i use a asus g53sw to play this game. 460m is overclocked to 800/1600/1510. i play with everything on max, but the shader is on high. the shader is what eats my fps. so try that out. see if it works for ya.
@SplodgeOfCheese well i gota have AA on to make it look better. and i dont see how im bottlenecking my cpu, i got an amd athlon x4 645 3.1ghtz quad core, and i got 6gbs of ddr3 ram, got a brand new 520w psu which is more than enough for my card
@SplodgeOfCheese omg it got worse. it seemed to increase precess withdraw the more i played. i had to keep turning down the settings. eventually it was all on low/ 1280x960 and i was getting average 30fps but in combat it would drop to 21fps, and this is in lowst settings. wtf! i can play BF3 on ultra but i cant play crysis on medium settings now?
@spunkflunk i remember i had a problem with my old motherboard, it wasn't qualified motherboard for my proccessor so it ran at 2.27 GHZ it was q9550 and me too, i got same fps even on low of lowest settings. after i changed to qualified motherboard proccessor eventually started functioning properly and i could overclock this to 3.2. problem solved.
@SplodgeOfCheese your a dumb fuck who shows fps and records with fraps at the same time lets say u get leik 500fps but fraps limits it to 60 then WHATS THE FUCKEN POINT
Wow,the performance is actually quite disappointing. I was expecting it to outperform my Mobility 5870 (desktop 5770), but my card is so close to this it's actually disappointing.
@Raptor015 I think he used Fraps to record the footage, and Fraps takes down the FPS so the performance you see in the video might not be the real speed.
@DudeOfManyNames Confirmed for truth actually... I recently got a GTX 460 and it outperforms my laptop's 5870 by a fairly wide margin, even when paired with a Q6600.
Anyhelp? I want to play high end games such as crysis 2 and BFBC 2. Should I get a GTX 460? Also I need to get a better PSU, Any recommendations?
I feel that the GTX 460 is somewhat cheap and yet has amazing performance, especially when overclocked. (30% BETTER PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!! TOTALLY AMAZING)
@SplodgeOfCheese Thanks, I already got the GTX 560 ti and the corsair HX650w. Works like a dream. Now I just need to upgrade my case before my card blows up.
@clarencelanguage1 my gtx 460 plays crysis 2 maxed out at around 50 fps no problem, 65 fps overclocked...keep in mind it depends on ur processor as well...id recommend a quad core
Also look at Rosewell, they have some nice PSU's. The cyclone will handle anything that you can throw at it, but the EVGA GTX 560 Ti is 150% more powerful than the Cyclone at only 125% the price.
@coolmnk Id say 460 if you get the money. A 5770 is slightly better value performance, but the 460 handles DX11 much better and has better drivers and is faster and OC like a beast.
@coolmnk Save your money and don't buy anything lower than a gtx560. New dx11 games that will hit the market this year will make anything lower that a 560Ti a toy. trust me on that.
my crysis 2 runs at 100 fps, the maximum graphics and recording with fraps .. , 30 fps is poor, and I think he did a small overclock and have graphic anomalies ..., something is wrong
im considering buying this video card but before that i wanna make sure that its worth it, sorry for the inconvenience, by the way if u dont mind another question do u know witch power supply should i get if i buy this card?
@SplodgeOfCheese I'd say he should get a better PSU for future upgrades. I'm going SLI with my GTX 460-1gb soon hopefully, and SLI is pretty power hungry. Besides, if the rest of his PC is power hungry too then he'll need a pretty big one that won't blow up, and I hope he knows not to buy un-branded PSU, honestly you can find 850W PSUs that give out not even half the stated power for like £30, who are they trying to fool? Really?
@FloorZeroStudios For SLI, a 650W is the min for 460s really. But if you want to OC and SLI, i'd say 750~850W.
And yeah. Seasonic, antec and corsair are the best options. Read reviews. Remember, if you get a cheap PSU, it will not work very well and thne your whole system can break.
@SplodgeOfCheese Precisely. The PSU is possibly the worst thing to buy cheap, because if the PSU blows, then you risk the whole system going down with it. Seventeam PSUs have some great reviews too, they're not top brands like Corsair or Antec but they look pretty promising for reasonably priced units, read up on them if you got the time, all of the reviews I've read on their units are very good ones. OCZ look pretty reasonable too. =]
im considering buying this video card but before that i wanna make sure that its worth it, sorry for the inconvenience, by the way if u dont mind another question do u know witch power supply should i get if i buy this card?
@SplodgeOfCheese the settings r the same, but when i run with fraps it drops to 15 fps :x how is ur frame-rate without fraps? i mean 30 with fraps is playable so without it i guess it would go to 40 or 45 maybe?

@juultje2000 more than just one thing after you installed new hardware bios applay default settings(sort of safemode)you need to find your hardware (save)maximum
and you need to think before you buy something
i have core i3 540 stock 3,07 ghz overclocked to 4,1 ghz(with thermaltake cooler that i bought with the money saved from not buying i7(and alot of beer)
my window ram and cpu score went from 6,7 to 7,5 bij ajust dram timings from 8-8-8-22 to 7-7-7-20

spunkflunk 1 month ago
@spunkflunk Well AA takes a big chunk out of your fps.
You won't be bottlenecking your CPU, but your CPU may be bottlenecking your graphics card (I am not sure about this).
Are you using three sticks of RAM? I thought it was better to run it dual channel (2 sticks). Only i7 supports triple channel.

should i get 2x 8400 or one 460?
TheSkittlesNerd 10 months ago
@TheSkittlesNerd one 460.
I am not sure if it is faster (go check online somewhere). But it has DX11 support and will be cooler, quieter and have lower power draw.
General rule is always go for a more modern card. There are many advantages.
SplodgeOfCheese 10 months ago
@SplodgeOfCheese Could i use all three cards?
TheSkittlesNerd 10 months ago
@TheSkittlesNerd Not really. What do you currently own?
If you already have a 8400, you could use that as dedicated physx, and buy a 460 for graphics.
Or you could sell the 8400 and buy an even better card.
