  • I would giggle just like the girl did if he sat close to me and said his magnificent jokes... Oh god, i just thought about it... i would faint...i would TOTALLY FREAK OUT

  • I'm always shocked when actors say they didnt read the material.. seems so lazy... then again if I were an actor I'd avoid it too.

  • the girl really starts gettin' giggly everytime rubber ducky's around 0:02 3:37

  • I love the first Sherlock, it's a fantastic film! I cannot wait for the second one! He plays such a great Sherlock I think though because Sherlock was wierd and RDJ is slightly wierd in life, it makes it more realistic for the film! Absolutly love Robert! <3 :D

  • @XxxxxCluelessxxxxX You're telling me to grow up? what a joke. Apparently you have no idea what 'love' is about cause you only judge people on how 'hot' they look. pfff poor girl

  • This is a very good film, I viewed it online for free in HD here: viewfilmsfree {.} com

  • I just saw it yesterday and is easially one of the best movies that i have seen this year. RDJ was amazing and I loved all the flashback things. Me and my friend quoted from the movie the entire ride home. My favorie line has to be in the beging when Watson tells Sherlock to wear a jacket and Sherlock replies "you wear a jacket." I laughed so hard!! I'm seeing with my dad again soon it is soo good-and funny!!

  • This movie will not disappoint. I saw it and it was the most spellbinding, on the edge of you seat type of movie. All the actors were great. You will not waste your money going to see it. The theatre I went to was sold out and the 5 pm movie ticket I had to buy early for the Holmes movie. Inside te theatre was a line to get in, and every seat was filled. It was funny, exciting, intelligent. DemonicGman the movie wil not disappoint!!

  • Rubber Ducky Jr <3

  • this film looks so good. i hope it doesn't disappoint. Like so many other movies do. Best parts are always the trailer, hope not with this.

  • ...love interest?

    Sherlock.

    Holmes.

    Can.

    Not.

    Feel.

    LOVE!!!!!!!

  • Holmes+love interest=failure. Every time.

  • Amen.

  • Watson excepted, of course.

  • Comment removed

  • No, I mean the obvious and very deep love that Holmes has for Watson. In a purley non-homosexual way, of course.

  • Ah, of course. Heterosexual life partners.

  • Sigh, only Hollywood would get a jew to play Sherlock Holmes, how predictable.

  • why does that matter

  • Sherlock Holmes was completely asexual. In the book he states his intention to NEVER marry or date.

  • he acidentaly got punched in the face

  • robert duckey

  • OMG can't wait!!!!!

  • this movie is going to be pure crap.

  • Next: Al Pacino as Sherlock Holmes Robert DeNiro as Watson.

    Can't wait.

  • It specifically states in many Sherlock Holmes books that he could never love a woman... Irene Adler is the only one who beat him, and he didn't love her either...

  • "Are you a fan of sherlock holmes?"

"Everyone who has read them is a fan"

    "Have you read them?"

*pause* "A couple..." That means his agent gave him a briefing.

  • use character names and setting from source material + explosions and slow motion fight scenes = Reinvention.

God, Downey and Law just sound like dicks. Paying homage to the originals? wtf???

  • Holmes only admired Irene. She outwitted him. He respected her for that. Holmes never loved anyone.

  • Is the woman with the short hair playing Irene Adler?

  • Yepp

  • robert downey jr and guy ritchie.. enuff said

  • Omg, Robert Downey Jr. Is so awesome

    =D

  • I think Robert Downey Jr. will make a great Sherlock Holmes. He proved in Iron Man that he could play an intelligent smartass that can also handle himself in a fight if need be. If anything I would say that Robert will make Sherlock Holmes more well-rounded

  • What? Jude law didnt speak about the GENIUS of Jeremy brett as SH!!!!???

The one and only credible SH is Jeremy Brett, please watch him and see what I mean.

  • The love interest in the movie is Irene Adler, a character from the original stories who Holmes referred to as "the woman." If Holmes were to have a love interest, it would be her. As for the cocaine/opium addiction, it's so not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Holmes' drug use was only mentioned in one or two of the stories I read, and only because it was "trendy" at the time. Doyle abandoned it when it stopped being shocking. And Holmes always did kick butt.

  • I'm not sure i want to see this portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. It doesnt need reinventing...Robert D......?

  • RDJ is so so sexy

  • If they're staying true to Conan Doyle then why does he have a love interest? Holmes (as sad as I am to say this) was a mysogynest he hated or had a very low opinion of women. (I hate it when movies try to sex things up that don't need it) still gonna watch it, if nothing else because for once they're doing a fair take on watson

  • Right...they are staying as true to the Sherlock legend as JJ Abrams stuck to the creations of Star Trek...gimme a break

  • lol Downey jr at the end 'Aww my god you're killing me with that'

  • man of man. I wonder if it is in the actors contract to suck up to their costars as well as to the film companies, because they are almost convincing.

and I will probably like this movie, but they are not reinventing the character, they are making him acceptable and understandable to the paying customers. basically it has become a British "Lethal Weapon" film.

  • they're not reinventing the character because they are staying true to the depiction conan doyle originally intended

  • trust me...as long as robert downey jr doing his thing ,this film will be great...

  • I don't expect this movie to be like the book. but from the trailer, I think it would be great!

  • The biggest thing that Sherlock Holmes and Robert Downy Jr. have in common is that they both love cocaine.

  • Haha; maybe that's what attracted him to the part.

  • Sorry to correct you there buddy, but Holmes did opium...different drug.

  • He does both cocaine and opium

  • This isn't new-- it's just Lord Darcy Investigates with different names. That's not a bad thing. Probably the closest we fans of Lord Darcy will ever get to seeing him and Sean on the screen.

  • I have read every single Sherlock Holmes story and when I reached about 16 years old I read the final book which was when Detective Holmes is on the case of Jack the Ripper and for some reason I saw Robert Downey Jr portraying Sherlock Holmes and Killian Murphy as Jack the Ripper and I am very surprised that Robert Downey Jr is taking the role so I can't wait to see the movie.

  • Cillian would make a fine RIpper. For that matter, his character's name in RedEye was a play on that name.

  • oh wow you people complain about every little thing, you haven't even seen the movie and your bitching about it, you people seriously need to lighten up and pull the sticks out of your asses, I'm pretty sure this movie will be great, and btw it's probably going to better than the others since they're actually staying more true to the books with this film...

and FYI star trek was awesome.

  • He is ridiculous. Fan is not just someone who read couple of books about Sherlock Holmes, by the way, if he read only couple of them, he, obviously, is not a fan of Sherlock Holmes. This movie is about someone else, but not Sherlock Holmes.

  • how many sherlock holmes books have you read?

  • I read all stories about Sherlock Holmes.

  • from the trailer its seems more likely that this movie's depiction of holmes is accurate and stays true to the books. alot of people think holmes is spose to be stiff and stuck up but thats not true... those people are reading it wrong

  • Yeah. Holmes was able to fight very well, that is true, but it was not his main an d only skill. He is so unique because of his deduction skills (sorry for my poor english). And it seems that in this movie his deduction skills was not revealed..

  • i love robert downey jr. <3

  • espero q este buene xq yo lei todos los libros y soy fanatico sherlock holmes

pero ya de una medicuenta q esta mal hecho.

sherlock holmes no era divertido y no andaba con las minas ,estas producciones del orto de hollywood q verrguensa

  • never reinvent or you will be seen as a murderer as i hope to see this move and be plesantly supprised i dont really see this as a high explosives sort of book he was intended to die in a water fall so there could be some action....but explosives and so forth is a wee bit of a strech luck to them tho i really hope this is good

  • You're right JackTraven, I agree with you.

  • This could be the best Holmes movie ever made.

He's finally got the update he deserved!!!!!!!!!!11111

  • House M.D. is the update Holmes deserved, not another Pg-13 action-adventure Mummy-wannabe.

  • This is not sherlock homes it is just a more marketing to win more money, trying to do insult the culture of the book if they want to make a movie of Sherlock is better if they tray with the first book A STUDY IN SCARLET

  • agreed...the best story i ever read...Study im scarlet !!

  • Wow... I can almost bet this movie will be worse than Star Wars Episode 2. Sherlock Holmes is a classic series of novels and so do not need Hollywood to reinvent it. And, Scardy, you have it absolutely right... I hope Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law cry themselves to sleep at night after making this atrocity.

  • Why is this movie called Sherloc Holmes? What's the connection? don't get it....

  • jude law -

"i met him and he was a lovely man...."

kinda struck me weird when he says this.

  • Oh dear lord...

    ROMANCE???

Watson, sure, he was a romantic, was even married twice.

Holmes, however, was a misogynistic a-hole with no regard for societal niceties and a very Victorian disdain for the female mental capacities. You want a re-imagining of Holmes? Watch House M.D.

Lots of people have written and re-written Holmes over the past century. I'm sorry, but this is not boding well for real Holmes fans who have a sense of the character.

  • It'd be intolerable to treat it as a separate entity, wouldn't it?

  • To be fair, if you were going to put a romance in at all it would have to be what they are doing: Irene Adler. The one he referred to in the book as "the woman," the only woman who seems to have left much of an impression on Holmes. I could certainly imagine some attraction there-- I think some is implied. Then again, I wouldn't mind pairing him with the person with whom he had the most chemistry and the most affection in the books: Watson.

  • I appreciate these people's efforts in trying to make Sherlock Holmes's character appeal to modern audiences, but couldn't they have done it in keeping with his personality in the book? I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of disappointed people who, having never read the books, are going to go home and read them, inspired by the movie, and find Holmes is nothing like they were shown.

  • I think you're wrong, they are just showing some aspects of the charecter never explored on film before.

  • It's good that they're showing some aspects of his unexplored character, but I think they could do it in a way that's more in keeping with the way we know him. Holmes would never have fallen in love, but here he is with a scantily clad woman.

  • I don't think he has fallen in love, maybe there is some romance but in the end Irene Addler is only trying to trick him , at least that's my understanding from the script I read.

  • Holmes only respected the mind, and Victorians saw women as brainless, wilting wimps. As a victorian, he had no respect or patience for women. except Irene, because she managed to outwit him.

  • Sweety, Holmes is one of the most explored characters around. (That sounded wrong)

As for his views on the "fairer sex" it was well explored in the books, and movies. Young Sherlock Holmes has the most interesting explanation, but really, His disdain for women is purely victorian.

  • I will definitely watch it! Totally to the period of Sherlock Holmes.

  • I'm sorry this is an absolutely terrible depiction of Sherlock Holmes.

The Tetley Tea Chimps would have done a better job. Oh wait a minute the acting is just like the chimps. No thats insulting the chimps.

When the actors actually admit to not knowing Sir Arthur Conan Doyles works. You just know you're going to get less than favourable results.

Straight to the bargain bin film. Just like Guy Ritchies last few films.

  • They may not have been familiar with his work before, but they also said that they read the books to prepair for the film.

  • I agree. Much like when that hack J.J.Abrams who had no previous knowledge of affection for the source material, bastardized a long standing franchise with that glossy drivel (Star Trek). American audiences are mindless. I mean, why develop a good story when they'll just drool at sex, violence and CGI?

  • i was hoping it would have been the " hound of baskerville" or at least the " red headed league" but apparently this looks like holmes on a rampage ....i hate it when they REINVENT characters to the point it's not recognizable anymore....sigh

  • This could be bad or pretty good. I'm leaning towards bad though. Right off the bat, they're giving Sherlock a love interest. Holmes wasn't interested in romance at all, why would he have a love interest? That makes me think they're going to turn this into a typically shallow blockbuster style movie.

  • You are totally correct.

  • Those girls (brown hair/blonde) had no clue what they were talking about at 0:42 . She kept on avoiding eye contact and making up BS. What's the name of the girl with the brown hair? I can tell she'll get a Razzie for sure. What an airhead.

  • I see the words "Sherlock Holmes" there, but this doesn't have ANY resemblance to anything Conan Doyle wrote. Who is making this garbage?

  • I guess guy ritchie is probably readapting the movie franchise of the 1940s and 50s - doesnt holmes stop an atom bomb from blowing up in one film or something? - they shouldnt be associated with books (although tenuously of course by origin) and I'd draw a parallell between james bond films and the differentiation between the source literature.

  • Wasn't Holmes a highly skilled pugilist as well as a heroin addict?

  • Yes to both, but not a bare knuckled brawler. more of the "gentleman's sport" as it was in the Victorian era. Different sort of thing entirely.

  • clearly no one's read the books....

  • I doubt many today have. Doyle is a little long-winded for today's audiences.

  • dr watsons...ahehehe,,likes the one narrates everything...but holmes really has an excellent analytical prowess.

  • excellent casting, unusual but excellent...

  • if the story script directing is good. it will rock. because RDJ is an amazing talent.

  • haha you can tell rdj is lying when he says he read them before

  • I can't wait for this... I love Sherlock Holmes so it'll be nice to see the story and see if they make it so its a trilogy.

  • Finally, I've been waiting for a Sherlock Holmes film since I was very young.

  • I can hardly wait for this film. I was very skeptical upon hearing Guy Ritchie would direct, but all factors considered (all factors meaning the excellent Robert Downey Jr and company), it would be hard to go wrong with this fresh take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved character.

  • Jude Law's mustache looks a bit fake or is it real?

  • I think jude law is an awesome watson, really watson is the hidden hero and main character of the holmes series. Holmes is more like the sidekick as watson i the narrator

  • Personally, I can't wait to see this - RDJ and Jude Law will be good, and even if its not sticking to the original stories, RDJ normally brings something amazing to any role he plays.

  • if i had cast this i wouldve gone with brendan gleeson(mad eye moody from harry potter) to play watson

  • nah, i think jude law is a perfect fit

  • "My name is Rubber Ducky Jr."

    HAHA ROB. he's funny :)

  • I agree with the Jude Law thing, he is more of a leading man kinda actor so being watson seems weird but, with RDJ as the lead anyone could be watson

  • I LOVE Sherlock holmes but I feel that this movie is going to be a complete bust. It pains me that most of the actors do not really know much about the stories besides what they have read in the script. Holmes is a dark haughty character that has an underlying sense of pain in the stories. He is not "dirty" or "raw" and I don't think RDJ can pull of the darker side of Holmes, if it is even written in the script. This "bad boy" thing they seem to be going for just will not work :(
