I just noticed the trees surrounding the tank. It seems like they just placed a giant pool full of exotic animals in the middle of an ordinary American forest. I know this isn't the case but that's the impression I got at first. Amazing show none the less.

These animals get so much love and attention. Not to mention all the food they can eat. What more could they ask for? They want for nothing. But if you are in this line of work, then be prepared if something were to happen. Even if they were out in the wild then they might end up on some european's hook. Better in the show than on the grill.

So much research which has lead to a higher sense of awareness, appreciation, and conservation has resulted from SeaWorld's work. My children have learned to respect and admire these wonderful animals as a result of seeing them at SeaWorld. We have also learned how intelligent they are. Many have learned to love them as a result of going to such "shows."
So they're philanthropists or something? Why don't they file for non profit status w the IRS then? They'll have even more research money, and can lobby for animal rights instead of making huuuge profits...i still want to vomit

Orcas are large dolphins, so yes, a "killer whale" is a dolphin. I am not "deciding" if they're happy, I said I hope they are. For ex. when the trainer died yesterday, Tilikum was as she the audience not in a good mood so she was not going to do the show, she was circling the cage very quickly before coming at the trainer. I am not a professional in the field but I do have common sense.

I saw this show last week in orlando and its too egotistic and what a load of rubbish with that wavy hand chant 'shamu shamu' and that stupid boy thing as if hes ment to be grown up from seeing a whale when he was little then running on with a paddle and the trainers talking to the audience we came to see a killer whale show not a bunch of big headed trainers who blow dog whistles its pathetic to make the whales act. Then they try and make you buy a wodden whale tale for like £3 its all a con.
When i saw this show it was brill, at sea world they care about there animals, and also most of them were born in captivity... so you cant let them back into the wild beacuse they would die, and also they are much better where they are!!!!
They are much better off in the wild then they are in captivity. In captivity they are prone to stress because of chemically altered water, false social groupings and small tanks. Go investigate the whale Namu and the whales Corky II and Kandu V you will see what I mean.

killer whales need mental stimulation in their day to day lives something that can not be provided to captive bred animals. You may say that they get all the mental stimulation they need but what about at night. They do not require much sleep so endlessly swim at night with nothing to do, leading to depression and mental unbalance. It's not fair to the whale, and is a form of animal cruelty.
yeah um... If they were so depressed they would kill those trainers and thats only happened once maybe twice where they attack trainers. They get everything they want and they are bred in captivity so they dont know the difference between the ocean and their tank. To put them back into the ocean would be animal cruelty. I saw the show in san antonio a couple years ago. The girl who was in the show, and the music, was so extrodinary. It really made me stand in awe of God. It was very moving.

Something you guys need to reed up on before you go nuts tree hugging....... Sea World has a tough and strick policy or NEVER forcing the animals to do anything type of "trick" or "stunt". The animals are given a signal for certain things and are given rewards for both doing and not doing what was asked. Also most of these animals where saved from the wild, if released would never have survived on their own.

I remember when I saw the show for the first time one kid hated "Shamu" because the whales didn't splash him. I think they waste a little bit to much time splashing everyone, I think there should be more behaviors! xD

i LOVE sea world. i did their swimming with the dolphins it was AMAZING!!!!!!! we saw the show like 4 times i think. maybe more. we always sat in the soak zone :)

I think it makes us humans look really simple when we pay to have a whale do tricks with a beach ball, set to horrible music, and we clap and get excited when the whale splashes us with it's tail. We are so stupid!!! Raising animals for our entertainment is horrid! "Saving these animals" to ride on their backs is not helping them! Notice there is hardly anyone in the audience?

This is a reply to 'TroubledTeen1994'. You seriously need to find out about things before you assume. They DO NOT work whales to the bone AT ALL. The bond that the whales and their trainers share is amazing. They don't force the whales to do anything and they don't punish the animals. Your ignorance will catch up with you someday.

I agree with you completely. Some people who comment on here are just ridiculous and ignorant! I'm an animal lover and I just got back from Sea World - the shows were amazing and all the animals are healthy and loved! People who criticize Sea World trainers or people who love to watch the shows are just stupid. If certain people are so concerned about animals and the whales at Sea World, what, if anything, are THEY doing besides posting idiotic and uninformed opinions on You Tube?

I saw this show last week in orlando and its too egotistic and what a load of rubbish with that wavy hand chant 'shamu shamu' and that stupid boy thing as if hes ment to be grown up from seeing a whale when he was little then running on with a paddle and the trainers talking to the audience we came to see a killer whale show not a bunch of big headed trainers who blow dog whistles its pathetic to make the whales act. Then they try and make you buy a wodden whale tale for like £3 its all a con.

When i saw this show it was brill, at sea world they care about there animals, and also most of them were born in captivity... so you cant let them back into the wild beacuse they would die, and also they are much better where they are!!!!

They are much better off in the wild then they are in captivity. In captivity they are prone to stress because of chemically altered water, false social groupings and small tanks. Go investigate the whale Namu and the whales Corky II and Kandu V you will see what I mean.

swosusbest08 you f-ing idiot. Orcas live an average of about 25 (or less) years in captivity, yes even at seaworld. In the wild male Orcas can live to be 50 years old with in many cases males up to their 60's and females up the their 70-80's. So have at that one you asshole shit face.

killer whales need mental stimulation in their day to day lives something that can not be provided to captive bred animals. You may say that they get all the mental stimulation they need but what about at night. They do not require much sleep so endlessly swim at night with nothing to do, leading to depression and mental unbalance. It's not fair to the whale, and is a form of animal cruelty.

yeah um... If they were so depressed they would kill those trainers and thats only happened once maybe twice where they attack trainers. They get everything they want and they are bred in captivity so they dont know the difference between the ocean and their tank. To put them back into the ocean would be animal cruelty. They wouldn't know what to do.

Actually, you guys, these whales are not like us humans. They don't hold grudges if kept from the wild, and they do not mind either way if they are kept in captivity or not. I'm sure they find contentment in doing an impressive trick and then getting praised by their audience. They wouldn't cooperate if they didn't enjoy their jobs.

They get fed even when they dont do tricks, and they are well looked after, i agree they shouldnt be used like this, but if they were let back into the wild they would die anyway bacause they dont know how to survive. And seaworld rescue injured whales and when they are well again they let them go. These whales have been there since babys.

I saw the show in san antonio a couple years ago. The girl who was in the show, and the music, was so extrodinary. It really made me stand in awe of God. It was very moving.
