  • Does anyone know which guitar Nick is using?

  • @Harris2160 Ibanez ART100

  • @gnarkill924 link mie lolomo44@gmail.com

  • PRS is awesome!

  • fuck! :( Guys you should put there tabs or something, is fucking hard to learn at this way D:

  • @GusCabanillas the taps are in the magazines. This one is from November 2010. I'm not sure if guitar world puts up their tabs online though

  • what a fuckin rare tuning i hate it xC

  • you guys shoud do another video on how to do it note by note to understand it more cause i cant see how you are doing it

  • Freakin Phil's guitar has birds on the frets. EPIC

  • they need to put the right tabs for this damn song!!!!!! i want to learn it the right way!!!!

  • Is that a Black Cherry 2005 Gibson Les Paul I see?? I want!!!!

  • @untotenkid115 no thats a prs

  • @kirkmetalupurass prs what? im getting one but i need to know the specific one

  • @untotenkid115 Its a Paul Reed Smith. Phil Sgrosso is endorsed by them. I'm assuming its a PRS Singlecut model with EMG's.

  • @MrPppRrrAaaSss its the mark tremonti model. you can tell by the inlays

  • i swore to god the guy on the right was gonna turn into a fucking warewolf

  • Jeez, you can definetly tell Nick is a strong christian.

  • Absolutely NOWHERE near the tone they used in the album recording! Two excellent guitarists though. Great guys too

  • i like the old as i lay dying

  • I love the way that Phil looks so bored while he's chunking to the interlude. XD

  • i just made the right tab for this just msg me if u want it .......!

  • Does anyone know where I can find a tab to play this as they do?

  • i see them on the 21.9 in germany hahaha (Y) :)

  • James Franco plays guitar for As I Lay Dying?! :O

  • Quick question, when they play the chorus does Phil use a pitch shifter again, or do they both actually harmonize? I'm referring to when they play it live by the way.

  • @CircularLogic924 they harmonize. one plays it like the intro, the other plays it higher to harmonize it.

  • Comment removed

  • qual é a afinação das Cordas?

what is the pitch of the strings?

  • some one please PLEASe tab this

  • @slipknotxpaulxgrey If I knew how to tab, I would. I can make a video lesson sometime in the near future though, I learned the whole song, and converted the drop D Guitar Pro tab for the solo only, I watched the music video and corrected the parts that I could see.

  • can someone tab this in this tuning? i got lost

  • 3:37 lol Nick: Dammit! I was about to join in! :|

  • Comment removed

  • Nick always looks serious lol

  • can somebody actually make a good tab for this?

  • woah. a metal PRS? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Hey guys, just wanted to tell you that if you buy the powerless rise deluxe edition it comes with tabs to every single song on the cd, in both guitar pro and pdf format. I got the deluxe edition not knowing this and was blown away. Just to make sure, i rewatched this vid, and the tunings, and playings match up. If you want to learn the songs right, def buy it, a little pricy, but its def worth it in my book.

  • @sonicx2218 is there anyway you could send me the media files for the tabs? that would be awesome

  • Man i'm not american, please, whats is the tuning?? thanks

  • @Junior4337

    DGDFAD

  • @Junior4337 DADGBE

  • @ticosexy22

    0:46

    DGDFAD

  • After seeing this video...I realized how much harder tabbers make this song out to be haha. And how wrong they actually were

  • @sonicx2218 i haven't even seen a tab that has the right tuning yet :p

  • @sonicx2218 The problem is the song is mixed so well for the intro and layered very tightly.ITS VERY HARD TO HEAR BY EAR that they use DGDFAD tuning. I love this song tho

  • @XMetalChefX

Agreed, I would of never guessed myself

  • @sonicx2218 But you have to admit...noone ever would have the idea they could use such a sick tuning ;)

  • @PrayerOfTheRefugees

Correct, it's such a crazy tuning i guess you could say. I'd say Nick and Phil are pretty awesome innovators in thinking this up

  • @sonicx2218 tabbers might be wrong, but some have a nice sense of how different notes are on different strings, i first learned this song from this video, but i also know it by a tabbers point of view because it's tabbed in the same note/different strings on dropped D tuning, nowhere near as hard as the real way, but to me there is no right or wrong way, nothing has to be perfect or exactly the same as the band itself, we aren't the band so we dont have to play exactly like them :)

  • I'm between cheating or learning he17x...

  • great job guys, got 90 percent of it down, just anyway i i could get the tabs from 2:46 - 2:51? would be largely appreciated.

  • @Frankxftw Still need help tabbing out the song? I might be able to help :)

  • emgs are decent but they dont have that rich tone you get from passive pickups. emgs have great response time for fast picking, drop tuning, and of course palm muting. But check out Bare knuckle pickups, they are expensive but they are superior to emg's in everyway. hot wound passive pickup>emg.

  • 0:17 - 0:24 Nick you show em the full power of your facial expression :D

  • @Metalcorable LMAO!! xD

  • Really epic opening riff sequence

  • That's a very good melody that they composed in Parallels! On another note, I won't ever get people complaining about EMGs sounding too sterile and how they don't reflect the tonal qualities of woods. First, not everyone has the money to afford different guitars with great sounding woods and EMGs actually provide a solution on that aspect. Second, if you want something warmer, you can always try the 18-watt mod on classic EMGs or just go with the newer X series or try Seymour Duncan Blackouts..

  • Im not getting the pull-off part -.-

  • That's sweet!!!

  • клёвые реперы

  • The Ibanez has Seymour duncan blackouts. better than the EMGs in my opinion.

  • Hmm, they played it a lot cleaner than I anticipated. Great players.

  • @MyEverConstantSmile Nick and Phil are unbelievably consistent when it comes to playing live. If you closed your eyes and listened you'd think you were in the studio.

  • @PeanutButterGtr Ya they are it's crazy how accurate they play their stuff live. Amazingly talented dudes!

  • Very good players, they play some very complex stuff, very fast. its pretty sweet and original. and the emgs, have their place in some types of music. metal players like a pick up thats punchy and dynamic, as well as very syncopated rhythms. emgs typically provide the best for that style.

its also stupid to judge them as player, based on what you would do differently. dont judge, enjoy their music if you like it, or stfu.

  • I love that tuning!

  • im pretty sure that ninety percent of people who bash emg's only bash them because someone else said they sucked and theyre too dumb to form their own opinions :p

  • @biloxi1314 The thing is though, EMGs do suck. There's so many better options for having a good tone than having EMG pickups.

  • @tenhundredkills Thats funny, cuz they seem to work great for alot of really well know guitarists. Such as As I Lay Dying, Phil has great sound. They have killer tone on cd and live

  • @jonathonlafond The thing is that EMGs make ok guitars sound good and great guitars sound good. If you like that tone, that's your thing, but that tone gets old after a while.

  • @biloxi1314 or that they want to seem cool and different and alternative because a lot of people use them and they like to think they know better. sort of person who when asked if they like les pauls they would say 'no they suck' just because a lot of guitarists have them so they have to have something different to be better.

to bullet point what im saying: they are peen arses!

  • @biloxi1314

    Sounds like most Dragonforce haters.

  • @biloxi1314 Agreed sir

  • @biloxi1314 i own them. and bash them.

  • @biloxi1314 I love Emg's

  • @biloxi1314 i have emg's and i really dont like them.

  • Weird tuning.

  • @pp99073 I'ts in D, which is one of the most popular tunings nowadays... so not really lol

  • I don't understand why everyone has to bash on emg pickups, if there was something better out there for playing metal people would be using it. Not saying other pickups don't sound good, but most metal bands don't use emg's because they suck, lol, they use them because TO THEM they sound good.

  • @wickerman667 I agree. Blackouts are my choice for active pups.

  • mmmk ^_^

  • A PRS singlecut with EMG's in it makes me die inside a little bit.

  • @sXeSnowmansXe Don't be hating on EMG's they're great pickups, and sound even better with a PRS's thick tone

  • @9MAGGOT4LIFE The main problem with EMG's, is that every guitar with EMG's sounds the same. They pretty much suffocate the natural tones of the woods used in the guitar. I play Spector basses (Europe and higher models), and you can't tell the difference in tone between 2 basses if one was made with Swamp Ash and the other of Buckeye Burl. Granted EMG's do offer some of the best tonal palates available, you're not hearing any of the PRS's "Thick tone."

  • @9MAGGOT4LIFE I used to play EMG's in all of my guitars when I was younger, but now I can't really stand 'em. They just sound so cold.

  • = O the tuning !! very cool idea !!

  • I actually thought this song was a whole lot easier. Looks fun to play though

  • For being such a brutal band they dont use much distortion

  • @guitarplayer1116 Most metal, hardcore or whatever heavy bands that have good tone don't actually use a lot of distortion on their guitars because when you add in all the other instruments and vocals too much distortion makes you sound like mush and you loose clarity.

  • Nick taken out of context at 5:30 "So I'm going to be playing with Phil."

  • What so people have against EMGs?

  • @TXGxTheChosenX because they can't afford them lol

  • @sk8357 Lol I love my EMG 81 and 89, they sound better than sex feels XD

  • @TXGxTheChosenX ...well childish always like that...just ignore them...

  • @TXGxTheChosenX I know right, they're amazing pickups

  • why are all these people hating on as i lay dying lol

  • BoreCore

  • Guys if he wants to put EMGS in a prs he can i think its cool and i dont like this type of music, relax its his guitar

  • Unnecessary tuning is unnecessary.

  • As I lay cupping my ears and writhing in agony.

  • plz stop playing

  • dying from boredom

  • OH !, wheres warren dimartini? hell show yall how to put it down.

  • they are akward

  • god this sounds bad

  • I can tell that they definitely do not want to be there xD

  • As I lay dying of boredom...

  • These guys need a nap ASAP. Then get them to come back and show us how to play "Condemned" because that song fucking owns this one.

  • They look high lol

  • Those guitars sound like shit.

  • @KreatorRage like emg's.lol.

  • where are the les pauls?

  • As I Lay Fucking! Bitch..!

  • @tixou ya lol

  • ig they play EMG`s what s the problem about this? everyone has his one opinion....

i don t like emg s either, but i m not trolling around ... if they use them, they use them.. nothing special

  • @prenner111 you also neglected to mention the fact that you originally were mistaken in that I wasn't commenting on the "metal"ness of the guitar, rather the pick ups in the guitar.

  • dam nick looks stoned

  • Trivium fucking sucks compared to these guys theyre not even in the same league.

  • I don't ordinarily like the band, but I give them props for being atleast a little bit experimental

  • what would that tuning of theirs be called? DGDFAD...sounds like a folk open tuning!

  • anyone who use tabs needs to stop relying on them.

  • i dont get why people hate this band so much

and i thought more people hated trivium

  • O come on no solo?

  • they look excited.. =P

  • lol'ing at all the faggots calling them posers. most likely you kids havent even heard any of their music.

  • @homerjigmee turn on any generic rock radio station and you have.

  • @ryankuisti i have what?

  • @homerjigmee heard their music

  • honestly i would try to learn it the way they play it, but the tabs look way easier to read than their fingers...

  • no me gusta their tuning

  • Oh and what the hells wrong with emgs, unless your gonna be in some scene kid all open c power chord breakdowns band, then theyre pretty good.

  • Is this that band with that scrub fag craig mabbott?

  • @IrishRocker7710 No, that's Escape the Fate.

  • as i lay being a poser

  • i think that phil needs more distortion on his guitar, personally.

  • @jykonrock same here man, thats y he misses alot of his harmonics live

  • As I Lay Lying

  • maybe its just his tone, but Phil Sgrosso sounds a little sloppy here

  • i think blackouts are better...

  • @greensp4rk hellz yeah man :D

  • Isn't this old?

  • I want Nick's guitar :(

  • As I Stand Farting

  • Just checked these guys out, definitely not my kind of thing..

  • @mattluvsvox921 I reckon EMGs have gone through that backlash reputation thing. They where raved about at one point, now everyone hates them. They sound better than many passives imo (not all, and i do prefer passives overall). Essentially theyre similar to using an overdrive pedal. Everyone still raves about ODs. The problem I find is you cant turn this 'OD in a pickup' off...I dont think anyway

  • @maneatingtoilets these are basically a louder and clearer tone. Kinda needed for this genre.

  • @maneatingtoilets just turn the volume down a slight bit and it cleans up like a passive

  • is The prs guy playing a tremonti? if so he should be shot for changing pickups

  • @vanhalenfreak007

    Nah hes not :)

  • love this fucking shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well I guess everybody on ultimate-guitar got this song wrong lol

  • Did the camera suddenly lose focus at 2:18?

  • i was playing it sooooo wrong

  • Never much cared for as i lay crying

  • don't use emg's kids..

  • @Daemonfury1

    especially not in a prs....

  • @Daemonfury1 nick is using seymour duncan blackouts

  • @Daemonfury1 use seymour duncan blackouts

  • First!

  • I remember this song sounding heavier.
