Why be a Christian? Did Jesus tell me to be a Christian? This was incredible. I've never heard the Bible broken down and reasoned out quite like this before. I competely reject typical christian fundamentalism (which I was raised in) but the concepts here are much more appealing and make much more sense to me personally and rationally. If I believed what this guy believed I wouldn't be going to a building in a purple shirt in a dog colour every Sunday talking about being nice to people. I'd be getting on with my life convinced that Christianity was irrelevant and Jesus was a nice guy who we should stop talking about.

Why be a Christian? Did Jesus tell me to be a Christian? Jesus said, "No man comes to the Father but by me" yet when asked where I might find him, Jesus tells me, "When you did these things for the least of my brothers you did it for me". So the path is to love and relieve suffering, not to believe some religious idea. Its not in the mind at all. And its not about me getting something, be it forgiveness or salvation or anything else.

Churches are not "holy." The only evidence of heavenly ordination is the word of those leading, who too often abuse the trust that is placed in them. Why not start with the Bible, the actual reading and study of it, rather than being sheep; or goats, as I see in churches today.

Your mistake is believing that Jesus said "upon this rock" and thinkling he meant "Peter", when, in truth and actuality, he was telling Peter that the REVELATION OF WHO JESUS IS (the Son of the Living God) is THE ROCK upon which all "faith" is established. Everyone knows "who" formed the Christian religion concept, the Catholic church and the "scriptures" they chose and those they rejected, which forms the basis of all Christian religions and denominations existing today. The founders of the Catholic church were NEVER commissioned by Jesus to do anything nor represent him or his "gospel." We have been lied to and remained in ignorance for most of our lives. Religious belief too closely resembles belief in Santa Claus (the experience of belief).

That's the difference between catholicism and protestantism. Protestantism is based on faith and Bible whereas catholicism on what you do and how you behave. In protestantism you believe God is "a paternal figure outside" whereas in catholicism you believe God is "a treasure inside".

What a refreshing voice in the Christian community. Yes, the church know very little of sexuality. The Bible was written by people and therefore inspired by God. I wish more people were this intellectual about their faith. He comes off as very non-judgmental.

Did you ever read the part where God sent an angel to stop Abraham from killing his son? Probably not. You just wanted to take certain parts of the Bible and ridicule it, when you didn't even the read the whole story.
