  • id like the merc the vw is just rubbish

  • How come Top Gear only talks good about European cars?

  • That Corrado reminds me of how M motorsport put the 1M together. Frankenstein car, but still superb

  • honda NSX oh another coupe

  • and mercedes 240 Ce 340 ce another 90s coupe what a tosser

  • the corrado is an ugly car but not as ugly as the new thing ive seen with glass roof or whatever and a front apron like a bib

  • i hate this arse hole banging on about how only 90 coupe that was good was the vw ffs how about the 1990s audi 90 quattro coupe exactly way better than this crappy golf

  • the bmw e36 3 series coupe was a great car in the 90s as well and still looks good

  • Some cars I can think of:

    Acura NSX

    BMW E31 8-series

    BMW 1M

    Mazda RX-7 (FD)

    Nismo 350Z/370Z

2005-2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Limited Wagon and Legacy Spec.B

    Toyota Supra MKIV (esp. Turbo)

  • mmh wer will mit mia schreiben

  • The Calibra is so much better looking, than both those cars!

  • vw coupe.!@#$%^&*()`][={}

  • Yeee. Corrado!

  • but theyre both fugly

  • S2000 is in the list... it's the last lengthwise mounted engine and rear wheel drive platformed car Honda will ever make... or so they claim. IE... it's the last proper sports car they will ever make.

  • Evo and how about an 09 dodge challenger r/t?

  • @727freak the new challenger will never ever be a classic

  • That's Walter Röhrl behind the wheel! I love it!

  • I wouldn't doubt it if someone told me that after the airing of this episode sales of those cars increased noticeably.

  • there are plenty of 90s coupes that arent embarassing:

Celica, fto, eclipse, integra, silvia, 300zx and loads more

  • @Sasori327 Japanese cars were embarassing

  • @hkbfkmb so? who cares? only rich stuck people care if theyre embarrasing or not. the fact is, japanese sports cars go like hell, take shits all over european cars, very cheap and will last decades

  • @Sasori327 So you want to over take someone to try to let them feel embarrassing with your embarrassing car.

And thanks to you if you drive these then Euro car drivers won't feel embarrassing anymore.

  • @hkbfkmb youre just stuck up okay

  • 0:00 to skip ads

  • corrado VR6!!!!!! :D

  • 99 crown victoria

  • i think the 2009 honda civic

  • 190 Evo II !!!!

  • OMG 666 LIKES!

  • i feel like basically anything could become a future classic. who ever thought that 61 ford falcons, 57 pontiacs, or 73 buicks would be classic?

  • there's a dude in my hometown with a yellow VR6 with a supercharger :) it's loud as hell, and I'm guessing it's even faster :P

  • Supra, RX7, 3000GT and others that i cant think of will be Future Classic

  • i know the benz as evo

  • So, 8 years on and have things improved (in financial terms) for either car? No.... Not really. A quick look on auto trader has several VR6's at under £2000. And the Merc? Fared a little better with 5K needed to get the cheapest listed. One other factor the video misses is parts prices. Corrado specific panels cost a fortune, as does anything related to the VR6 engine. The Merc has similar problems, but also self levelling rear suspension which can be mind-blowingly expensive.

  • I think subaru impressa 98

  • Aren't there alot of cars who will be classic's like the Nisan silvia, 300zx, skyline, supra, rx-7, corrado and many more?

  • GM stopped making everything SS in 2009. The Cobolt, the Malibu, Impala... only Camaro still carries the SS flag. I wonder if thos will be worth anything?

  • 1990 BMW M3 [E30]?

  • The 300zx twin Turbo

  • mitsu fto, legendary styling

  • mitsubishi evolution all of them

  • future classics - vauxhall cavalier, mark 1 golf, ferrari 612 scaglietti, de Lorean DMC, rover 75, lancia beta & lotus carlton

  • Pink? It looks more like red

  • rx7 is a classic

  • @RetrezVEVO It was posted in 2008 but aired on bbc in 2003

  • I thought youtube started in 2005!! but his video was posted in 2003!!

  • where was this filmed as in area

  • like classic cars? have you seen the interesting cars on carsboatsandplanes, net lots of pics of very valuable classics

  • I would love to own a Merc 190E.

  • The only thing Hamster got wrong in this vid was recommending getting the MB with a sodding sludgebox transmission, no true *sports* (or sporty) car has an automatic, automatics are for poseurs and wankers, or people too lazy to learn how to drive a proper, real transmission

Sodding slushboxes should be outlawed, unless the driver has a legitimate, medically verifiable need for one

  • real classic are Mercedes-benz w124, w126 and w140 only!

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that starts at 0:17?

  • I don't see how any Japanese box can become a classic...

  • my list: fd rx-7, bnr32 skyline, mk3 supra, iroc camaro and 95 mazda cosmo

  • 95 fd rx-7

  • obviously a lot of you people commenting here are from the USA. i have to tell you something.. asian cars are worthless in europe after a few years. this is the reason why you skyline or supra or which kiddy car you asked for were not mentioned in this video

  • @resomer I don't know about that. Have you checked where the person who commented below your comment is from? The UK.

  • @DrArt1 true. but i my comment was not focused on his but on all comments and people watching this. i justed wanted to explain how the car market in europe works.

    i recommend buying a BMW E30 Cabriolet

  • 1999 Nissan Skyline GTR R34 = classic!

  • Go to your address bar, after the word YOU and before the word TUBE, type in "win" then press enter"

  • 3:23 - 3:32 no danger at all for people watching the race.

  • 2nd Gen Oldsmobile Aurora with the V8. Future Classic all the way, that car is easily the best looking car GM has ever made.

  • @MrJamesonStyles Plus since Oldsmobile no longer exists thats another thing going for it.

  • So Richard also said the same thing about Martin Brundle that James did in that much more recent episode involving the 190E Cosworth

  • Launch video and press 0 over and over :D

  • Whats a Coupay?

  • @Avenger2680 coupe. the e has a tilde above it which gives it the "ay"

  • @Avenger2680 coupé buddy, coupé

  • HAHAHAHAHA those people running out of the way of the audi!

I think that a requirement for a future classic is that it has to look good...

  • That Merc is the car James had in the Track day challenge, His car had a smaller engine tho, the 2.3

  • Pontiac Bonneville Supercharged, future classic.

  • @GunsOfThePhoenix my family has one of those.....its a pile.....pontiac took a potentially great car and ruined it. supercharged v6 admitadly has a good amount of torque but the car is so heavy that it needs a v8 powerplant in my opinion....and front wheel drive? what the hell were they thinking? i have no idea what you are htinking saying that it will be a classic...

  • What about the BMW E30?

  • 27 people bike to work

  • keep in mind 190 hp was ALOT back then corvettes use to run 190 and camaros use to run 145

  • @yuyusuck and corvette z06 198

  • @hamzah336 mph

  • @yuyusuck vettes in the late 80s through the early 90s came in the range of 245 to 403 horsepower, and the base engine in a 90 camaro was 210 horsepower... just saying

  • @killdac im not talking late 80s im tlaking earlier

  • @yuyusuck yeah but camaros and vettes had that power 40 years ago not 20 years ago

  • @yuyusuck and mustangs ran on 250hp

  • 3:25 Are these rally spectators nuts!

  • The 06-07 S4 25th quattro anniversary will be a future classic. only 250 in existence.

  • aaah nooo! a mercedes with a spoiler ooh noo how coud mercedes do that a mercedes with a spoiler!

  • stop it at second 2.

    look at his funny face!!!!

  • @1297golumb lol its funny he looks retarded

  • @1297golumb second 00:40 is the best

  • @1297golumb 0:10 is pretty good too. Gotta love hammond.

  • @1297golumb

    even bettar at 0:04

  • i feel like the saab 9-3 will become a classic because they are starting to die out and only the dedicated can keep it running

  • look at complete edition associated with this specific movie here on a v a t z . n e t remove spaces

  • I like how he says that Martin Brundle called it one of the best chassis int he world, then in season 15 James May used one and they all made fun of him and said he made it up.

  • Nein! Keine automatik!!! That ruins the whole freaking car, and all that potential engine performance loses its purpose... :\

  • Im hoping a 2006 Saturn Ion 3 will become a classic eventually. I know its early to tell, but im hoping!

  • i feel like the 98 supra is a future classic

  • @ACEkilla17 hell it already is

  • @ACEkilla17 its becoming really rare, so it could be a classic, not to mention a fcking beast

  • @ACEkilla17 second 0:04 ***

  • @ACEkilla17 too bad you cant get a cheap one because no one is selling because there is no issues with them

  • @ACEkilla17

    i feel like a g6 !

  • @ACEkilla17

    lolricer

  • @foooooze THE SUPRA IS NOT A RICER ITS A SPORTS CAR, a civic with a body kit and a fart cannon is a ricer

  • @ACEkilla17 also audi tt

  • @LeakerStreet yeah but the auti tt is still around. they still make it.

  • @ACEkilla17 Ah, ok. I shoulda said one day it will be a classic! and I'd like to think my Subaru Legacy will also (I LOVE THAT CAR) Lol.

  • @LeakerStreet yeah id like to think of a future classic is a car that isnt made anymore

  • @ACEkilla17 in my opinion it already is

  • @ACEkilla17 98 supra pffftt i say Nissan skyline GTR r32, and R34, The r33 wasnt the best but those were are and always will be far better then the supra and to add they are much more rare. Have an astoundingly good racing pedigree to those who know anything about them. Not to mention the 90s Mazda rx7 that was a damn good car too. The supra is big bulky and antill u modify it, its downrite ugly. Well to me at least.

  • @wowzinger well i disagree i think the supra is great. i like skylines too, but i cant get one because im in america. i like rx7s too. id really like an rx7 with the veilside fortune body kit.

  • @ACEkilla17 You can get skylines in the states, its not cheap though. Otherwise, if you own property in a country where you dont have to pay an arm and a leg to get one you could keep it there and drive it.

  • @wowzinger

You appear to not know the history of the supra. The Skyline R32 was basically unbeatable in the japanese touring car races for several years in a row. However, the supra was the car that defeated it. The reason it was a legend is because it beat the GT-R. Saying that the R32 is better when the Supra became famous for beating it just sounds silly.

  • @sykku really well the group A racing. the GTR was made for was infact finished it stopped because gtrs only won maybe in another racing class the supra won but the skyling has been proven to always beet the supra stock, but when is comes to moding it jsut matter who has more money. The GTR won 29 races in a row.

It won the JGTC Chanmpion ship 4 times in a row. It was also the first car to race at the Nurburgring and get under 8 minites. i found nothing on the supra beating them.

  • @wowzinger

You just compiled the achievements of the R32 - R34 Skylines. If the supra can be compared to 3 models of the skyline, that just adds more to it's credit. The R32 won JGTC, the R33 was the first car to lap nur in under 8 minutes, and the R34 was the GT-R produced at the same time as the Mark IV Supra to compare. I'm glad that even you respect the Supra by comparing it to 3 models of the GT-R. I'm surprised you are having trouble finding info on the Supra, I recommend a google search.

  • @sykku ya ya sure even on wikipedia there isnt a racing section on the supra the supra has no good racing pedagree its fast but not that fast... lol im done with this i know people are smart enough to see whos wright here.

  • @sykku and i know i did not complet all the achievements not even half of its achievements there is alot more to show. and what facts have you stated on the supras racing pedagre state some of them please please do.

  • @ACEkilla17 subaru impreza rs 2.5

  • both celica and probe are ugly compared to corado and 190e !@#$%... lets take for sample A 190 evolution 2 ,fast ,beautiful looking, and sport spirit !!

  • tell me that a celica gt-four is not a classic already, please. And if a corrado looks better than a probe or a celica than there's something wrong with my eyes because I really can't see where

  • that is another way do 'produce' a classic. funny marketing strategy!

  • I've actually owned every one of the cars mentioned here, the Corrado, (and the Scirroco that came before it) the 190E Cossa and the Audi Quattro. The most expensive was the Corrado, which was fairly newish at the time. Not cos rich, just loved the cars - the Audi cost me more to insure than it cost to buy (late 20's). Damn fine metal, all of them. Also had the Sierra Cossa (hideous fuel consumption) and a Porky 924S. Apart from the VW, less than $3000 each!

  • @Capnwabbit Erm, that's pounds, don't have a pound sign on this keyboard, as I'm in Asia now. My favorite? The Audi. First truly powerful car I ever had - and I loved the way you could floor it at lights in the rain (try doing that in the rear wheel drive Porsche...) Today I drive a little 4x4 Kembara, all throbbing 1300cc of it. *sigh*

  • im american

  • y does the car have window wipers for its light?

  • so what you need to recoginse is 1) good performance, 2) appearance, 3) history, and 4) something about it to start a conversation with.

  • The one car I'm assured will be will be the Acura/Honda NSX

  • @UltimateCydiaSource They're bringing the NSX back - I've got a video about it if you're interested.

I agree with you - in 10/15 years time, the NSX will certainly be a collectable.

  • Any classic American Trucks perhaps in the future? 1980-1990? Suggestions..

  • @CarbonXL el camino?

  • In my opinion, some other future classics:

    Plymouth Prowler

    Chrysler Crossfire

  • @Slipknotyk06 Not the Crossfire - that was such a sales disaster Chrysler were selling them on a spare parts website. And whose bright idea was it to name a car after multi directional gunfire?

  • @NobleM15fan - personally, I'd buy a crossfire myself if I could pick up the money for one. They're great cars, the main problem is they didn't deliver the sport performance that sports car fans expect in a sports coupe. I believe that the sheer scarcity in 20 years will drive up the price of the Crossfire. Even Fieros are rising in price.

I'd like to add an other entry onto that little list:

    Lincoln Mark VIII LSC

  • @Slipknotyk06 I'm not sure about the Lincoln - the only thing I know about Lincoln is that their idea of a town car was an enormous saloon that looked like a brick, and powered with a 5.7 litre V8. Perfect after an oil crisis.

The Crossfire was really just a Mercedes SLK in a different body. It was crap to drive, and it had a really cheap and nasty interior. The cabriolet looked OK, but the hardtop was hideous. If you want to buy one, go ahead. But don't expect it to become a classic.

  • @NobleM15fan - The Lincoln Mark VIII is a 2 door and was the RWD equivalent to the last generation Buick Riviera. It has an Intech 4.6 DOHC producing 295 horsepower. You forget gas prices are about 1/3 here of what they are in Europe.

The Town Car hasn't been powered by the Ford 5.8 since the early 80s.

I personally liked the Crossfire inside and out. The point is it was very different. I do expect it to become a classic.

  • @Slipknotyk06 Not really. It was front engined, just like its rivals, rear wheel drive, just like its rivals, it has a V6, just like its rivals, and it was available as a convertible, just like its rivals. How was it different? The point I'm making is that it came out at the same time as the Mazda RX8, Nissan 350Z and the Alfa Romeo Brera. Just because a car doesn't sell very well, doesn't mean it'll be a classic. A Porsche 928 (which was a good car) is today only worth about 20 thousand.

  • @NobleM15fan - The styling was different. The suspension setup was radically different. The Buick Reatta was a HUGE flop when it was in production, but it's climbing back up in value (it's hard to find one under 3 grand) and the Cadillac Allante was a huge flop but it's hard to find one under 10 grand now. Scarcity helps a vehicle a long way in recouping value. Then, if the vehicle has a following (like Mitsu 3000 GT VR4) It will reclaim value very quickly.

  • @Slipknotyk06 That is true, but if the car is scarce because it was rubbish, then that won't make it desirable. Car which were flops at the time have become classics - Jaguar XJ220 and Lancia Thema 8.32 are now considered classics. The Crossfire was awful really. The fact was it was outclassed by pretty much everything. It wasn't as pretty as the Alfa Romeo Brera, it wasn't as fast as the Mazda RX8 and Nissan 350Z, and it wasn't as well made as the Audi TT.

  • @NobleM15fan - Well, the Alfa wasn't sold here. The Mazda was subject to a recall because the exhaust passes too close to the gas tank and caused fires. The Mazda RX series is the only production car to have problems with fires in every single last generation. The Nissan in my opinion has horrible styling on the outside. Audi TT was a thoroughbred chick's car that was almost 10 K more expensive here. It's an expensive Beetle to me.

  • @Slipknotyk06 I'm with you on the TT - but the RX8s sold in Europe never had that problem. They were well received, and even now it is considered to be the best sports coupe for under 30 thousand. The Nissan 350Z is ugly, and it sounds awful, but it is a good drive.

The fact with the Crossfire though, is that it didn't do anything we haven't seen before done much better. In 10 years time, no one is going to be saying "Ooh, I really fancy an old Crossfire."

  • @NobleM15fan - Maybe not so much in Europe. In America, there are people paying 40-50 grand for an original DeLorean, and that was a ridiculous flop with horrible reliability problems. If people will pay that for the DeLorean, they'll start bidding up Crossfires in a couple decades. I strongly doubt the Crossfire will catch the DeLorean in value, but they'll increase at a faster rate.

  • @Slipknotyk06 I think the DeLorean is worth that much, because it's the only car made in Ireland. According to an Irish comedian it drove "like a bus with wooden wheels". For a car to become a classic it has to be rare and interesting. The Crossfire is rare, but purely because no one wanted it. It wasn't interesting though.

  • @NobleM15fan The Ford Edsel is considered one of the ugliest cars ever, and a huge flop for Ford. Yet, they command huge prices nowadays. So it's a hit and miss thing.

  • @tehmaster690 That is true, but what about the Pinto? That was a huge flop as well, and that's not considered a classic.

  • @NobleM15fan - The Pinto continues to have a bad reputation therefore suffers from decreased demand. The Gremlin competed against it and has much higher value. The Pinto will always suffer like the Yugo and the Chevy Corsaire, because Consumer Reports single-handedly spread the notion that these are "Unsafe at Any Speed"

  • @Slipknotyk06 Other cars that were flops that aren't classics - the Chevrolet Corvair. That was so bad, the US government nearly banned rear engined cars.

  • @NobleM15fan - I've actually driven the Chevy Corvair. However, you have to understand the fucking car to drive it. Each tire has a specific tire pressure then it handles just as well as the MR2 15 years later. It's a great car, it's that people don't understand the freaking car. It was a swing axle design that works great when the tire pressures are dialed in. It's just not a very idiot-friendly car like the stuff you have today.

  • @Slipknotyk06 I'm sorry to say this but I really don't agree with you. If it was a great car, why did it cause the US government to consider banning rear engined cars outright? And I've been through some classic car magazines - never once, ever, have I seen a Corvair advertised.

  • @NobleM15fan - I actually doubt what you're saying is even true. The Corvair was built toward the end of the production run for the DeTomaso Pantera. Also, the Beetle survived past the end of the production run.

I don't think that action was truly ever on the table. Even the idiots at Consumer Reports wouldn't have pushed for that, so I'm calling your statement out as untrue.

  • @Slipknotyk06 Even if you don't like to hear it, it is true. I found out about it when I was doing research for my video about the Porsche 928. There was talk of it, but it never got anywhere near being passed.

  • @NobleM15fan - I don't think it was ever put up for vote. It may have been in consideration in committee, but that's where you squash ideas, before special interests get to them.

Anyways, at least you're not tryin to tell you totally absurd cars like the Saturn SC2 will be classics :-P

  • @Slipknotyk06 No probably not. But in a way I'm grateful to the Corvair - the rumours of the ban on rear engined cars meant Porsche made one of my favourite classic cars ever - the 928.

Some cars gain value over time, some lose it. The Jaguar E Type and Corvette Stingray are worth more now than when they were new. But a Peugeot 205 GTI and Ford Pinto aren't worth very much at all. It's very hard to know which is which at the time.

  • @NobleM15fan - Most of the time it becomes more apparent when the cars are about 15 years old. Right now, Cadillac Allante is skyrocketing in value. 2 years ago they were about 8 grand last year 10, now, 12-13. It's unreal. Also, the Ford Taurus SHOs are starting to increase in value slightly (97-up)

  • @NobleM15fan The Pinto (And yes, the Corvair) both were produced and sold in very large numbers. In the case of the Edsel, it was supposed to be a middle tier luxury car, and the sales were very underwhelming for Ford, who predicted people would buy it by the dozen. And, of course, it's just not a very good car. The Edsel wasn't a bad car by any stretch, it just looked horrible.

  • @Slipknotyk06 "They're great cars, the main problem is they didn't deliver the sport performance that sports car fans expect in a sports coupe."

that's the nice way of calling it a piece of shit. why would you drop 40k on an unsporty sports car.

  • @CalvinVr6 - It's NOT calling it a POS. There's a difference between a thoroughbred sports car like the Ford Mustang and a sporty car like the Ford Probe or Hyundai Tiburon.

The crossfire (I'm guessing this is what you're talking about) is probably going to drop all the way to 8 gs or so before starting to rebound in value (they're still at 13-15) but these were luxury sporty cars, not entirely unlike the last generation of the Thunderbird. That's what they were to compete against.

  • @Slipknotyk06 the ford probe and the tiburon are pieces of shits as well.

  • @CalvinVr6 - Ford Probe, I agree. Tiburon, it depends on the year. The original Tiburon evolved from the Hyundai Scoupe. The Hyundai Scoupe was a sporty-looking Accent that had plenty of mechanical issues in the early 90s. The first generation of the actual Tiburon was insanely ugly, with the typical Hyundai problems. After they changed to their current body style, they did far better mechanically. However, they're definitely not classics.

  • I have an automatic 190E 2.6 inline 6 from 1990 and I hit 120 mph with the thing one night on the freeway after the car has been stored in a warehouse for 8 years. I whooped a GTI and M3 along the way. Later some guy offered me $10,000 for it and told him to go screw himself :) I fucking love my car!

  • 1994-1996 Chevrolet Impala SS....American Classics Are The Best

  • @ganee6a - The problem with that one is it's actually a pretty common car and shares platforms with the old Caprice if I'm not mistaken. Those aren't going to rise in value nearly as rapidly as less common cars. My picks for American future classics going for big bucks on the auction block are going to be Chrysler Crossfire (quite possibly this generation's Cadillac Allante) and Plymouth Prowler (way overpriced, but iconic styling)

  • skyline will def be a classic

  • @PtoKaze13 - Not in America. Maybe in other nations where they're (slightly) more plentiful, and NOT ruined by tuners. The 64 1/2 Mustang is worth about 4X as much when it's stock with #s matching on engine, transmission, carb, and all body panels.

  • @Slipknotyk06 so?

  • @PtoKaze13 - I think they're going to stagnate in value.

  • this is a program to rich people, most people dont have money even to eat.. shame on you
