I performed this song today at the VA Medical center. Had to have it transposed across several octaves, since I'm a girl, but it was still a gorgeous song. People were crying, and my father was there too. I feel so honored that I was asked to honor them in that way.
Thank you is not enough but it's all I have.. Thank you to all those who have and who are serving our country...and especially for those who gave their lives.. Thank you all who saw more than what's in our worst nightmares and thank you to my friends who spend countless days without loved ones bc they are off ensuring our freedom. We are eternally grateful!
My Dad was in the Navy on the USS Wasp ~ God Bless him ~ I wish he could have seen this video too ~ It makes me cry ~ I miss my Dad so much, he was a good man and worked hard and made a really good life for our family.
I am a graduate student. I am putting together a compilation of stories from Veterans who were part of WWII. I am looking to interview anyone who has a story from WWII. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with our highly regarded Veterans. Interviewing them would be such an honor. Personal stories are such an important part of history. If you know someone who I can interview, you can contact me at : swimtori82@yahoo.com I can do over the phone or in person interviews. Thank you
If you don't mind post their stories on The Frontlines wwwthefrontlinescom. It is a site dedicated to preserving our veteran history so that future generations will understand the concept of service to country is service to oneself. thank you.
My Dad died over 30 years ago, way, way too young. He enlisted in the Army in the fall of 1942 and was part of an engineering company. Like so many of the WWII vets, he rarely told me about the war. As I was only 26 when he died, I didn't give his silence about the war much thought. As I got older (I'm now a year older than he was when he died) I wondered so much about what he went through during that time. This video speaks so much to me, and maybe tells me a little bit about my Dad. Thanks.
My brother was a service member.. but never did return home till this day he is still known as a M.I.A member (missing in action). May god bless those who have died and for those who are still fighting for our country.
My Dad was in the Philippines during WWII and never really talked about his time there. I served in Vietnam in the Mekong Delta in '68-'69 with the Mobile RIverene Force and I understand why he never talked about the war. May my brothers who have gone before me rest in peace and I will see you on the other side. LRB, Rags
My husband, Airman Larry Long, passed away in October. I had this played at his service. It was a great tribute to him and all the men he served with on the USS Kitty Hawk in 64-68
I retired from the US Navy in 1978, I lost more than a few friends and relatives to Viet Nam. I was in the war zone 5 times but most of mine was off shore. This is a very moving Tribute I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat by the time it was finished. I listened to it three time before I could calm down enough to answer my wife who was calling me to eat.
i have a friend whos bro is in the millitery and shes scaered for him!!!! i need to sho her this song its so great yet really sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Dad was serving in Europe during WW2 with Gen. Patton. If ever there was a song to commemorate his service, this is it. Thank YOU, and thank those who served, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice!
"Go in peace" jeez death sure is just what an 85 year old person wants to hear - I remember someone telling a group of WWII veterans that this is the last chapter in their lives,Boy did they get upset and pissed. Remember that - next time wish them "Good health" and "more life". Seriously when your 85 would you want all kinds of people telling you to "Go in peace" or this is the last part of your life. BS thats rude, older people do not want to hear about death - just ask my Grandpa
@SashaVedernikov are you that dumb this is to thank them for what they have done for this great country or do you know why he wrote the song? He wrote it after seeing many dont thank them. If you dont know what a song is for then keep your thoughts to your self.
@SashaVedernikov It's not about who lost more, or who had the biggest army. All allied countries worked together and gave lives to defeat fascists and preserve their way of life. It doesn't matter if it was a Russian soldier fighting in Leningrad or an American soldier fighting in Normandy. The point is, they were all brave and put their lives on the line. Whoever they are, they deserve to be remembered.
To all those that have given there youth so we may be free thank you! We truly owe you all more than we can ever pay. You gave your all to people you never knew or will know but it did not stop you. Thank you and God bless you all with out you we would not be free today.
Thanks to all who have fought, and bled and killed for Liberty throughout the history of man.
I pray that we may all become educated enough to realize and and continue to fight againts the Socialistic efforts of the cartelist, politicians and academics who have driven us to most of the wars that have taken the lives of so many true patriots. Down with government control of anything except the military, and up with Liberty!
God bless you all, and keep educating yourselves!!!
I wish my father could have live to see and hear this tribute to his and his comrads and the sacrafice they made to The World. It is good to know that there are still Americans who love and resect this great nation. To all you faggots who are to cowerdly to serve in the military remember, if you wrote this in english (or had someone write it for you ) you owe that to a teather, and that you are free to express your misguided opinion than a vetern.
My father, his father, and his father and so on, including myself are veterans. if we can have one wish, just leave the military alone, its fine as is, nothing is broken, were attack dogs, not pomeranians, please support us, not belittle us, or try to turn us from a german shepard into a chihauhua :(
Thank Veterans, not spit on them, help veterans, not look the otherway.
My husband and I watched this together and it is the most touching and heartfelt thank you we can give to our veterans. My husband is a vietnam vet who was in the infantry. We both just sat looking at the video and holding hands quietly cried, Please don't let all the sacrifices and blood shed go wasted on our country, We need to stand up for our country !!!
My school is performing this song for your Vet. assembly. We are adding our own harmoney and solos. It sounds beautiful when we sang it. hopefully i can post it up. The event is this Wed. coming up.
i can watch most horrifing/ extremely sad videos without somuch as my eyes misting up but i have yet to make it through a veterans tribute or rememberance day without bursting to the pathetic loser i normaly consider those who cry about something heart warming or slightly sad. But our veterans deserve more than tears they deserve our undying gratititued and to know that we live each day to its fullest so as to ensure that the sacrifice they and their friends made was not in vain
Thank you for this wonderful tribute. My dad is a WW11 Veteran having served in the US Marines. He fought in battles in the South Pacific, including Iwo Jima. This video moved him greatly as he remembered his commerades lost.
i really appreciate whoever made this video i just hope that the unit of these soldiers care as much as you more and more veterans are suffering today because of lack of support ,broken families, sleepless nights, homeless ,nightmares the army just ruin a lot of soldiers life like me
This song is a beautiful tribute to all Vets, especially the WWII ones. But I would have used a different photo at 2:51 than the one on the left. History will show that like all Anti-war whores, the ones of today are misled fools with nothing better to do.
Wow this is just soooo sad!! I cryed!!! I just wanted to say to every veteran!! it doesnt matter what you do no its what you did already and for every single moment that i lived freely.... Thank You!!!! So much!!! this song is so right we dont thank you enough!!! Just remember that i give thanks and that YOU saved this country!!!!!!!! - Elizabeth / blueeyedraven08
The only way that we can truly show our appreciation to these amazing men and women is to be the best that we can be and to ensure that we live life not only for ourselfs but for those who lost theirs ensuring that the world would be a safer place for all of us. Words can not begin to describe my gratitude towards the brave men and women who fought and died for us. And I sincerly hope that I can spend time listening and learning from those veterans who are still with us
Daughter of/sister of/niece of/cousin of Veterans, as well as a Veteran, myself: to all those who've ever donned a uniform in defense of our Nation, THANK YOU - beautiful tribute. Adding to playlist -
From a veteran - thank you for saving our freedoms and for your many, many sacrifices. My grandfather was a WWI vet, my dad served during the Korean "Conflict" and most of my uncles and cousins have also done an enlistment or two.
We all considered serving to be an honor and a privilige. Beyond that, a sacred duty.
These guys were the real tough guys. Not knocking forces in todays world but these were the real men. Thank my Lord, I met a few before they left.I love all who have served, serving etc. You all are incredible!!!!!!!!!!!

The children of the war veterans are also getting gray now. When they are gone who will be there to remember the truth and the horror of what WWII was like? Will the grandchildren remember or will they forget the hard lessons those soldiers learned? I hope not. It was far too important and too many lives were shed in the learning. May God Bless the Veterans of every country.
The Major, a young man back then, flew in North Africa amd the raid on Polesti. When he passed, many years later, we found the Silver Star we never knew he had.
The Sgt. whose family was in an American "Camp" because his ancestors were Japanese, served with Mac in Japan. Years later he was denied a Highschool delploma because the "camps" were not accredited..though he had earned a Masters from Stanford. So hard to write this, I can't see the screen though the tears,..Thank you, Dad.
Thank you and God bless you soldiers that serverd and many who gave their lives. My son served in Dessert Storm and my grandson served in Iraq, they both made it home. I am so thankful.
I honor and respect and thank each and everyone of you. Thank you for bringing peace to our planet in the biggest war in history. You will always be remembered by me, and all of us. Thank you once again.
The lines did touched me. What a nice song!
