By The Way The Movie "PAPER MOON" Used It During The Fair Scene. But For Some Reason Or Other Was Not Issued On The Soundtrack, As Was "Nobodys Darling But Mine" And "The Music Goes Round & Round".
A snatch of it was also heard near the end of Harman-Ising's MGM 'Happy Harmonies' cartoon, "The Chinese Nightingale" (1935), when the Emperor sings a "chinoserie" version of it upon the nightingale's return, 'althazarr'.
I really appreciate the added information! That is one of the main objectives of what I do here, is to share what I know and obtain knowledge of the history of older music through my 78s. I did not know about that cartoon. I will try to find that on DVD now.
I used to have this one posted on my channel but pulled it because Warner. You Tube sent me a message and told me to pull it because they were claiming copyright status. It appears they claim a lot of the Reisman songs since the composers are part of the Warner/Chappel catalog. Let me know if you hear from them in the next several months. If you don't it might indicate we are not being screened as much anymore.
Thanks for letting me know about that. I certainly am not trying to infringe on their mega catalog of music or hurt their sales of 78 records by posting this. I hope the history and this great piece of music will be able to stay right here for people to listen and learn about, and enjoy in a different way other than just hearing it on an ipod. I'm not trying to make any money by doing this, and I've really invested a lot for the records I have. I hope that they would not be negative about it.
I agree with you but for some reason they seem to think we are infringing on them. A good friend tells me they don't reissue these because there is not enough money in it. I could see if it was hurting them monetarily but it is not.
I have this record. It should be backed w/Lucky Me Lovable You. I think that Eddie Duchin is playing piano in Reismans Orch at this time. Duke Ellington's Cornetist Bubber Miley also cut some sides w/Reisman ("Without That Gal" f'rinstince) Some broadway stras also recorded w/Reisman. Clifton Webb, Harold Arlen, Cole Porter and many more. His Orch. was THE Society Orchestra in New York City. He also discovered Dinah Shore in 1936.
Yes sir, the flip side on this one is Lucky Me-Loveable You, which I'll be working on this evening to post. Thank you once again for even more history on Lou Reisman!
This song was also used in the 1981 TV miniseries Goliath Awaits (check imdb.com). I saw it when I was a kid and the melody got stuck to my mind.
