The most prolific composer in classical guitar in jazz , latin and caribbean styles . With at least 30 LP CDs recorded since the 70's After seeing Earl Klugh playing a live concert on you tube I decided to play some songs in his fingerstyle technique. I did an improvised version of Living Inside Your Love.
For any guitar player wishing to learn, Earl is the man to listen to. Good Luck
My version of his song can be found in my channel with my nickname cesarinacordes
i went to see earl klugh at the empire plaza when he was playing at the empire plaza at albany- i was screaming for him to play heart string- and he played it for me, then took photos with me- it was so cool- what an artist!

This is still my favorite Earl Klugh. I was about 14 when my mother bought this LP when it was released. She played it all the time. The whole album's a winner, brilliant color and atmosphere, rich and evocative, it always takes you to a certain place, unique and all its own. It helped launch the "smooth jazz" genre (that term was invented much later). Those were the days.
I remember the first time I heard Earl's music back in the 90s. I went out and bought every tape I could find. I have yet to hear anything bad that he's done. I think he's a musical genius.
This song actually makes me feel free. I like to listen to this when i am in the bathtub soaking.....lol ! for some reason that seems to be the time i am able to block the world out and let this music minister to me.
i was the asst engineer on this project way back when, and i can tell y'all that this was the best project i ever worked on, everything layed perfrectly, no glitches at all.. between the real dave matthews arranging and earls playing it was a grand slam from its inception.. by the way, the reprise was done live, in one take.. i also recorded two other of earls albums, and approximately 45 others for the likes of cti records and others, but heartstring was the height of my career...j.c....
@MrJosered .. yes, we knew we had a winner from the onset, and as great as earl is, this was his best project, ofcourse i'm jaded.. and it was done long before the advent of digital recording and work stations, meaning that,, what you hear was exactly as it was recorded..
Hi all, well I just had the honor of seeing Earl live in Austin TX One World Theater, on 11-5 -2010. I got there thinking that Earl and the great band was playing, and to my surprise, we got an Earl Klugh alone, solo, classical concert! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! This man is such a great human being first, then a great guitar player. He stayed after the show and signed autograph and took pictures with all the fans. He even took a picture with me and my guitar that he signed. A god sent Earl Klugh is!!!!!

I was at garage sale at the age of 19, you know when they say you don't find the book the book it finds you. Well at that garage sale i laid my eyes on an album and on the cover was Earl Klugh never heard of him or his music but I knew I had to buy it and as they say the rest is history. That was over 24 years ago and I'm an even bigger fans today. That was the best $1.50 i ever spent.....
My collection of guitarist had included Charlie Chrisitian, Charie Byrd, Joe Pass and of others of that calibre. Then I heard this guitar sound - it was the sound that stopped me in my tracks and that so sensitive playing of each note. That started my collection of Earl Klug LP collection - now being replaced whenever possible by CDs. Now in my 70s, his playing is just so convevial to my gathering together of all those gentle moments I experienced in my life
Picture this it's 1979 Im no more than 19yrs old. From tha D and in the USN. This tape got Me through. Thanks for the post. this real music. Oh yea I think he's from Tha D.
i heard him before i ever saw him waiting for him to give my son his first guitar lessons. i remember saying, who is that playing that soulfully. he was just a teenager at the time. he was fantastic even then. what a joy to hear him still.
I absolutely LOVE Earl Klugh, no one else like him...I really wish that he would tour again. His music has the ability of making me feel better on even the darkest of days. Thank you for posting, I have warped my CD
I recall seeing Earl Klugh perform at the Hammersmith Odeon, London around 1983. The guy was probably the most polite performer i had ever witnessed. Very much like George Benson in character. These Earl Klugh tunes on youtube really make me feel young again...inspire a summer warmth. Thank you gomo20.
This is too beautiful. So much so that I'm crying as I listen to this. I was in the Air Force, stationed in San Antonio, TX and "Heart String" was on heavy rotation during the summer of '79 on this outstanding jazz station. I love this as much now, if not more so, as I did as that 18 year old girl so long ago. Each time I hear this, it's like I'm hearing it for the very first time. Heaven's music must sound this sweet!
I love Earl Klugh. Even Randy Rhoads loved his music and asked to be introduced to him. Sadly Randy was killed soon after and was never able to him. Earl is a fabulous musician.
At one of the best moments on one of the best days of my life, this song came on the radio, and I knew I'd never forget it, and I never have. So nice to hear again!
Practically every song recorded by Klugh brings good memories...This one reminds me of my early college days...The great Earl made them memorable. He sure does pull your "heart strings" on this one.
I remember this album. The first jazz album I bought. I was in my 1st year high. Great guitar playing.....Earl, when he was in his younger days, toured with George Benson band as a back up musician. One of the great composer and arranger of jazz music....Long live Earl Klugh Nonoy Hinola
this song really tugs at my heart strings and pulls my mind back to many years ago when I moved away by myself to a foreign country and packed in my bags was this EarlKlug cassette tape.
The beauty of this song... how it makes you wish you can go back to relive your youth... and at the same time move forward in your relationship or future that you want to shape for yourself and someday your significant other.

This reminds me when I first saw Earl Klugh in person @ The Sonesta In Cambridge, MA, he was amazing! What a talented individual. A friend Richard W. from Long Island introduced him to me in the early '80's, and I loved him ever since. Bob James is another collaborator of his, who has played & recorded with Earl, who is also quite talented, as well. It's refreshing to have nice music like this to choose from!!!
Thanks for posting something that sounds so awesome even today, If my memory still serves me, there is a part 2 or reprise to this song, If you would find it in your hear to post it, I would be so grateful, Thanks again for posting and taking me back to a wonderful time in my life.
