have a poor grasp on logic & the scientific meth."
As you said, that's your opinion. From my perspective, it was a simple reduction ad absurdum. (assume nobody -> I am different from nobody i.e. set is non-empty -> contradiction). I hold a masters computer science and have published but that is beside the point. I see that you are confused as to my position, I haven't claimed that 'this person can perfectly recall his NDE as a kid'. So we likely agree but you haven't noticed.
@gininginin I have seen the most educated people with the poorest critical thinking skills. You can QED and quote latin until the cows came home. The point is you said I was wrong and you can't prove it so it's your problem. Thank god freedom of speech isn't dependent on having been published or we'd be even worse off. Modern science is the new catholic church which tries to dictate people's beliefs even when it doesn't fall under a laboratory's jurisdiction like spiritual things and opinions.
Suddenly it seems that you "have a poor grasp on logic & the scientific method". Have you really done modern science?
"The point is you said I was wrong and you can't prove it so it's your problem. "
You say nobody, I said no because somebody. It's simple, really. This would be a waste of time but I am curious about your 'interesting' notions about me, science and logic. And I have already told you we agree on the rest.
@gininginin Have I really done modern science? What kind of question is that? Don't try to boil it down to you saying one simple thing, you said many things. You're delusional, like all psuedo scientists you pay attention to the one thing you want to pay attention to and ignore the whole, ignore patterns, ignore anything that can't be measured by a machine.
It is an honest question. Since you make such a controversial statement as "modern science is the new catholic church" it seems you have a poor understanding of the scientific endeavor. Anyway, after you implied that I: am a 'moron', with 'poorest critical thinking skills', 'so intolerant', and lastly 'delusional', this conversation has stopped being interesting to me. You discussion approach is not far from a creationist's, and I had plenty of those.
" you want to pay attention to and ignore the whole, ignore patterns, ignore anything that can't be measured by a machine."
Absolutely hilarous lol, an excellent example of unsubstantiated assumption about me. Now *that's* pseudo scientific! But as I said, I have better things to do now... research to do. Good luck!
Why wouldn't you not Want to believe god when all that he does is promote love generosity morals values that won't budge if you do not believe in god you are robbing your life from any meaningful purpose why would you want to believe that you are just going to die and lay in your grave for eternity instead of believing that there's a heaven that will exceed your expectations!
@TheTrolologuy Scientists have proven no such thing. I would highly recommend that anyone here read "The Purpose Guided Universe: Believing in Einstein, Darwin and God" written by the astrophysicist Bernard Haisch.
there was this women who saw a shoe above the roof when she was out of her body. and when she came back she immediately told them check what's above the roof. and amazingly that shoe really was up there!!
drowning victims do not die soon ,and can survive for up to 45 minutes and be revived without brain damage. That is because the body in birth, has a reaction in water to send all available oxygen to the brain. So, this was not likely a near death experience, but just passing out unconscious.
I'm thankful you made it through your near death experience, however I'm sorry you still don't believe in God. Have you ever thought the warm, bright sun was God? Please pray for God to come into your life, it sounds like He was giving you a second chance at life. I do agree w/less is better and to laugh alot, funny and ironic, Jesus said the same
Food for thought: considering most believers believe that god is an omnipotent-conscious being, the atheist who just spoke now had a time of weakness. if i were god, this would be the perfect time to speak to him. God let that chance slip up, and this young boy grew up into a stronger willed man.
This is a great story, but can't be confirmed as an NDE. Simply losing consciousness doesn't count. Have done that, and it was not an NDE. I'm looking for a story about someone who was clinically, verifiably dead for a significant period of time, and came out with the same worldview as you. If you know of such, please forward it to my YT account. Tnx. † <3
@BlackJaPanther You can check online the story about Pamela Reynolds, or check youtube as there was a BBC special about her experience. Her neurosurgeon was a Dr. Spetzler - he and his team of surgeons go to great length discussing her case. They came away from this case convinced she had experienced something. If you review her case, I think it requires a bigger leap of faith to consider that her experience did not involve an out of body experience ' of some sort '. I strongly recommend it.
@dsindc That Pam Reynolds experienced something is not argued, what is disputed is the time at which she experienced it and the state of her brain at that time. This could be used to prove the existence of a soul, that's why it's important, and why it's so unlikely.
@BlackJaPanther What you are looking for is not a near-death experience. You are probably looking for a death-experience, which is where the brain is totally inactive, yet someone has an experience.
If you ever find one as I doubt you will considering all the evidence we have points to experiences being a result of an active or partially active brain, I would also like to hear about it. Thankyou.
You should also know there is a difference between clinical and permanent death, theres a wiki page.
question to all atheist's,how can we tell right form wrong or good from evil without a transcendant signifier?????answer me that. Why is their something rather than nothing?
@DoGZiLLuh Your questions are interesting. You argue that if there was no concept of god as the epitome of good, humanity would have no way of deciding whether something was good or bad. I argue that the things that are good are those which cause the least amount of suffering to the fewest beings. We can measure the amount of suffering experienced by, say, a cow when it is slaughtered, or a human when they are hurt some way. If god did not exist, this suffering would not be diminished.
@EdsEnemy What I understand from my own research into NDEs, is that the prevailing message is: We are here to experience corporeal life including pain, woes, evil, so that we can understand human weakness and so our energies, or souls, can evolve, through our physical limitations and imperfections. There is evil because there is good. Everything that happens has a ripple effect on others, and, good or bad, it all happens for a reason. There is an order to the Universe, behind perceived chaos.
@phezmom1 So you say that we have corporeal bodies, but this somehow is transmited to an immaterial soul? If the soul is totally immaterial, and the body totally material, how could they interact?
There is an order to the universe, it's called natural law, and it explains everything we've come across without having to rely on a supernatural soul or god.
There is not evil because there is good, things just happen according to natural law, and we are the judge of how good or bad they happen to be.
@EdsEnemy as you also know, even though we cannot see them, atoms exist, and everything in the physical world is made up of energy on the atomic level. What seems solid, really isn't, when broken down in that manner. Do you believe in the "Big Bang"? If so, where di all of that unimaginable energy that comprised the creation of the universe via that method, come from?
@EdsEnemy No, what I am saying is that our soul is the consciousness that exists separate from physical structures and basic "software" (autonomic and sympathetic nervous system actions). It is what makes you unique, apart from the basic physical structure and "software" that controls the physical structures. I am sure that you are aware of the Law of Conservation of Energy. Physical metabolism changes to decomposition, but the energy that is our consciousness also changes...
@EdsEnemy BTW, it is refreshing to discuss opposing viewpoints with someone on YouTube who is logical and doesn't degrade the discussion to "F--- You"...lol. @phezmom1 Thankyou phezmom1. Even though we cannot see individual atoms are directly, we can measure them. If the soul cannot even be measured because it does not physically affect the material universe, how can it interact with the material universe?
If the soul as a consciousness was separate from the brain, why are there no recorded instances of experiences during periods of zero brain activity. The personality or soul is a result of the way uour brains are structured and operate...
@EdsEnemy There are many accounts of experiences during no brain activity, as I have told you. Research it, as I have...I have never been one to cater to blind faith, so my conclusions have been the result of my own research, not what organized religion has told me. You would be surprised at how soon electrical brain activity ceases after blood flow ceases. I understand scientific method - that is what I have faith in, above all else. Read the studies. Decide for yourself.
Did this guy die, i.e., his heart stop beting, or did he just come close to it? There doesn't seem to be any resuscitation efforts involve din his story. Sounds like he had a close call with almost having a near-death experience.

All human cognitive functions including consciousness are all governed entirely by the brain. It is utterly impossible for our being or psyche to survive physical death.
There is NO metaphysical, non-bodily component of a biological organism. Death is FINAL!

JWeed83 2 months ago
# 2 - There are those that don’t live by the teachings of the scriptures but who do believe or at least conceive that they maybe true, who’s near death experience would be one of calling out in fear of forgiveness. I personally don’t know how I’d react, or what my thoughts would be if I thought I was living my last moments on earth. I do know that no harm could come to those that do call out for forgiveness, if God is true better safe than sorry.
JWeed83 2 months ago
You atheists are going to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord after you die. He is the only way to salvation! The Bible says in Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Well said, excellent. God loves people unconditionally, but His forgiveness in salvation is conditional upon those who receive Christ as Lord and Savior, (John 1:12) in repentance from sin and faith in Christ--this is what it means to be saved and the result is that people are born again.
COice 3 months ago
@COice are you basically saying you do not know why therefore spirituality or religion is true and accurate.
LogicalStatements1 3 months ago
@COice The same way they can do it while you're sleeping. Brains don't stop working immediately when the heart sets out, and the way they perceive time changes while they are "inactive" (like in dreams).
This is actually all researched pretty extensively, maybe you can ask your local librarian for advice if you're interested in the subject.
ac1th 3 months ago
@ac1th The research that I've done reveals that both dreaming and hallucinations stimulate electrical activity in the brain. Search "EEG hallucinations" or "EEG dreams" if you are interested in looking into that further. The problem is: All electrical activity in the brain of a cardiac arrest patient ceases after 10 seconds. So it is not possible for these individuals to dream/hallucinate when they have these intense NDE experiences. So I am still left without a scientific explanation...
COice 3 months ago
@COice I can believe your research ceased after 10 seconds.
Everything stimulates electrical activity in the brain because brains use electricity as sole means to perform all their tasks.
NDEs happen while brains are shutting down from oxygen deprivation, not when they are already dead. If a brain has no electrical activity, it is irreversibly dead and can't be reanimated.
I'm not contesting NDEs possibly influencing peoples lives in strong ways as they evidently do.
ac1th 3 months ago
@ac1th Look at ww w(dot)horizonresearh(dot)org/main_page(dot)php?cat_id=84. Or type, "The Brain During Cardiac Arrest" on google. It explains: " Studies have shown that due to a lack of heart beat and blood flow there is a cessation of brain electrical activity within approximately 10 seconds ... Brain oxygen levels are then depleted within approximately 2 minutes ... which will ultimately lead to cell damage and then cell death." I thus conclude again: the brain can't be hallucinating/dreaming.
COice 3 months ago
@COice That's not a scientific website, it's from a religiously biased institute. The article you linked does not cite any sources.
That aside, even if what the unnamed author of this unsourced article said was true, the brain would still have a NDE during the first 10 seconds and not remember what happened the rest of the time, like when you're sleeping for 8 hours, dreaming 30 minutes but have no memory of the remaining 7 hours 30 minutes and conclude the dream must have taken all night.
ac1th 3 months ago
@ac1th The information in that article is correct and it is fairly easy to Google around, doing further research that will tell you the same information. NDE accounts have way too many vivid details and information in them for them to have been from 10-second dream. I understand that our perception of time is distorted when we are asleep, but 10 seconds simply cannot account for the length and vivid amount of detail in an NDE, especially coming from a brain that's weakening and shutting down.
COice 3 months ago
@COice It's not and googling around is not a valid source for anything if you're interested in facts instead of feeling comfortable. NDEs consist of people "floating up" and "seeing a light", that is it. Everything else is dependent on culture and therefore likely an interpretation or interpolation - as long as the muslim NDE patients claiming to have seen the prophet, the mormons claiming to have been on another planet and the hindus claiming to have seen another life aren't all right.
ac1th 3 months ago
@COice Here's the science:
When asked about details about the room an NDE patient floated up in, they'll come up with wrong answers and just describe the room as they actually remember it. If for example you write something on a card and place it hidden from view on top of a shelf in your ER, people having NDEs in the ER will not see the card in their experience, much less be able to describe what was written on it.
ac1th 3 months ago

Read: jama(dot)ama-assn(dot)org/content/244/24/2750.short
"Cerebral electrical activity was lost within 15 s of asystole and returned almost instantly on resuscitation."
So if not 10s after asystole's onset, then 15.
Brain's not "done for." These NDErs can't be dreaming.
COice 3 months ago

COice 3 months ago
@ac1th Another source explains: "The first ischemic changes in the EEG are detected an average of 6.5 seconds after circulatory arrest. With prolongation of the cerebral ischemia, progression to isoelectricity occurs within 10 to 20 (mean 15) seconds from the onset of cardiac arrest" (with references to three published studies for that statement). There is enough research solidifying my statement that there is no electrical activity in the brain. So I repeat that these NDEs cannot be dreams...

Hazlitt57 3 months ago
Hey Phil, you weren't dead. Therefore, your real self (or spirit) did NOT ascend from your body. In my opinion, you DID have a Near Death Experience. In my opinion, those who have been CLINICALLY dead (no heartbeat; you had one..no brain activity..you HAD brain activity & no breathing (okay, you made 1 out of 3) have NOT had a NDE. In fact, they WERE dead; some for as long as 3 days. My point is that you did NOT cross over & therefore you cannot say with any conviction what happens when you die.

No1warp9 4 months ago
This did not follow the pattern of the typical NDE. In other words you didn't describe the usual OBE. Even so, you still experienced the beautiful, sobering effects of a brush with death - the realization that it is in the simple, ordinary things too often taken for granted that happiness can be found.

I didn't learn anything from this, he was a kid, how knows if what he remembered was even accurate to the experience. If he didn't have the title athiest has an NDE, no one would click on this or care.
castmcc 6 months ago
@castmcc He probably would have remember naming 'God' or 'Zeus' or 'Vishnu' or whatever. Also, he happens to have a large pool of subscribers, so your last sentence is wrong. You might like his other videos, like 'Science saved my Soul'.
gininginin 5 months ago
@gininginin First off anyone who says "you are wrong" to someone's opinion on a commentary board is hard to take seriously. If you are so intolerant of other's opinions, prove that I "am wrong" Do you know how many adults don't even remember that they were sexually molested as a child b/c of repressed memories? You think they would have remembered their fathers penis in their mouth according to your logic.
castmcc 5 months ago
@castmcc
About the repressed memories, you are right, that's why I said 'probably'.
gininginin 5 months ago
@gininginin This is the second time you have shown horrible logic. Someone's opinion is not a "false claim" and for you to prove me wrong you'd have to show that people would have clicked on this video despite the title. B/c of the title people who normally would not have been interested, clicked on this b/c it's linked to other NDE's that really go in depth. You have to prove this wasn't a factor in people clicking on this and you can't b/c it's my very experience!
castmcc 5 months ago
@castmcc
Proof: I clicked. Q.E.D.
I think we both have better things to do... good luck!
gininginin 5 months ago
Honestly only a moron would try to "disprove" someones opinion anyways. Learn to distinguish the difference b/w a stated personal opinion and someone positing something as fact like what would happen in a college text book. A kid's memory can be so flimsy that even in a court of law it's not given as much weight: "The judge will have final say in how much weight should be given to a child's testimony; the testimony of older and more mature children, obviously, will be given more weight."
castmcc 5 months ago
@castmcc I only disproved because you asked me to, if you want to include a 'moron' in this situation I think you are looking at the wrong situation. There is nothing wrong in saying somebody made a mistake, quite the opposite, because there is value in learning. I am a scientists, and I have learned a lot by people telling me *how* I am wrong, specially at reviews. I hope you are able appreciate that (from here looks the opposite). I won't respond to any more comments, good bye.
gininginin 5 months ago
@giningininOk what you aren't understanding is you didn't disprove me. I have a hard time believing you are a scientist. You have a poor grasp on logic & the scientific meth. unless ur one of those scientists for a pharmaceutical co. I majored in bio. in college, does that mean I am going to try & tell people that my opinion has more wt than theirs? If people want to think this is great, that's fine but I think trying to prove this person can perfectly recall his NDE as a kid is beyond u
castmcc 5 months ago
@castmcc
So we likely agree but you haven't noticed.
gininginin 5 months ago
@gininginin I have seen the most educated people with the poorest critical thinking skills. You can QED and quote latin until the cows came home. The point is you said I was wrong and you can't prove it so it's your problem. Thank god freedom of speech isn't dependent on having been published or we'd be even worse off. Modern science is the new catholic church which tries to dictate people's beliefs even when it doesn't fall under a laboratory's jurisdiction like spiritual things and opinions.
castmcc 5 months ago
@castmcc
"Modern science is the new catholic church"
Suddenly it seems that you "have a poor grasp on logic & the scientific method". Have you really done modern science?
"The point is you said I was wrong and you can't prove it so it's your problem. "
You say nobody, I said no because somebody. It's simple, really. This would be a waste of time but I am curious about your 'interesting' notions about me, science and logic. And I have already told you we agree on the rest.
gininginin 5 months ago
@gininginin Have I really done modern science? What kind of question is that? Don't try to boil it down to you saying one simple thing, you said many things. You're delusional, like all psuedo scientists you pay attention to the one thing you want to pay attention to and ignore the whole, ignore patterns, ignore anything that can't be measured by a machine.
castmcc 5 months ago
@castmcc
"What kind of question is that?"
You discussion approach is not far from a creationist's, and I had plenty of those.
gininginin 5 months ago
@castmcc
Good luck!
gininginin 5 months ago
Why wouldn't you not Want to believe god when all that he does is promote love generosity morals values that won't budge if you do not believe in god you are robbing your life from any meaningful purpose why would you want to believe that you are just going to die and lay in your grave for eternity instead of believing that there's a heaven that will exceed your expectations!

@TheTrolologuy uh excuse me that is a flat lie.
greenhornet123 6 months ago
@TheTrolologuy Scientists have proven no such thing. I would highly recommend that anyone here read "The Purpose Guided Universe: Believing in Einstein, Darwin and God" written by the astrophysicist Bernard Haisch.

so is this guy still a non believer?

Verdict is still out in regards to which, if any, chemicals are affecting the brain during an NDE. Either way, they are very fascinating.
jl4e23 6 months ago
drowning victims do not die soon ,and can survive for up to 45 minutes and be revived without brain damage.

Great story Phil!
In a war documentary that I saw, A former Japanese soldier said:
"The American soldiers cry out to their mothers when they're dying,
Just like our soldiers do". I thought that was very touching.

Food for thought: considering most believers believe that god is an omnipotent-conscious being, the atheist who just spoke now had a time of weakness. if i were god, this would be the perfect time to speak to him. God let that chance slip up, and this young boy grew up into a stronger willed man.
Rikimusha 7 months ago
You not dead you just fainted.
sinar57 7 months ago
@sinar57 What is death other than the lack of consciousness brought about by the lack of activity in a physical brain?
The author of this video neer claims to have died, as this is a near-death-experience, not a death-experience.
EdsEnemy 7 months ago
I love how this video ended. Thanks for sharing.
CanvasForWords 7 months ago
This is a great story, but can't be confirmed as an NDE. Simply losing consciousness doesn't count. Have done that, and it was not an NDE. I'm looking for a story about someone who was clinically, verifiably dead for a significant period of time, and came out with the same worldview as you. If you know of such, please forward it to my YT account. Tnx. † <3
BlackJaPanther 7 months ago
@BlackJaPanther You can check online the story about Pamela Reynolds, or check youtube as there was a BBC special about her experience. Her neurosurgeon was a Dr. Spetzler - he and his team of surgeons go to great length discussing her case. They came away from this case convinced she had experienced something. If you review her case, I think it requires a bigger leap of faith to consider that her experience did not involve an out of body experience ' of some sort '. I strongly recommend it.
dsindc 7 months ago
@dsindc That Pam Reynolds experienced something is not argued, what is disputed is the time at which she experienced it and the state of her brain at that time. This could be used to prove the existence of a soul, that's why it's important, and why it's so unlikely.
Check /watch?v=-InhxLzORzM
Thanks.
EdsEnemy 7 months ago
@BlackJaPanther What you are looking for is not a near-death experience. You are probably looking for a death-experience, which is where the brain is totally inactive, yet someone has an experience.
If you ever find one as I doubt you will considering all the evidence we have points to experiences being a result of an active or partially active brain, I would also like to hear about it. Thankyou.
You should also know there is a difference between clinical and permanent death, theres a wiki page.

question to all atheist's,how can we tell right form wrong or good from evil without a transcendant signifier?????answer me that. Why is their something rather than nothing?
DoGZiLLuh 8 months ago
@DoGZiLLuh Your questions are interesting. You argue that if there was no concept of god as the epitome of good, humanity would have no way of deciding whether something was good or bad. I argue that the things that are good are those which cause the least amount of suffering to the fewest beings. We can measure the amount of suffering experienced by, say, a cow when it is slaughtered, or a human when they are hurt some way. If god did not exist, this suffering would not be diminished.
EdsEnemy 8 months ago
@DoGZiLLuh Suffering, in itself also raises questions about the nature of god: one quotation commonly attributed to Epicurus reads:
“Is God willing to prevent evil [or suffering], but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil [and suffering]?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”
There is more information on the wiki page on "the problem of evil", which you can read if you want.
EdsEnemy 8 months ago
@EdsEnemy What I understand from my own research into NDEs, is that the prevailing message is: We are here to experience corporeal life including pain, woes, evil, so that we can understand human weakness and so our energies, or souls, can evolve, through our physical limitations and imperfections. There is evil because there is good. Everything that happens has a ripple effect on others, and, good or bad, it all happens for a reason. There is an order to the Universe, behind perceived chaos.
phezmom1 7 months ago
@phezmom1 So you say that we have corporeal bodies, but this somehow is transmited to an immaterial soul? If the soul is totally immaterial, and the body totally material, how could they interact?
There is an order to the universe, it's called natural law, and it explains everything we've come across without having to rely on a supernatural soul or god.
There is not evil because there is good, things just happen according to natural law, and we are the judge of how good or bad they happen to be.
EdsEnemy 7 months ago
@EdsEnemy as you also know, even though we cannot see them, atoms exist, and everything in the physical world is made up of energy on the atomic level. What seems solid, really isn't, when broken down in that manner. Do you believe in the "Big Bang"? If so, where di all of that unimaginable energy that comprised the creation of the universe via that method, come from?
phezmom1 7 months ago
@EdsEnemy No, what I am saying is that our soul is the consciousness that exists separate from physical structures and basic "software" (autonomic and sympathetic nervous system actions). It is what makes you unique, apart from the basic physical structure and "software" that controls the physical structures. I am sure that you are aware of the Law of Conservation of Energy. Physical metabolism changes to decomposition, but the energy that is our consciousness also changes...
phezmom1 7 months ago
@EdsEnemy BTW, it is refreshing to discuss opposing viewpoints with someone on YouTube who is logical and doesn't degrade the discussion to "F--- You"...lol. If you would be interested in my own experiences that have led me to my conclusions, I would be happy to discuss it with you via email.private messages, because reply space on this venue is so limited. :)
phezmom1 7 months ago
@phezmom1 Thankyou phezmom1. Even though we cannot see individual atoms are directly, we can measure them. If the soul cannot even be measured because it does not physically affect the material universe, how can it interact with the material universe?
If the soul as a consciousness was separate from the brain, why are there no recorded instances of experiences during periods of zero brain activity. The personality or soul is a result of the way uour brains are structured and operate...
EdsEnemy 7 months ago
@EdsEnemy There are many accounts of experiences during no brain activity, as I have told you. Research it, as I have...I have never been one to cater to blind faith, so my conclusions have been the result of my own research, not what organized religion has told me. You would be surprised at how soon electrical brain activity ceases after blood flow ceases. I understand scientific method - that is what I have faith in, above all else. Read the studies. Decide for yourself.
