  • @all of the arguers

who gives a rat's hiney what year it's from! y'all need to stop bickering. its annoying

this music is awesome and gives MANY memories regardless of what year it's from

  • the vynil is released in 1973,The original version of the Electrical Parade shared its soundtrack with Walt Disney World's Electrical Water Pageant, which began its run on October 24, 1971, about nine months before. This version used a loop of the original Perrey & Kingsley version of "Baroque Hoedown" with a bass addition.

  • This brings back tons of memories from when I was 5 years old! I'm 35 now! LOL!

  • I have the LP for this which came in the late 70s; it's the second edition, since the Chinese Dragon is featured on the first :)

  • I don't care what year it came out, I love it!! :D My only question is (and not trolling or looking for a fight, or anything, only curious...), wasn't Pete's Dragon released in '77? And at 5:40 isn't that Brazzle Dazzle Day from Pete's Dragon playing? Was that song in a another movie or cartoon before it was used in Pete's?

    Cheers.

  • The original version was on the 1967 Vanguard album, "Kleidoscopic Vibrations" by Jean Jacques Perrey and Gershon Kingsley. Disney expanded it several times longer by adding many additional tracks, played by one Michael Iceberg, who also performed various versions of the piece live on a big banks of synths at Disneyworld. Mike Jittlov used the original version in his 1978 film, "Mouse Mania" for the Mickey Mouse 50th anniversary TV special.

  • Sounds great and all and I really liked the intro with no voice but I'm sorry to say that this is the 1977 version of the electrical parade, Originally, the parade's soundtrack had the same themes as the current recording, but was a different arrangement by Jim Christensen and Paul Beaver in 1972. In 1977, it was updated and arranged by electronic music artist Don Dorsey and Jack Wagner at Jack Wagner Studio.

  • @Geeker1982 I watched your video. I have the 72 ELP but not the Water Pageant. I have to say that I nearly had a heart attack when I saw what looked like you TOUCHING THE DISC instead of handling it by the edges! hahahahahah Your version sounds better, mine being scratchy from years of use. :)

  • @DefconWarningSystem LOL, no I wish I had those discs, the video was done by "VinylRecordsForever," it was to show how the parade sounded in 1972 before the 1977 update...

  • if it helps the confusion any the Cinderella & Dumbo's Circus tracks are from '72 (actually '71 if you count it's use as the first soundtrack to Walt Disney World's Electrical Water pageant the rest of the tracks are from '77, the first year the parade was entierly in 3D

  • This is not the '72 version. This is the '77 version. Do a YouTube search for "Baroque Hoedown" and you'll hear what the '72 version of the Baroque Hoedown sounded like.

  • Read the Description, It says it is from somewhere between '72 and '74. Besides, my father was there the first day this was performed to the public on june 12, 1972. He was also one of the first people to get a copy of the record for this, which he made into a tape some years later, and i used a dazzle to get it to my pc, to youtube. Trust me, this is the real thing from 1972.

  • @SonicMaster01 I'm sorry, but your dad was mistaken. This is not the 72 version. I also was there during that time and I remember the parade. I also actually have a vinyl copy of the 72 version of the Electric Parade, which is a collector's item as it's been out of print for over 30 years. I'm listening to it right now. The version you have is definitely not the 77 version.

  • I mean it's not the 72 version. Blast my bad typing. :)

  • My father was performing there for a grad night, he confirmed that it was the original(without the American tribute of course)because he has an extremely good memory.

  • @SonicMaster01 Your dad's memory is incorrect. He must have done a Grad Nite in 1977 or later as this music is absolutely not the music used during the MSEP's original run. If you want to hear what the music sounded like, I found a YouTube video that has it.

Search for "Absolutely Complete Main Street Electrical Parade 2/6"

Go to about 8:30 and you'll hear Baroque Hoedown, Alice Unit, and Angry Dragon, which was the precursor to Pete's Dragon and was a large Chinese dragon

  • @DefconWarningSystem, I have already searched this one, and i showed it to my father, who confirmed that the version you sepeak of was not from 72. He was there with a band he was in, and they were invited to perform for the class of '72's grad night. he was class of '71.

  • Hmm... Well, you won't believe me who was there nor Walt Disney Records who say that is not the original 72 version (pretty authoritative I would think) How about "A History of the Main Street Electrical Parade by Chuck Mirarchi"? To quote: "Three of those original tracks, Baroque, Alice, and The Angry Dragon, were retired with the original Electrical Parade after its 1974 season...[and] reworked the Underliner/Blue Fairy track with a perkier bass line and new melody enhancements [for 1977]."

  • @DefconWarningSystem Here's another video with the original 1972 soundtrack, search for "My Collection: Disney Theme Park Picture Discs from 1973,"

  • @DefconWarningSystem The Angry Dragon was also the Sleeping Beauty Dragon, later replaced by the Chinese Dragon.

  • @MarioSonic2010 No, the Angry Dragon was always a Chinese Dragon in the original Main Street Electrical Parade. It was replaced by Pete's Dragon after the Bicentennial hiatus.

  • @DefconWarningSystem Look on Wikipedia and you'll find the units.

  • @MarioSonic2010 Wikipedia is wrong. (Big surprise) Try and find a copy of "Backstage Disney: The Main Street Electrical Parade".

  • @DefconWarningSystem I don't have one. But Geeker1982 does.

  • @MarioSonic2010 I have Backstage Disney: MSEP. It's really a fascinating documentary which I wish went even more in depth than it did. The whole thing is amazing.
