I never even considered a crossover (much less an Equinox) before I started looking at this car. Very good styling nice interior and milage is like a car! Great job GM.
My son and his wife have ordered their Equinox and should get it soon. He's an Engineer, and thinks like one too. He test drove virtually all of the "crossover" vehicles and said that to him the Equinox was the most Driver Friendly and much better than the comparable Ford and Honda models. Also, the V6 has an amazing amount of horsepower and torque while still getting pretty good mileage. I just hope the new GM V6 is as good as the old 3.8. We will see...
Id buy a Gm, ford or chrysler any day of the week before ever owning a pos jap car. Gm has definitely come back with quality. Oh and since everyone is being a little baby about bailing out GM, think of it this way. IF everyone would stop giving a shit about foreign companies and making them happy we wouldnt have had to bail out gm and chrylser, ford just got lucky.
One thing I've always appreciated about GM in particular has been serviceability and accessibility: Every problem I've had with my old Chevy truck (and yes, I've had my share of problems with my trucks), it's easier to get parts and it's been an easy fix. Oh and btw my old Chevy still ran strong after I retired it as a farm truck: over 220, 000 miles with the original powertrain (350 V8 of course). And Ford's are definitely a pain to repair.
Well the reason why people didn't buy GM and Chrysler vehicles is because they sucked. Today, they're average. Honda is still aceing (however you spell it) GM/Chrysler and barely passed Ford. Kia/Hyundai are doing better than GM and Chrysler too. Look at the new Sorento, Tuscon and Sonata. The new Sonata is definately going to be a Fusion/Malibu killer.
@jpride1127 Well, then they must be brainwashed. If someone were to choose a newer Chevy over a newer Kia (I am aware that the older Kia's sucked) then they must enjoy visiting a the garage every now and then because the new GM cars have average reliability. Kia and Hyundai are are not excellent in it but they above average in reliability according to Consumer Reports.
Kia and Hyundai's quality is far more outstanding then Chevys. Hyundai hires adept italian designers and engineers, and Kia recently hired a designer that worked for Audi.
Xiber, EVERY GM vehicle I've owned has lasted over 140K miles with ease. Hell, the current fun car I have is an 89 Trans Am GTA with 143K on the clock WITH 8#'s of boost going through it from a Procharger. Not too shabby. The mere fact you want to gloss over a 2.3 million car recall for a MAJOR recall that can cause death proves you're just fanboi. Toyota makes good cars but don't kid yourself, they're not immune to screw ups. The self-proclaimed kings of reliability can have issues too...
Toyota recently issues a 2.3 million vehicle recall for cars uncontrollably accelerating and GM is crap? How about all the frame rot on Tundras? Not to mention Toyota beat out every manufacturer for the most recalls for 2009.
To brush off a recall that has already resulted in deaths as a "minor issue" is being naive. No manufacturer is without flaws, yet GM has been consistently putting out product like the Equinox that have received great reviews and awards for design, safety, and reliability. Take for example Buick, which is currently ranked #1 in JD Power Dependability reports.
Dont believe the magazines and other consumer groups out there, they are there to make money and detriot has been "feeding" them to get favorable reviews, compare detroit cars over the last 5, 10, 15, 20 years and no domestic car comes close to quality as the japanese cars do.
The media gives a pass to foreign automakers all the time. The Japanese government has even investigated Toyota in the past for quality problems, yet no one seems to know about it.
Asian cars are like cell phones and mp3 players! They are cool when they first come out and some people really want them, but after a couple years, nobody notices anymore.
If they brake, they are expensive to fix and waiting for parts is a bitch and nobody wants them anymore.
And nobody cruises the strip in a Lexus or a Toyota; nobody would notice anyway. Don't mistake my prejudice for ignorance, they are okay in Europe or Ozzy land, but I would never buy Asian trash.
wrong dude, Honda, Toyota can easily reach quarter of a million miles with no problems...............its common for Corolla to reach a million miles or more on the original engine....there are some in the Guinesses book of world records and in its museum..........No GM or Ford can claim that, they start falling apart after a few thousand miles......their max life is like 100k with hundreds of trips to the repair shop.
I do heavy haul for a living and see lots of accidents and if the car(s) involved are Asian designed, the occupants are almost always carried out in body bags.
In my early years I have had a couple Chevy's roll the clock over and start at zero again. Almost any car will last forever if you maintain it properly and take care of it.
Big American cars are better and safer; its all over for Toyota now anyway. Nodody will buy a Toyota after this debacle and now Honda is doing a recall as well!
Japanese cars are bigger in every category, Lexus is bigger than Cadillac, the Camry is bigger than Ford Fusion, Corolla is bigger than Focus.Tundra is same size as any full size pick up.
All cars are going to be mid size and smaller from now on, no matter who makes them. Japs are experts in making small cars, GM, Ford are like a joke when making small cars.......Look at Gm now defunct Saturn, crappiest cars ever made.

I only drive German, British, Italian and American cars. I won't even look at an Asian car let alone buy one; now hush!
I am a Toyota owner as well as a BMW, both which are 2004 and bought new..Previously I had a 1989 Camry, which I bought used in 1990 kept it till 2004, put on more than 300k miles on it. Car ran like a charm, used it like a mule and it kept going, sold it to someone I knew and its still running!
I can say the same thing about my 67 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme or my 77 Chevy Impala. And the farmer who farms my land still uses his grandfathers GMC trucks...
My Mom's Blazer has well over 600 000KM on it and we have hard winters in northern Canada; she doesn't want to give it up.
That is why I came to see this video. I'm deciding whether to get her an Equinox or a GMC Terrain. She likes the Equinox better.
But I love my mom which is why I won't buy her drive a Toyota or a Honda!
The Camaro, the Equinox, as well as many other GM, Ford and Chrysler products are made in Canada.
We make some Toyota and Honda cars here as well I think but not enough to make a difference in the economy; just a token gesture I guess...
And where I live in can get down to -50 celcius with the wind chill and we measure snow fall by the foot. You need a reliable vehicle here or your in a world of hurt!
Don't forget that the profit made from Toyota and Honda still is sent home to Japan, not kept here in the US. Assembly of a car is less than 1/2 of the cost. Ford thoguht about it long and hard, so don't kid yourself. The current Chevy designs were made over 3 years ago. And GM has already started paying back their debt. Judge a car by its merits, not by political BS. GM did a good job with this vehicle, and the millions of dealers and workers should not be penalized by the actions of a few Upper GM's. This vehicle is 10X better than an Escape.
Not even close, I' m Ford guys and a proud own of my 2000 grand marquis. I owned two GM - 2002 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2002 Pontiac Montana and they had one thing in common they were crap.
i drove a 4cyl, fwd today. i am 6-4. plenty of leg & head room for me. nice seats. but cheap plastic on dash tho. acceleration adequate. base stereo is weak. i would upgrade the sound system for sure. i will certainly consider.
Owning the 2010 4 cylinder equinox, I am very pleased with it so far. The review seemed to focus on the v6 only. The 4cyl gets 32 MPG, and considering the size, is impressive. The ride is smooth, and the acceleration is just fine.

What's not so nice is that the awd version looses a whole 10% in fuel economy. Couldn't they have made things a little smoother? I mean, 10%, holy crap.
And what's teh "Eclipse". Surely you don't mean Mitsubishi Eclipse...?
Escape hybrid is so much more expensive, plus unknown mystery expenses down the road, plus probably ongoing maintenance you can't slack on as much as with regular vehicles.
The Equinox is definitely a contender.
I really wish it could carry 7 people though. If only they made it a tiny bit more boxier and put in a fold up third row like the Mitsubishi Outlander....

The car is not so beautifull like a model before, The front look like chevrolet captiva( JAPANESE CAR) See it on google and be fair, does this car look like chevrolet Captiva??? I don't like it. But the inside is really good.
I'm dying to know just what the reviewer meant when he said that the V-6 wasn't as "engaging" as the I-4. The word "engage" has a variety of meanings and this could either be good or bad, although from the context I gather he preferred the 4-banger. It's a shame that he doesn't explain why....especially since he had considerable time with both.
i agree. we had a GMC envoy excatly same as trailblazer and we liked it. and it as an suv not a crossover like this so u could get 4wd not awd. tht really paid off
the gmc envoy isnt even close to the same thing as a trailblazer, the inside maybe but completly diffrent extior looks to it, i would know i have a envoy
i was saying tht it is the exact same mechanically and they did look pretty much alike. the envoy was more rounded while the tb was more sharp amd agressive. but the new equinox and this terrain look nothing alike. and tht is good
This is the kind of car I like to see from the General. Gorgeous styling inside and out, respectable fuel economy, good power, fairly large interior, overall a very solid effort from GM. I hope they can build more cars as nice as this one.
@unknownstudd69 And why not? My comment was posted about a year ago. The previous gen was crap. Juxtapose this Equinox with the previous one at the time. It doesn't take an Einstein to tell it was a big step foward in styling and overall quality for GM and especially Chevrolet. But I will admit styling is subjective and what looks great to me doesn't mean it looks good to you.
I never even considered a crossover (much less an Equinox) before I started looking at this car. Very good styling nice interior and milage is like a car! Great job GM.

It's a shame that he doesn't explain why....especially since he had considerable time with both.

The I-4 gets 32 MPG instead of 25 MPG like the V-6

I wish they would redesign the Trailblazer so it could get great gas milage like this, and good go GM on such a wonderful new SUV

Me too!

With bigger size comes less fuel economy...law of physics. Trailblazer is being discontinued this year.

Not sure what your meaning of "economy" is, but weight is the enemy of fuel economy, size has little to do with it.

Trailblazer is heavier than a unibody crossover. I think body on frame midsizers will be phased out in favor of crossovers.

Law of physics?
....FAIL.

i agree. we had a GMC envoy excatly same as trailblazer and we liked it. and it as an suv not a crossover like this so u could get 4wd not awd. tht really paid off

the gmc envoy isnt even close to the same thing as a trailblazer, the inside maybe but completly diffrent extior looks to it, i would know i have a envoy
tanman1346 2 years ago
i was saying tht it is the exact same mechanically and they did look pretty much alike. the envoy was more rounded while the tb was more sharp amd agressive. but the new equinox and this terrain look nothing alike. and tht is good

This is the kind of car I like to see from the General. Gorgeous styling inside and out, respectable fuel economy, good power, fairly large interior, overall a very solid effort from GM. I hope they can build more cars as nice as this one.

@08RamandRogue Oh no way dont use word "Gorgeous" for this car no damn way...
unknownstudd69 1 year ago
@unknownstudd69 And why not? My comment was posted about a year ago. The previous gen was crap. Juxtapose this Equinox with the previous one at the time. It doesn't take an Einstein to tell it was a big step foward in styling and overall quality for GM and especially Chevrolet. But I will admit styling is subjective and what looks great to me doesn't mean it looks good to you.

The 4 cyl gets 22 / 32 and that is worth bragging about. Better than anything in its class and it looks better too.

18mpg city 25 hwy is nothing to brag about. The new 2010 Camaro's with 426hp & 6spd trans do better.

The Camaro is a fucking car not a suv.

So what! with 426hp it still get better fuel ecnomy.
GerryK61 2 years ago
Drag coefficient of an SUV is usually higher than a car and they are heavier.
A worthwhile observation nonetheless.
tblack21 2 years ago
its almost 3 timer bigger than camaro
its heavier
and its a v6
if u want a better fuel economy go with the 4 cyl
it gets 32 mpg
better than 2009 toyota camry
