Once in a while i try to give it a try and actually understand what is GDK compared to DBPro... but i just don't get it. Is it capable of much more? And if yes, how?
Well, I like how the owner actually responds to the comments on the video. =P Question, is this somewhat like a C++ version of XNA? Or is it totally different?
hello. i'm working out our thesis project, im going to develop a game. i need someone to consult to, just wanna ask if anyone here is willing to help me..
nice software --- looks good!!! i just wish I had enough money to buy this in GUI. looks promising and many might switch from YoyoGames GameMaker to this!!! I am thinking of trying this in c++ format.
Can I recommend a feature: RealD and/or Nvidia 3D support? that would be AWESOME!!!
@jmans25 DarkGDK is free. The GUI is Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 express, which is also free. We do support stereoscopic 3D and have done for a long time.
@jmans25 DarkGDK is based on C++ the other other method of developing games without programming or scripting is to use an engine like FPS Creator or 3D Game Maker, obviously those tools can only be developed for specific game types. The advantage scripting and programming gives you, is that you can explain to the computer exactly what you want to happen. Also developing these tools costs us money. Everyone at TGC has bills to pay and family's to support.
True, true. I guess poperety software (3D Game Maker), that is very easier to learn, does have that advantage at earning revenue... but like you said, opened source (DarkGDK) DOES give people more control of what's happening, even though it CAN be tricky to learn, and doesn't earn a revenue (besides donate buttons, or in your case, poperety alternatives).
@jmans25 It does earn a revenue. Once a user has used the free DarkGDK C++ kit to produce their game, they then need to pay us £20 for a commerical license. This royalty free license then allows the user to sell their commerical product. We've also used DarkBASIC Professional (DarkGDK is based on it) to produce our other products, FPS Creator being the most famous.

what has graphics to do with programing :O realy dont see how this game will create graphics. However its bit silly and confusing. Mind to clear it out?
well realy dont see what kind of game u can make with limited graphics, and however I am not wasting more of my time for this. Its just unclear. if u wanna help me out and clear it out for me and for the otehr ppl that might have the same question, than good.
We provide examples with DarkGDK, compile one, and have a look. But at the end of the day, C++ and DarkGDK are only limited by your own talant. If you expect to just sit there and immidately understand everything. Then you have an unrealisic view of programming. Like everything, you get out of it, the work you put in.
ok short tutorial for what you do (not really a tutorial) 1. learn it! 2. plan it to make a good game this 3. draw it is basicly what you would do 4. make the images/models 5. do the coding 6. test it 7. fix it 8. test again 9. check for any errors 10. finish it!

@AMYuntold If I'm not a little late, It just makes the overall framerate higher, and compiles smaller .exe files

Anyone know if this works with VS 2010?

@FlamingVong
Don't try it, it's too hard to get it working. Just use 2008.

@BlueBerryWizard
It will, but you need to do it manually. I recommend you to use 2008.

Then you seriously need to study. There are multiple examples with DarkGDK I suggest you read the code, and it's comments.
