  • I eat eggs, but I'm glad I don't eat chickens. I'm glad that Ruby has such a good life. I buy free-range eggs. I know the chickens don't enjoy the high life of Ruby but at least they let them out of their cages for a bit each day to walk around.

  • Thanks for the comment. Ruby took "free range" to a whole other level! She spent the last winter of her life in the living room by the wood stove in the company of a very old pygmy goat who was also in need of extra warmth. When spring came we put her back outside to enjoy the sunshine, and then she died. She was a good chicken. btw, what you should look for in your eggs is "pastured". Commercial "free range" chickens actually don't spend much time out doors.

  • Yeah, I've heard that free range isn't exactly what the name implies. But it's at least a little more humane. I'll see if I can find pastured eggs, though. Sorry to hear that Ruby passed away. She was one lucky hen.

I watched the video again and laughed when Ruby scared the cat. That's great.

  • 5/5 here great vid. go ruby :)

  • What a truly outstanding hen, well done Ruby!

  • That's one crazy hen!

  • Amazing!!
