curious how you attached the extra bracket you created for the tripod? Did you remove the duplexer temporarily and tap some threads in the existing hole?

Just ordered the antenna after watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time to explain this new part of the hobby to so many people. Also, I appreciated the blooper reel at the end. 73's!
@layed39 Distance on V/UHF is mainly line of sight. The higher you are the further you can work. This is why repeaters are up high. For the car a common 5/8 2M antenna works good.
Randy - Great informative video of the Dual Band Arrow Yagi and your tripod mounting system. I just got the 2-meter Arrow Yagi for backpacking and look forward to adding the Dual Band for satellite work in the future. Would be great to log a QSO with K7AGE in the future! 73's KF7ETX
Sam hear I am building my own power supply ( old elevator parts) my dad is a elevator tech and a amplifier for 2m my q is is that better than a j-pole?
Interesting, when Randy was attaching the boom to the tripod, it was acting as one big antenna and interfering with his wireless mic. Must be some serious RF in the air there.
Anyone have any idea how to tune the antenna? The SWR is too high and I lose too much power on TX. Would it make any sense to get rid of the built in diplexer and replace the cabling?
Thanks a lot for the video Randy...new to the ham world, and just recently build a portable J-pole...After seeing your video, I think I want to get one of these too. (for 2m ssb) Keep teh videos coming..good stuff.
I noticed you were looking for matches on those 440 elements. I solved that by using a different color electrical tape on each pair. I suppose with the right color coding, not only would I be able to select matched pairs but it would also indicate their order. Thank you so much for these tips. I've made my own bracket. At this time I'm using hose clamps around the rubber handle because I wasn't sure the single screw would handle the torque of the whole antenna extended out so far from the end.
Something designed to be easily assembled or disassembled. often for portable or mobile use , and guarantee of emergency telecommunications. Tripod connection to give a very good inspiration, I like your video.

There seems to be some misconceptions.
Antenna elevation is first, gain is second, power is third.
The reason satellites work so well is the elevation and excellent antennas, a few watts covers the entire CONUS.
What the arrow antenna does is allows one to carry a dual band Yagi that can easily be disassembled and transported.
The satellites are the true key elements, without them range on VHF/UHF would be very limited indeed.
