so, hasn't become clear to me at all whether this is supposed to be viewed with the cross-eyed technique or not, "relaxing your eyes" means nothing to me either.
i have a question, well 2. why do some sites say to have the two camera shots 1/30 of the distance of the nearest object when the stereogram cameras are always 3 inches apart?
how do you take a picture of a large object like a building in 3d? do you move only 3 inches apart or 2 meters or what?
For pitures on close range it is important not to make the shots to far apart. Take the distance between your own eyes for standard. When you are far away from an object (like a building) you can also take the shots 1 meter apart.
If you look at two pictures made at a distance appart, the similarities together with the differences wil cause the 3D effect.
If the pictures are made to far apart, there wont be enough similaritie to see 3D.
I can't manage to see 3D, not just your stereograms, all stereograms. I've read a lot of instructions on the Internet and still nothing. I can do the 2 dots thing with relaxing my eyes, but the third dot doesn't really seem 3D to me. Please tell me what guidance did you read when you learned to see 3D, and most importantly, how long did it took until you managed to succeed ? Thx.
So by relaxing you are using straigt focus (like me) You can practice with the two dots, but I've practiced also with one dot. Draw a small dot on a peace of paper, place this on the tabel and lean over it. Then relax your eyes so you will start seeing two.
Now comes the "hard" part. Try to move the two dots in a controled way: towards and away from each other.
I can do this part, it's just that when it comes to stereograms, I can't see the hidden image. And also if I use the 2 dots exercise, I can manage to see 3 dots, but when I try the same thing with pictures, the image becomes blury. If it's just a matter of training, than I'll know what to do. I'm looking forward to see your 2nd vid.
If you manage to relax your eyes so you can "overlap" two closest similar obiects, keep it that way for a while, Your brain should recognize the "3D" hidden picture. Also, instead of controled relaxing, if that doesn't work for you, try looking "past" the picture". Like if the stereogram is 30cm from your face, look like it would be 10 meters away. The image might be blurred this way for a while but it's a good practice. people with sight problems generally can't see them (Astigmatism etc.)
Also, do not tilt your head, those repeating/similar obiects in the picture have to stay in line with your eyes. After a while of practice from the point when you will see your first stereogram in 3D, you will be able to see them "automatically" in any given conditions. I have noticed that on-screen stereograms are a bit awkward to watch. Printed, paper ones are the ones to start with.
Some peoples eyes don't fall for duel perspective. My friend is the same way. Your left and right eye center the image until they come together but your eyes have two other ways of telling how far something is. Your brain just doesn't use that duel perspective one that these stereograms use.
Interesting presentation, I should mention that if you use a straight on configuration I have found that using binoculars with all the lenses removed helps reduce eye strain and headaches. You will have to flip and mirror the pics to account for the prism effect.
At the end, you could draw the diagonals over the two pics so the people should understand better that you need the focus point on the same object (the computer screen).
Then place a small piece of cardboard or paper between your nose and the center of the two pictures. That way your left eye can not see the right picture and right can't see the left. Dont force your eyes but relax and take your time to see...

For objects far away you wil need more distance appart. Try this:
When you look in front of you, you can easily see the distance between two objects.
When you look far away, you can hardly see the distance between two objects.
Infact: when you are high up on a mountain, the scenery (far away) looks like a flat background.
Chuckyguy 1 year ago
To see more 3D (depth) far away, you will need to take the shots further apart.
Its a mather of ratio between:
1 distance between the shots (or your eyes)
2 distance between you and the objects
Just like the 1/30 ratio. So they state: If a building is 30 meters away, you need 1 meter between your shots to get the optimal 3D effect.
Try and you will find out
Maybe you can take a series of shots, and check what is best for you ;)
good luck, Chu

I din't read anything, I figured this out myself.
My 2nd vid about 3D will come this year!

Ill place a 3D slideshow on youtube soon.
Every picture will be shown in straigt and cross eye focus. So everyone can see this.
Thanks for response ;)

ummm i just cant see ur workroom 3D
what do i gotta do?

Important is to view the video in fullscreen.
Then place a small piece of cardboard or paper between your nose and the center of the two pictures. That way your left eye can not see the right picture and right can't see the left. Dont force your eyes but relax and take your time to see...
Good luck ;)

Maybe a little bad english but very good explanation (I understood;). But if u want to get better effect make them just a bit more seperated.

More seperated? in my movie... or when shooting the 3d Photos?
