I will never understand why regulations restrict anything on race cars. "If your worried about going to fast on a race track then ya better tie turpentine rags to your ankles so the ants can't chew on your candy ass" to quote Dale Sr.
Did anyone else notice the use of cheap Chinese tools by the serviceman at 0:40? I actually brought those exactly pliers to Harbor Freight yesterday to warranty them because I broke them. O_O (search Harbor Freight for "16" long reach pliers")
The video and sound being out of sync in the first bit was annoying.
AH-HA! their secrets revealed! An Easy Button at 2:13!
I saw the Corvette ad during the ABC coverage of the AMLS race in Sebring, FL. The street version was detuned by 130 something horses, for the race car?
Amazing, so the street version with slicks and racing brakes, would pretty much blow everyone off the the track, yes?
By "in house" you mean GM Racing, not Pratt & Miller. Also, I seem to remember the only issue P&M having with their new GT2 cars were with the engines, especially when they both blew up at LeMans!
Chevy, please make more videos like this! Interesting, informative and AWESOME. I think this is why the majority of us subscribe to the Chevy channel. It's safe to say that most people don't care about the 100s of Cruze vids you post up that have absolutely nothing to do with the car, driving the car, the mechanics of the car, or anything like that.
@Eliano55 Who cares if it has a 2 valve head, or pushrods or any of that "archaic" stuff that everybody fusses over. It get's amazing fuel economy, has ridiculous power, sounds amazing, is extremely easy to work on, is economical to build and maintain and is TOUGH. What more can you ask for?? ...isn't it really only about results in the end??
It's also ultralight and one of the reasons why Corvette Racing often gets penalized for - thus the ACO makes the Corvette Racing team take on weight ballasts...and sometimes up to 200lbs! It's horseshit bullying by the ACO.
Several other LMP and GT2 cars (including Corvette) are racing on E85 ethanol fuel, which is a corn-based racing fuel. It's a mandate by ACO to promote green technologies across all racing brands. E85 is more sustainable than oil.
Chevy got into ALMS racing to develop those "green" technologies for the streets. When you fuel up on E85 on your Corvette, you are getting the derivative technologies from racing. The whole point is to prove that go-fast tech does not have to depend on oil.
@triplexxxsatyr lol - first e85 is not that eco friendly, why you ask? well lets just say that to produce a litr (or galon for US) you need a hell lot of corn, and where do you get them from? Destroy a forset or two? Take from the crops that are already in small numbers (regarding the demand). Its not that simple. And by eco i ment hybrid, wich is as we know, more deadly to the enviroment than conventional fuel.
At least it's an alternative to a rapidly depleting non-renewable resource, which is the whole point of "Green" racing and that all manufacturers participating in ALMS' green racing are given a forum to test and develop those technologies. It's suicide to not explore those probabilities.

The motor is no longer manufactured by Katech?

@RalliartGT1 That would be correct. GM handles the engine program in house now.
