People often don't understand what is meant by freedom of speech in the constitution. It is about congress and laws. There is nothing in the constitution to prevent being fired for what you say, you just can't be arrested. Basically you can stand on a street corner.. say things.. without disturbing the peace. No one has to like you.. listen to you or whatever. It's a bummer in many cases (like this one), but that's the way it is.
What a croc that anyone would have came close to getting fired! Besides, no one knew where exactly these were coming from. I'd turn around and sue the city/county if I got fired for telling the truth.
I didn't loose my job, but I have heard that there was a medic that got fired in a southern state for something similar. What ever happened to freedom of speech?

@descsuit ...we cannot exercise "freedom of speech" while we're on-the-clock. That's not our time, we sold it.
