Have you plugged into a plexi type head or into a cab with 25 watt Celestion greenbacks.Try it and post a vid if you can.It sounds pretty good to me with that POS mic.
... which is part of why your tone sounds like you have a blanket over your amp. I'll give the benefit of a doubt and assume your camera mic isn't exactly hi-fi, but to be honest, I've never understood what people (esp a lot of Gibson/humbucker players) have against treble - as if note clarity is a bad thing o.0
Not trolling or trying to pick a fight here - YOU sound good - it's just a pet peeve of mine, I guess. Thanks for posting!
@yobhsiFehT I'm a Fender/single-coil player, but keep the bright switch on my BFDR off. I equate "bright switch" with "icepick" and like to keep the treble higher instead. But I agree - the tone sounds muffled here (though the playing is great).
I personally think the Bright switch on a lot of Fenders is best suited for humbuckers, actually, to bring them back to comparable clarity w/ single-coils... except w/ my HRDlx which, even w/ my Strat, needs Bright switch on and Treble and Presence at LEAST on 8 or 9 (out of 12):S I even have a Weber in it instead of the crappy, boxy-sounding Eminence, but something about these amps just keeps them dark... which is part of why I'm REEEEALLY hoping to get a blackface reissue ASAP lol
@yobhsiFehT Yes I know what you mean but there are many times when this is a must in order to get a decent mix. It depends on the setup though. I have a pet peave against tones which are cancelling out with other instruments.
If muddy tone is necessary "to get a decent mix," I'd wager the mix has more problems than just the guitar o.0 I'll fully admit to being pretty weak on the mix engineering front, but it just seems common sense to at least START from a place where every instrument sounds its best by itself and tweak from there. And where an instrument sounds best by itself is so subjective that it kinda brings the discussion full circle - i.e., *I* just generally don't like wooly guitar tones~shrug~ :)
What year is the Super? I recently purchased a '64 while visiting Nashville. Best Amp I've ever played through. It just has "That Tone" I've been seeking for years.
are these pickups worth the money ?

Dude, when you kicked on the bridge, I all most wet myself. Dam they sound good. What type of paul is that? Standard?

Wow, great playing. For what it's worth, I never use the bright switch on my Bassman either. It sounds awful with it on.

One man's "clarity" is another man's "icepick". Different strokes for different folks.
And you are correct - the camera mic is a POS.
diablo76 1 year ago
@diablo76
Understood, but I'm thoroughly convinced you can have trebly tone w/o it being either thin or shrill.
... hence my being a Fender guy, I guess 0:)
Have fun w/ your camera;):D

@diablo76 I agree on the "icepick" comment. There's a fine line between note clarity and stabbing your ears with too much high end.

The sound is really awesome ... and playing too.
I like the Antiquity's on my tele and strat .. The next will be the Les Paul.
But these are more expensive than the other Antiquity's. I don't know why.
Keep On Rocking.

Great sound! What were the original pickups? I'm just wondering how the antiquity pickups sound compared to Burstbuckers.

How much does the Mo'D run for? It sounds very Zendrive-esque, IMO...
joshlespaul1952 3 years ago
I've tried the Zen - and they actually sound pretty different to me. The Zen had more compression and less gain.

Oh, I guess it's just me. Where can I buy the Mo'D, if you don't mind? :) I've googled it with no results.
