Oahu is still trashy compared to all the other islands.. But gas; for the dreaded commodity rental car ... is cheapest there than all the other islands... I'll give you that for Oahu and as far as Airfare..with the right knowledge...one can fly to Maui from Portland Oregon for less than $200.00 Round trip.. if you buy your ticket months in advance. With a free place stay and mail your stuff ahead..staying in Hawaii is dirt cheap!

Last time I was there, the mid '80s, a lot of that landscape at the beginning of the video was pineapple and sugar cane fields. Planes from the east would fly in around Diamond Head along the southern coast, get in a holding pattern and turn around at Barber's Point before approaching the airport from the west.

Honolulu's airport is a national disgrace ! There are MANY third world airports that are more modern and efficient.There was a broken escalator for SIX months,people piss in the stairwells,because they cannot find the bathrooms,there is no no A/C and on and on.
