  • @KingOfTownz

Dude words cannot describe how much I agree with you. Mediocre war movie AT BEST.

  • very nice movieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Good review, but no amount of praise can give this movie what it deserves.

  • Wow, it wasn't even near a 10/10

If anything, maybe a 6.5/10 AT MOST.

Want to see a good movie that is similar? Watch The Kingdom

The whole plot ended up pointless, boring as fuck, all the characters where jerk offs

    DONT SEE IT!

  • The Hurt Locker, Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, and Full Metal Jacket best military movies ever in my opinion.

  • The movie was amazing.

  • it was crap

  • propoganda..............it sucked.....ralph fiense unknown lmao ur unkown

  • haha gears of war was his flaw in the movie

  • terrible movie!!!!!!!!

  • i thought that movie was badass like it made me want to go shoot somebody haha but im not a military expert like all the other people below me

  • i dont know elite bomb disarming troop maybe they made an xbox 360 and gears of war

  • I just thought this movie was really bad.. Avatar deserved an ocar more than that piece of shit. And one of the comments ir right. Its just a tribute to americans and thats why they love it

  • the movie sucked ass, the only reason it won more oscars then others is because it is a tribute movie to americans, avatar was against military!!!! the racist bastards!!!!

  • Well guess what, the xbox360 wasn't the only flaw. read some of the imdb reviews...

  • I love movies, especially ones that hit the mark when they set out to be realistic. The sniper battle was just boring, they knew where the enemy was and they just sat and waited. That never happens in real combat. Only time a sniper waits is when he is staking out a place or if he is waiting for orders. And the guy leavin the base and becoming Rambo...such bs! You want a good war movie watch Black Hawk Down, by an actual good director who did research.

  • This movie was crap. Period.

  • Yeah and she ended up getting best director oscar in the end of it all too. I need to see this movie.

  • No you don't. It's a watered down version of what's really going on there.

This one is no different, it sucks ass.

  • Often times the only people who call Ralph Fiennes 'unknown' also call "Constantine" type flicks their favorite movies.

Schindler's fucking List man. Expand your catalog, watch real films. Ralph was incredible in that film.

Go watch "There Will Be Blood". That people don't know who Daniel Day Lewis is disappoints me.

  • Any fellow Vets wanna get together and make an actual realistic movie about Iraq? One with mortars and suicide bombers. One of Marines taking fallujah back from the insurgents, without pussin out in a hole. One of iraqis waking us up in our 3 hours of sleep with their clips of 7.62. Patrolling the nasty crap filled streets. IEDs on every block getting destroyed by mk19's. (ya thats how we rolled). Anyways I'm tired of this hollywood bs. She knows nothing of Iraq.

  • ya the movie is good for the first 30 minutes, rest of it makes no sense. Even someone who has never been in war will know that you dont just sit in a hole with a whole squad when you know where the enemy is...you ATTACK by flanking them! I hate the sniper scene...worst sniper scene in any war movie hands down. I guess oscars go out to lame ass crap now days.

  • i'm sorry, but actual war is not like call of duty, were u just zoom and shoot. u take your time, and have a spotter. and when r they sitting in a hole?

  • Ya I've been in actual war, and what they did was lame. #1 blood will not jam bullets #2 the trained team that was there had no clue and got killed right off the get go #3 they keep the sniper rifle posted in plain view of the enemy, why not move and get a different angle? #4 the guy providing security barely was aware of the guy that FLANKED them. #5 They had a 50 cal up on the truck - so when the sniper first sot, someone shoulda got in the 50 cal and blew the mothers away.

  • This ia a response to all your #. #1 blood can jam bullets, and have u ever tried? #2 u r saying because they r trained it is impossible for them to get sniped? i would train all the troops the. #3 where would they move there surrounded by sand with no cover, and they stayed there in the movie to build suspense, because they both know where they r. #4 he was aware of the guy who flanked them, i dont understan your wording in that #.

  • #5 they were very far away, if u could tell from the trigger pull to contact time. those Mgs on trucks don't shoot in a straight line. I understand y u think it's stupid and im just trying to make a piont. i don't mean to offend u or pick a fight

  • OK well 50 cal machine gun has a max effective range of 1830m and a barret 50 cal sniper rifle has 1800m. Do i want 550 rounds per minute on them, or one? First guy to mount sniper rifle gets waxed hard core. And they don't even move the rifle to throw off the enemy sniper...but he was moving from window to window. The guy that had rear security was messing around being scared in the pit, if he was on his game he would've saw the enemy earlier. And yes I've actually seen blood on bullets...

  • cont. --> it doesn't jam them. Oh and it took the army guy forever to get a shot into the enemy sniper, and then he gets good enough to wax a guy in a dead sprint...ya right! This movie was supposed to be realistic of how war in iraq is. And it missed by a long shot, except for the ied removal, but even then it's never just one guy, in some cases wed just shoot them with mk19's(look it up) from a safe distance. Sorry but the movie was too scripted, like there was only one way to do anything.

  • Ok listen its a fricken movie! she might not know anything about the war but u know nothing about movies. what would be better them spraying bullets at the house and asume they r dead? or a snipe out battle? And if u actually paid attention they yelled at the guy spraying with the mg because they were almost out of ammo. the reason why he didn't kill the flanker in the speed of light ( like u expected ) he was uncomfortable killing anyone. u would know that if u paid attenton again...its a movie

  • A great movie, 15 million $ budget, unfortunately only a 5 million growth, avatar worst movie, 2.5 Billion $ growth. More people should watch this movie

  • @Clear2engage um nop there budget was only 1.5 million

  • @nickcool1010 1.5? its 11-15mil you cant do anything with 1.5. search it

  • Is this a joke?

    This movie was BORING!

Up was better for Christ's sake and that was a children's film!

PS - The people who are talking about how "realistic" this movie is are full of shit. I have a few vet friends that say that's not how it is.

For example, bomb squad people don't learn to be snipers.

  • It was pretty suspenseful, had a bit of drama. Not much action though. I don't see how anyone can say this isn't realistic. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IN IRAQ

  • Won best film, both the sound awards, best director ( first female director to do so), best original screenplay (I think) and another that I can't remember.

I definetly got to see it, looks ace.

  • i thought that the Hurt Locker fucking sucked. boring as shit. and it gave people in iraq a bad image. but then again, the government needs americans to believe that 9/11 wasn't an inside job.

  • Hahaha! YES!

I'm so happy I've found someone with a brain and/or good taste in movies!

  • george bush deserves to be bashed.

he ruined our country and now the generations to come are going to be affected by his dumbass decisions.

  • poor americans they believe everything in hollywood but the real life in iraq is totaly different as it is shown in the movies .

  • how many times have you been deployed to Iraq?

  • @KKKaramali hey fuck you man i'm fuckin american and i know what sort of shit goes on their because i've seen pictures and talked to actual enlisted members of the greatest military on earth. so stop making generalizations about american people when you don't know shit.

  • Which do you think is better, Avatar or The Hurt Locker?? For me, The Hurt Locker

  • avatar was great and its my new all time favorite, but we are getting the hurt locker in the mail tomorrow from netflix so i will see :)

  • did you like it/? i sure didn't

  • i did like it, i mean it was pretty tense at times, and for me the ending was pretty surprising when you find out its really 365 days on a rotation...but yeah it was a great movie, but not great like avatar was cause avatar was phenomenal

  • nahh, avatar was freakin amazing.

the hurt locker was aight, but not near as epic as avatar, plus i like avatar's storyline better. now, the hurt locker should definately get best actor cause he was amazing in it....

  • so uhhhhhh why is gears of war even in this movie? and it was just to advertise, probably didnt play a serious role...

  • Not sure why it was in it...but it didnt take away from it, it just shows one of the actors "stressed-out" and playing G.O.W. on Xbox 360 (while talking to his doctor).

Although the system wasnt even out the year it takes place (let alone the game)...i still LOVED every singly second of the movie.

  • I enjoyed it but not as much. There really wasn't a story to the movie but it's more like a telling of what it is to work as an EOD

  • @579093

Yeah, it really transported me. I'm from New Zealand, and when I walked out of the theartre the world looked so different, my head was ringing, I'll cherish this film forever, I really will

Avatar was super great as well

  • @mhaze210 You are one perceptive motherfucker. You're right Gears 1 and even the 360 for that matter, was not out in 2004.

Still that was a hugely minor flaw considering it was shown for less than 20 seconds in a 120+ minute film.

My film of the year, along with Star Trek.

  • hahaha just liek BLINDSIDE LOL IT WAS TAKING PLACE IN 99 WHEN HE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL OR 02 ?? AND THEY HAD 09 TRUCKS LOL

  • when does this movie come out instores? or is it already out?

  • awesome review I'm watching it tonight. 5/5

  • hurt locker is now my all time fav war movie. hooah!

  • haha 360s out before their time. i never thought of that.

  • You didnt like black hwk down? (I know its in Somalia, but it couldve been set in Iraq if it said it was)

  • 5 stars btw. Great Review for a great movie

  • thank you, i was very tired though lol.

also, yes Black Hawk Down was possibly the best war movie of the past decade, not including this. B.H.D. was def one of the most suspensful War movies in a while.

  • personally i think we were soldiers is better than bhd

  • I also like Stop-Loss, not a great movie, but the message was put across very well.

  • The dudes in stop-loss were pussies. They get no respect from other soldiers. We had a dude punk out on us and go AWOL when he was on mid-tour leave. Dude turned bitch after seeing combat, and refused to come back. Dudes like that should die in a fire.

  • Just cause a few rednecks like youself enjoy killing people and dont have a problem with seeing comrades die doesnt mean everyone else is. Have fun going around telling vets they shouldve been killed you douche bag

  • I'm a vet. I'm not a redneck. Taking life is one of the most sickening, miserable things one can experience. And I miss my brothers who are no longer here, and think about them every day. Because of this, I have no respect for a man who will abandon his brothers during a time of war, simply because he can't hack it anymore. There is nothing honorable about running away and leaving your buddies to face combat again without you.

  • You love your brothers. But you would wish death upon one of them??

  • We had a guy go AWOL on us on his mid-tour leave, with five months left to go in our deployment. We all felt betrayed, angry, and incredibly let down. I don't actually want the guy to die. None of us do. It's an expression meant to convey extreme dislike. I don't hate the guy. But I don't ever want to see him again. He left us hanging, and didn't think twice. How were we supposed to feel? Sorry for him, for having a little PTSD and being scared? We were all scared. But we didn't run away.

  • ok. u see, an expression usually doesnt carry over very well on the keyboard.

  • I understand that. Perhaps I could have expressed myself more eloquently. I have very intense feelings about that kind of thing, and tend to get caught up in the rush of emotion whenever I think about it.

On a seperate note, Hurt Locker has turned out to be a decent action flick, with an okay depiction of soldiers. But the depiction of mission scenarios and the tactics, techniques and procedures displayed by the soldiers in the movie are incredibly inaccurate. I'd elaborate if I had a bit mo

  • Um I don't care what you say, but what kind of tactics are you supposed to consistently deliberate in UNCONDITIONAL WARFARE.. Special Forces don't have any specific tactics when it comes to diverse situations although they train in all different types of scenrarios and situations,,

  • actually you should praise that man. he actually used his brain and figured out the failed policy and politicians behind the war. we need more heroes like your buddy that went awol. he should recieve a medal, he is a true american hero

  • BHD was probably one of the best war movies of late because, unlike many others, it's a true story, which is why that and We Were Soldiers are my all time favs.

  • Actually a lot of my veteran friends say it's not really like that. And basic facts are seriously wrong.

  • Its kind of like it. I dont think any movie captures the atmosphere and look of Iraq as well as this one does. It is unrealistic in spots, but it is just a movie.

  • im not a big time movie watcher and i am wondering what are the other movies about the iraq war cause i cant think of any lol

  • some others are In the Valley of Elah (good flick), Stop Loss (ok but not great), and others that are just plain...decent.

this movie def takes the cake.

  • never heard any of those

  • @drhbettathanu Jarhead, battle for hydithia

  • Ralph Fiennes is pronounced Rafe Fines

  • i know, idk why i said it like that, all my reviews im like 1/2 asleep...that i keep rambling on until i realize its a 10min video..

  • Is this movie out yet?

  • it was out for a while on Limited Release...Today though (July 24) it just expanded Nation-Wide.

its playing in 2 popular theaters around here on Cape Cod.

  • nice review

  • Thank You :)

  • If you had a problem with GoW being in it I don't know how you could watch the movie as practically every single scene is full of inaccuracies or just outright inept writing.

  • I never said i had a problem with it...i was just pointing it out because it was odd but didnt take away from it at all...i actually like that game anyways.

it was the only Con i could think of...so i said it as a bonus.

  • Gears of war came out in 2006

  • i thought so.
