oh ok lol yea i was just going by what the heads are advertised at on the box lol. so basically they lie on the specs? good thing to know bc im looking for a new head for my car thx for the info:)
nice setup but my question that puzzles me is that why youd waste an amp thats rated that low to drive deck speakers. most heads supply well over 50 watts rms(decent MOSFET based ones) im looking at a lanzar on amazon now 75 bucks and its 500x4(2000 total watts) im looking for 5 1/4s that can handle that rms(playing it safe)
@kittyfanatic1980 hello. You have a couple of things mixed up. Most headunits will output about 50 MAX POWER watts x 4 to all of the 4 car speakers as well as about 17 watts RMS POWER to all 4 of the speakers. These ratings are different. The sony speakers are rated to handle 75 watts of RMS POWER each which is no where near the 17 watts of RMS POWER that the headunit will deliver to each speaker. Thats why I bought an amplifier that outputs about 65 watts of rms power to each speaker.
youre an idiot. get a crossover, take the bass off of those speakers, snd put it on a sub. you're pushing them too hard and you'll get a more evenly defined sound with a PAIR OF 10" SUBS.
@legolaray I already have a 10" sub and my headunit's high pass filter is set at 120 or 140hz. This was just a test vid to see what the speakers can do.
No I don't! Isint it hard to do? And how does this amp Sony XM-GTX1852 Amplifier 1000watt to 2 10 inch Sony xplods 300 watt rms and 1000 watt sub? Is tht safe? And will it be good in a ported closed box?
i think i got the same speakerss i got the 270 watt x plods at wallmart they look the same but why caint i get them to hit hard like these? are they still breaking in:) hit me back up i would aprichete it!
stoked. Just ordered these for my front 6.5 spots on my 2003 bonneville. Already got two kicker 6x9's on the rear deck and im ordering the matching xplod 5.5 for my rear doors. How does it sound when its not bumping? Im planning on getting a sub too so these will be used just for the mids and high's.
@mrhitman911 haha NOT EVEN CLOSE lol, you need real subwoofers driving lots of power to make your hair stand. i have 2 15" RE Audio subs on 2400watts and i cant do it. yet i shake my truck apart. lol
@ItAintChemo if your looking to amp these & not get a sub woofer for bass, I wouldn't get these. The materials dont put out good low sound. Buy a speaker thats made of real rubber. BUT if your are going to use LPF at about 100hz or so, go for these. The highs are very clear. You must amps these btw to get a good sound out of them.
I've got 2 speakers build in my boombox. its powerded by a 30 watt home amp. I sounds pretty nice but when i turn up the volume. my speakers start to smell. when i put my van in front of it i don't smell it anymore. But my speakers have a input of 120 watts max. Any one have idee's how to get more bass/ volume out of it? My speaker room is sealed btw.
I have the sony "X-Plod" amp. Got given it for free. I put a pair of vintage alpine 4 way speakers in the back, however i am yet to find the other two for the front. There is no room for anything more than a 4 watt tweeter in the dash, as my car did not really come with a big emphasis on music haha (a tape player, fm/am radio/ and 2 tiny tiny speakers, taht look like they are made of tissue paper, and broke when i turned them up. Anyway nice video :) Ill make one of the alpine's soon.
@KevinGoldsberry It would be pushing out 50W RMS while the speaker itself can handle 75W RMS but not sure about the max power the amp is sending. It would be in the 100-150W range im assuming
Two of my friends have these speakers in about the same cars, one is a 1999 Malibu the other is a 98 cutlass. Same thing. My friend w/ the Malibu has them amped. But one w/ cutlass runs em off his head unit. There is a BIG difference in sound. They sound awesome for only 60 bucks at Walmart.
sounds tight, alot of people give shit to Sony car audio, saying they aint as good or shit quality because they do to many other things and cant concentrate on good audio quality, load of shit, Sony started out in audio technology, the first transistor radio in japan was built by Sony. Then all there awesome hi-fi stereos in the 80's 90's 2000's. They are first an audio company that just branched out into other things, playstation, tv's phones etc,
@perryschutte Depends on both what you can afford, and what you'll be running. On the lower end, sony is easily the winner. Sonys usually are rated at 93db, meaning it doesn't take much power to run them. They provide better highs, but pioneers are a bit better on the mids. NOW when you get to their top of the line, pioneer dominates. You buy a 6 3/4 pioneer premier for 150$ or so, and you'll be saying sony wah? 100 rms, properly sealed, and you may not need subs.
@cutthroatmafia4 for two speakers (one box) i've seen em' go for 55 to 120. depends where you get them. Make sure you amp em' if you want the same sound.
@midomansour1 Yeah its has high and low pass filters. I dont know the S/N ratio but check rockford fosgates site. it will be on there. your amp looks like it was designed for subs without a HP filter.
Actually the RMS on these 6x9's is 100w RMS.. These are three way right? In your description you say 4 way. Or are you talking about your front speakers???
Thanks. I think they are good for midbass I actual use them for my highs and mids. The high are more clearer than the sony 3-ways that I have up front. The midbass is good b/c to me they are not boomy or anything like u said. I only have one amp that I use for my sub so the bass isn't that strong off the headunit which is ok though b/c I have a sub. I havent heard other 6.5s in person (alpine or RF) but I like the sound!
If you want a lot of bass coming from these speakers you need to an amp. if you dont care about how much bass comes from the speakers these are ok. My amp was sending approx 50watts RMS to the speakers. They will take 75 watts RMS. An aftermarket head unit will only send about 18 watts RMS to the speakers which will not allow the speakers to produce as much bass as in this video. I have another vid with just my sony headunit powering the speakers. There isn't as much bass in that vid.
Nope my sub was unconnected from my amp as you can see. To power my sub I bridge my amp which only requires two wires to be hooked up to the amp. There are four wires black speaker wires running from the amp which are powering the two GTX sonys.
Well aftermarket speakers especially these 4-Ways generally aren't designed for producing big bass. That is what subs are for. I use them for my mids and highs with my sub. I wouldn't get them if you don't have a sub woofer in your car because they might let you down especially if your car speakers right now have bass but they might need to be replaced or something. They produce a good amount of bass with an amp though. Also make sure you use an aftermarket head unit as well.
oh ok lol yea i was just going by what the heads are advertised at on the box lol. so basically they lie on the specs? good thing to know bc im looking for a new head for my car thx for the info:)

@kittyfanatic1980 when pairing amplifiers & speakers just consider/match the RMS ratings (average ratings) and not the peak power ratings.
