Guess I got lucky at my church. Went with Mom, paced in the choir loft until it was over (cmon, God knows I think better standing up). I don't really care what you believe, and I doubt you care what I do, so let's just leave it alone, k? We got a match to win.
What I find really annoying about religion, is that some people don't say they believe, but that they KNOW. Nothing else is ever right, and they're not open for other theories. On one side, that's good: They're loyal to their religion. On the other side, they can become very, VERY angry if one thinks otherwise, which can destroy friendships and opinions.
Nobody knows what's on the other side, just believes.
Let's be honest, within the last 100-150 years, society has changed, an religion hasn't moved with it. Our modern world is drastically different than the world in say 1500. I'm a Lutheran Dieist, and some of my friends do have this argument (the atheist one, while he makes interesting points his logic is flawed). The big thing is that all people today need to be acceptive of others philosophies and be willing to listen and discuss them maturely.
@holybringerwow Furthermore it doesn't make the idea of a God more acceptable. Disprove my "imaginairy" friend? He's unmeasureable, incomprehensible, unseeable.Goodluck. God is made to be impossible.
It is truly a shame that you feel uncomfortable in church. I feel that, as Christians, it is our job to make church a place where people can get help and be saved from the world you are living in. I hope that one day that both of you will get back in church and will feel comfortable in church as well as proclaiming the gospel. Praying for all the people of the world that do not know Jesus as their personal savior. Feel free to respond
@holybringerwow Have you ever heard of the burden of proof? Furthermore the statement God exists is most of the time absolute, you can't disprove an incomprehensible being.
@holybringerwow People who do not believe in a God primarily run off of the basis that there is no proof of the existence of one. A religious person, however, is the one who truly believes in God without evidence (that's where the term 'faith' is put into effect). If anyone needs to 'prove' God's existence it is those who have faith that there is one. An Atheist does not need to prove there isn't a God because there is no evidence supporting that one even exists in the first place.
@holybringerwow on that subject it is completely flawed logic...religion is the one who proposed a God exist so the bourdon of proof falls completely on them...plain and simple. That argument holds no water. To top it off the most respected scientist will tell you the universe has no need for a God to be in existence.
@AllxSizexPro (PT2) Therefore I can totally understand drift0r, he makes perfect fucken sense. I know he has had some trippy experiences that has made him believe in "the supernatural" but in my view it's simply his upbringing mixed with physiological problems he has. (not intended as an insult to him as he said he have had a few problems with a black shadow/his evil ego)
@musicplayah So about those "obvious reasons" (about the bible not being true) could you share these reasons? i identify myself as a follower of Christ, the fact is, once you become a Christian- a true christian, you will understand what it means to be one. i don't practice it because i want a "social title", hell, they way Christians are being treated nowadays (a prophecy in the book of Revelations) i wouldn't want to be a TRUE christian in the end times ( Which we are most defiantly in now).
This was cool. I'm a 19 yr old pastors kid who has had similar experiences as you guys, so it was awesome to know I am not alone. However my parents are not the typical judgmental christians and they really raised me to be loving. Which is what Jesus was all about =]
First off I'm questioning the makers not other people watching so don't back them up just because u don't believe in Jesus. What I want to know is who are u to say what god is or isn't about. Also not all churches r like that and I think u r leaving things out. Why do people make religious videos. It shouldn't change opinions but it does. U should let people choose what they believe in by themselves. Finally most the stuff u said wasn't true.
@crapeters You're very ignorant for what you've said. Losing respect for someone just because of their views is ridiculous. You clearly didn't follow the video. The point of this video was expressing his own beliefs and feelings. You can't say what he said wasn't true when this is all about his experience and what he personally believes. People interpret things differently. Not everyone is the same.
I am fine with religious people just as long as they don't try to convert me or go nuts about bible stuff. What really pisses me off is when religious people think atheism is another belief system. It's really not, religion just isn't part of my life and I don't really give it any thought.
I love this commentary. These guys know exactly what turns people away from Christianity: many Christians go to church for the wrong reasons. People are so hung up on these small little details that they completely miss the point in going to church, which is praising God. I love God and I love Christianity but people like Drift0r's grandfather make me so sad -_-"
I can't believe that you grandfather would actually threaten you. My mother would kill mine if that ever happened when I was a kid. I don't like church because mine is a little corrupt and full of old people. Also, there are some really weird things in the bible.
For example, if you wear something that is made from two different things, like a polyester and cotton shirt, you are supposed to be killed.
dude drifter i was born into a church kind of like yours. very strict and un forgiving. but now i got to a nondenominational church. it is amazing and the people are totally different. we need to follow the bible not the man made rules that many churches have tried to put on us.
I have a really hard time being around people who take the bible literally. I can't help but be embarrassed for people who think the Earth is 6000 years old, or that humanity started with Adam and Eve, etc. It's just so... ridiculous.
Hey Driftor i have a question on a personal note. I am an atheist but my family doesn't know as my grandfather is a pastor and my father is a minister, i am mostly afraid what they might think of me, but even to my cousin which I am closer to than my own mother i am afraid to tell. what do i do? im fucking confused!
@ninjahia Just say you haven't formed an opinion on religion yet. As you grow older your views on things change, so the most socially acceptable thing to do is not declare yourself as anything until you live on your own.
As an atheist, I don't have a problem with the liberal christian you describe yourself being. What ever hey? I won't make jokes about invisible sky friends if you don't condemn me for eternity. When you take Christianity, and then you make it more and more personal and situational, you can really start making some sense.
Most people who go to church are cultural christians. People who go to church, mean, stuck up because they think there better than everybody, judgemental. They aren't real Christians, they just say they are. They do exactly the opposite of what the bible says. I try to be an actual Christian, but those bad attitude people who go to church are just like the rest of immoral society. Just because your atheist or say your christain doesn't mean you are good or bad.
The problem with Christians is that they view a belief in god as default. What other instances are there where it makes sense that not believing in something is a step away from where you started?
@godiswatchinutube good differentiation to make. D bag christians aren't living in the way of Jesus. I grew up in the Bible belt too so I've seen my share. The whole point of Jesus is to heal the brokenhearted and set captives free, so the whole idea of a dbag christian is sadly contradictory but very real.
...and sorry yr church experience(s) sucked. I've found some great churches over the years. Keep looking and stay away from those d-bag Christians fo sho!
Thanks for sharing. The CoD community has like Zero religious content on the YouTubes...not that it necessarily needs it (it might?) it's just cool that you guys were open. Props.
@Rellik97 Judging by your username you're 14-15 years old, if you don't realize that God and religion is bullshit in two years from now I feel really sorry for you. Actually, I already feel sorry for you because you probably have parents/grandparents or other mentors that have been brainwashing you since you were born. Please reconsider on believing in fairy tales told by other people that were also brainwashed.
LOL this comment makes me laugh, from looking at your argument. About a year ago I was really open minded, which I'm thankful for as if I wasn't I'd be more on the fence. So I can say that I wasn't brainwashed. Though if you go to school, or watch movies look at all the anti-christian values. In biology which is my current science class or anywhere do they not just try to shove evloution into your brain as if it were 100% true, the gov't. controls it, that's brainwashing.
@AllxSizexPro But then it doesn't make sense to identify as christian :p I myself will call anyone who say they believe the bible is 100% true stupid due to manny obvious reasons I don't have time to mention however someone who say they believe in "the" god, that's a totally different thing. Of course it depends on what attributes and rules they give this god but most of the time those people tend to be more secular because they realized the big religions are at parts fucked up.
@AllxSizexPro seriously dude I can respect christians but it becomes extremely hard to if you make clearly oxymoronic statements like that. and your just copying the idea of that guy with the viral poem aren't you?
@herbs772 explain to me how it is moronic in any way please (also, oxymoronic is not a real word)? And about the viral poem, i truly did not see or hear of this "poem", nonetheless you have been brainwashed about Christians, they are not a religion, however they are followers of Christ. Hope this cleared some of the issues, please feel free to respond. =)
@AllxSizexPro oxymoronic is a real word look it up on google or something (oxymoronic and moronic are not the same thing). Christianity is a religion, just because your more laid back then others that doesn't mean your really any different. Christians preform rituals (prayer), they believe in a higher being (god) and most of them have a weekly meeting (church). Please tell me how your any different.
@herbs772 I did not say that i was any different from other Christians, i said that most of the Christians these days are not true Christ followers, yea sure they go to church (Which by the way does not make you a Christian) they say they praise the Lord (Only in public where EVERYONE can see). I don't see any point you are trying to make, i looks more or less that you are just trying to get under my skin. Please feel free to respond.
@AllxSizexPro Well, to be honest you're kind of a nut. I don't really mind your views but yea your a tad bit crazy.. I wish you the best in the so called "end times". To think earth only lasted 6000 years before we got to the end times, who would've known. /troll
There's no reason to state any, people have to go out of their way to defend the horrible things in the bible. You CAN'T live 100% by the bible in 2012, you'll be thrown into prison. It's outdated- which most ppl realize.
@musicplayah You really still think i'm a troll? This shows your ignorance towards people in general. "The horrible things in the bible", i doubt you would say that playing games like "Call Of Duty" is horrible, and it has tons more killing. Point is you cannot think outside the "Box". Of course you would think i'm crazy, me, i'm prepared for that, as it states in the bible that believing in Jesus Christ in the end times would be the most difficult thing yet. Good chat.
@herbs772 It is not a religion, if you do not believe me, listen to this. In a religion, the followers "follow" a GROUP. In Christianity, you follow ONE GOD, not a "group" one deity above all, therefore it is not a religion.
@AllxSizexPro Same goes with Buddhism, it's originally a philosophy of how to live a good life and after a couple of thousand years Boom! Idols and monks worshiping shit. no offense here if you're Buddhist. I'm just stating the fact.
and btw, paganism is more a lifestyle than a religion, it's a blanket term that covers a wide range of beliefs. to be pagan you don't have to go and dance naked round the woods on a full moon. "pagan" translates as "country dweller".
I've been atheist all my life and it's not affected me, if I meet a person of any religion I accept them for their personality. If they are kind and fun I'll be nice and friendly to them however if they are mean, disloyal and overall ignorant then I would not want to be friendly to them. I believe thats how simple it should be. :)
i disagree with noobpwner. I am an atheist and I was raised religiously in a Muslim family. It grew evident to me that a lot of teachings in the Islamic holy book and other religious holy books were very unethical and simply not true. also if god exists he has done a very poor job of making the world a fair or better place. Please dont give me that "god has higher plans" . I dont think im "smarter" than god" or "being closed-minded"
religion is like a penis. it's ok to have one, and it's fine to be proud of it but don't wave it around in public and don't shove it down children's throats.
u sound retarded, most of the population is religous because they were raised into it from a kid. if u taught them about religion when they were older they would be too smart and know that religion is for dumfucks.
You keep saying that you try to see things in other peoples perspective, but I dont think you're geting that right! I dont feel like you understand my view on this. I dont believe in God, by the way.
I go to church as often as I can because I know i am sinful even trying to live for Christ. I need his forgiveness and I hope other see that they need it too.
@cav366 I always haven't really liked people who didn't believe in God only because every person I've ever met that doesn't believe in God makes fun of me and gives me crap all the time because I do believe in God. But seeing your comment completely changed my view on those that don't believe in God. It's good to know that there are some people that don't believe in God that still have respect for people who do. Thank you. :)
Hmm... I honestly think its different for Catholics, we look at each other equal and we tend welcome people into r church I have never been looked down on by my church.... In terms of movies and games that r "bad" we think their not the best but watching them is perfectly okay (except for sexuality) but drifte
woooww after hearing the commentary between drift and ObviouslyJesus, it's like i'm listening to a commentary at the mentally challenged group home. no offense ;)
Wow I watched this thinking for sure it was gonna be two guys bashing Christianity. As a Christian, and pastors boy, I gotta say thank you guys for having the guts to be so honest about how you believe. In the Internet it's so infuriatingly easy to just say what is "cool" and still retain your anonymity, it's refreshing to hear an honest opinion instead of what some one thinks will give them a lot of views.
And to all the people picking it apart you have to remember that they a have a right to
@generaldomination please prove to me that God exist. Why is faith a major part in Christianity? Because you must believe. You can not 100% prove He exist but there is more evidence for a creator "God" than any other crazy thing public school teaches "big bang, evolution"
I'm glad that Driftor can maintain an open mind about atheists despite growing up in the bible belt, but it seems like DLP made some assumptions that I don't agree with. I don't believe in God because it doesn't logically make sense to me, not to stay away from Christians, or refuse to believe that God is smarter than me. Driftor, you give me hope for a world where I need to live alongside religious people.
@OnlyUseMyDriver exactly, i was raised intelligently, to believe modern science ahead of books from illiterate parts of the middle east during the bronze age
@DjOnizZz18 That's a very arrogant statement. I don't believe in god either but to say "I was raised intelligently" that's just a very blanket statement.
@OnlyUseMyDriver Nono.., he said that there are different types of atheists. I am the same as you, but I also sometimes do tell them I am a strong atheist, just so I don't into awkward Christian conversation. It's right though, there are many people that are like that.
On another note: I completely disagree that atheism is the easy way out. There's nothing harder than having no one to blame or anyone supreme being to turn to when you're in the pits of pits.
im just a 14 year old kid in Australia and i believe that if we are going to move on and evolve we have to drop this whole god thing. i mean its kinda silly, it seems like theres no god and if there was one then he clearly does jack shit all day (911) (WW1) (WW11) so its easier to say that he doesnt exist. But what we all should be doing is drop religion, racism and intolerance and start focusing on important things like curing diseases and get rid of poverty.
i still kind of believe there is a higher power but i hate religion religion causes war problems and brai n washes people relgion is a twisted view of god dont blame all the problems on god blame it on people mainly religious people who cause all these problems
just a quick question, if a religion says you go to hell for not being faithful, and theres multiple religions stating this, are we all going to hell? because we cant be faithful to all religions
@Rockstarpimpftw I would assume if there were multiple religions that believed in some sort of hell, than the version of hell would be different for each religion, and you would have to do different things to get into these different hells. Like how the Christians hell is very different from the Greek mythologies Hades.
I believe in a god that isn't so insecure that he needs constant praise from mortals or have a specific gender or ethnicity. in fact, for all I care "god" is made out of hardened semen. I just believe in a creator, that's as far as I go.
i'm atheist for several reasons 1. there is no proof of god or religeon 2. there's so many religeons and all think they're right 3.religeous people (mainly christians) think they're better than others and try to force their religeon on people 4.religeon has restrictians atheist you can do what you want noone gives a shit
@wolgercon you mad bro look at a regular mass it looks awfully like a cult and half the time people twist the bible or the torah or the karan ( how ever you spell it) so it fits there own personal agenda and use it to discriminate people
@Lordevilman123 1. there is no proof to disprove God (faith) 2. I agree with you on that, all religions think they are right 3. Im a christians, i dont view myself any better than you or anyone else some of my best friends are stoners (just a few idiotic christians ruin what world thinks of us) 4. As a christian, i am free because of Jesus death on the cross and God's grace and God gives me laws to protect me, and the American judicial system is actually modeled after biblical laws
In Britain there are less Christians, it seems that we are raised religious by school and then when we reach the end of primary school we are free, i was already doubting the proof that god exists in year 3 and i am an atheist now. I used to think god could have started the big bang, but then with the big crunch possibility i think it is an infinite loop of expand and contract. Where it started though, puzzles me, the concept of infinity is hard to grasp. :)
I'm a christian but I don't go to church very often mainly because of the way that I interpret different things in the bible, sometimes (but not always) I disagree with the minister (not aloud just in my head).

Feel free to respond

holybringerwow 2 weeks ago
@holybringerwow Have you ever heard of the burden of proof? Furthermore the statement God exists is most of the time absolute, you can't disprove an incomprehensible being.
musicplayah 2 weeks ago
@holybringerwow People who do not believe in a God primarily run off of the basis that there is no proof of the existence of one. A religious person, however, is the one who truly believes in God without evidence (that's where the term 'faith' is put into effect). If anyone needs to 'prove' God's existence it is those who have faith that there is one. An Atheist does not need to prove there isn't a God because there is no evidence supporting that one even exists in the first place.
sanfordandson13 2 weeks ago
@holybringerwow on that subject it is completely flawed logic...religion is the one who proposed a God exist so the bourdon of proof falls completely on them...plain and simple. That argument holds no water. To top it off the most respected scientist will tell you the universe has no need for a God to be in existence.

Finally most the stuff u said wasn't true.
crapeters 2 weeks ago
@crapeters You're very ignorant for what you've said. Losing respect for someone just because of their views is ridiculous. You clearly didn't follow the video. The point of this video was expressing his own beliefs and feelings. You can't say what he said wasn't true when this is all about his experience and what he personally believes. People interpret things differently. Not everyone is the same.

Most people who go to church are cultural christians. People who go to church, mean, stuck up because they think there better than everybody, judgemental. They aren't real Christians, they just say they are. They do exactly the opposite of what the bible says. @godiswatchinutube good differentiation to make. D bag christians aren't living in the way of Jesus. I grew up in the Bible belt too so I've seen my share. @AllxSizexPro oxymoronic is a real word look it up on google or something (oxymoronic and moronic are not the same thing). herbs772 2 weeks ago
@herbs772 I did not say that i was any different from other Christians, i said that most of the Christians these days are not true Christ followers, yea sure they go to church (Which by the way does not make you a Christian) they say they praise the Lord (Only in public where EVERYONE can see).
