YES! Thank you so so much! Remember, guys, when you get to the 0000 folders, just find the one with a plus next to it, that leads to another folder named Settings. It doesn't have to be 0005 or 0009. (Mine was 0015.)

Hmm this caused my audio to not work entirlely, after I rebooted apparently The Sigmatel Audio Codec Vanished from the device manager and Was Replaced By An IDT High Defintion Audio Codec, and everytime I try to install the drivers, A Code 10 error comes up.

Mine is available; I've clicked on Stereo Mix and turned the gain up; but on both of my Dimension 9200's they never recorded the PC's sound! Help please! If I plug a Mic into the front / rear plug, and turn it off on Audacity, then boost the sound up 20dB, I can hear the PC sounds quite low.

Mine is strange. When I record it in Audacity (before the video, like normal) You can hear nothing in Stereo Mix mode, but if I boost up the volume loads, you can hear fuck loads of noise but faintly the sounds in the background.

After making DigitalInputMonitor as 01, it disabled all my Sound card properties which meaned I had to change it back to 00. (I created it in the first place.)

Mine seems to be a mix-up, the Stereo Mix is there, but it isn't doing it's job..

I have a Stereo mix option on my SigmaTel Audio Card in my Dell since the start, but it just won't record any sounds the PC is making in Audacity or anything.

You could try it if you wanted to. There is no guarantee it would work, but I don't see how it could mess up your computer.  It's editing existing binaries that can be potentially dangerous.

I tried to look it up, but most people thought it was just a computability error or a program error. I'm not really to familiar with sound cards and solutions for their problems.

It just took me forever to figure out how to enable it myself, and when I finally found out a tutorial, I put it on youtube so it would be easier to find; I did not make this up on my own.

I apologize for not being able to help, but I suggest researching with google (it's how I found out how to enable Stereo Mix)

When I want to record something, I connect my headphones first and I don't wear them, turning the volume to max, so that it can record with a "normal" volume.

I've tried it but it won't work. When I did the instructions, it turned out that there was already a binary value called DigitalStereoMix with teh same value setting. But when I look at the properties, there is no option called Stereo Mix. Just Line In and Microphone.....please help :(

The same thing happened with me on my other computer. Sigma Tel Audio works much better for me. Line-in, I have not had very much luck with.

Either turn down the volume on Stereo Mix to see if that helps, or simply find a better sound card. I am not sure if there is a simple "fix" for bad sound quality. Sorry. :(

But this is most likely because you have a different OS, a different version of Sigma Tel Audio, or a different sound card entirely.

You are having different registry paths then I do. My only suggestion would be to look for help for your OS/sound card. Sorry. :(

When you get to the 1:43 my MasterControlsIndependentMixer­Inputs is replaced by MasterMute.

Is that the same thing? It looks similar.

It could possibly be the same thing. It's your risk to take though, you probably know how dangerous it can be when you are editing your registry.

I don't know though. Probably means you have a different version or different sound card entirely. This sound card came as default for my Dell Dimension C521

Probably not. The sound card for you laptop will probably have a different registry than the one on a PC up there. But who knows?

If you do not have the same file paths as me, then no, it will not work.

This means that you have a different version of the sound card, a different sound card entirely, or a different OS than me. You need to either get the sound card I have, or look for a tutorial on the one you have. Sorry about that.

if he means what i had, then what he means is after it is done and you have restarted cpu the drivers for sigmaTel become corrupt and you lose all sound and it isn't easy to reinstall i had to system restore.

You must have not edited the registry correctly then. That is what it sounds like is happening. system restore should work.

I'm having the same problem. He means when it gets to the part where you're supposed to click settings, you know how the Driver and Setting tabs come down, all we can open is the Driver tab, there isn't even a settings tab.

Oh, I see. If you are not having the same folders as me in the registry, than this means that you are not using the same sound program as me.

I may need to add this to the video, but I am using the Sigma Tel Audio sound card.  I am not familiar with the registry paths of other sound programs, so I will not be able to help you there.

My only suggestions would be to download Sigma Tel Audio, or to continue to look for help elsewhere.

Might still work. If you can find that registry path, then it will work. But some computers brands have different paths. It's worth a try, but if the file paths are different, then don't try it. It could screw up your computer.

Control --> Class--> {4D36E96C-E325-11CE BFC1-08002BE10318}--> 0005--> Settings--> filter--> rear

+Now change the hex values of MasterControlsIndependentMixer­Inputs from 01 --> 00

+If necessary, change the hex values of EnableInputMonitor from 00 to 01.

+Now create two binary values, one named DigitalInputMonitor and DigitalStereoMix. Give them both a hex value of 01. Restart and turn up stereo mix volume
