I just bought this amp, and wow, it IS a beast. Came with chinese tubes, so, JJ's gold pin 12ax7's and Sovtek's ELM84 replaced the stock ones, and oh my, it sounds awesome. Also, if you really want to step uo your game, use an EQ6 or EQ10 by MXR on the fx loop and try boosting the dirty channel with a tubescreamer.

this amp is dope, if u r thinking of buying it pull the trigger. I got one last summer and its sweet. The clean channel will break up if u push it to the power section. Overdrive and midrange is great. It does everything, fx loop, channel switching, gain, sweet cleans. Only thing is it is noisy as fuck in my experiences. I am yet to get a noise gate but I need one. But its a do it all amp while still nailing the one trick orange is known for and thats sweet sweet gain.

@PhobeRush at least with my R30, nope. if you're running a lot of gain on the dirty channel, sometimes there will be a small pop when switching to clean, but no latency.

@dripgoss On the les paul there are seperate volume knobs for the neck and bridge pickup. He had the volume rolled down on the neck pickup to give him a cleaner tone, then had the volume cranked up all the way on the bridge pickup to give him the distorted tone.

@shadelmgradel The actual electronics and valves are exactly the same, but the combo has a single 12" Celestion speaker, whereas cabs can have either 1, 2 or 4 speakers (commonly) and can be of different types of speakers. Orange's PPC212 cab goes really well with this amp, but it just depends on the sound you want to acheive. General rule of thumb though, 2 12" speakers give greater depth than a single 12" speaker.
