  • When i saw that this song had more than a millions views i could feel a smile playing on my mouth, i couldn't help being a proud fan! they seem like the nicest bunch of guys ever :L

  • 1:16 Yeah, a cactus in the car! Awesome idea, a must to me once I got a car!

  • which bastards disliked this.

  • @ventralestar I never claimed American music was worse or anything. I was just saying that to say The Beatles was the only thing Britans produced is stupid.

  • Fuck off Olly Murs

  • got this on repeat. love it.

  • uuuh, so vintage!

  • if i see another spot on youtube i will kill the responsable!

  • along with Waterloo Sunset and Something I think this is one the most "perfect" love songs - "it's only love" - sung with great cynicism and hurt.

  • @ventralestar you missed out Oasis, Coldplay, Blur and Kasabian to name a few.

  • @helloIamMattSmith You missed out on The Velvet Underground, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Joy Division, Nirvana, The Stooges, Pixies, BEACH BOYS, and not to mention the countless bands of the US today: The Strokes, Arcade Fire, Wilco, Interpol....I mean it's just a really stupid thing to say Britain has the best bands period. I will admit the USA does have better solo artists: Elivs, Bod Dylan, Neil Young, Otis Redding, James Brown.

  • @helloIamMattSmith I'll also add that with out American Rock and Blues pioneers most of these British bands wouldn't exist. It's really just without on you can't have another type of thing.

  • @xJirachi81x Very true but I think Britain is better at bands and America at solo artists. British music is hard to match anyway

  • @smithereens8 Not really. Have you looked at a list of the best bands? The only thing Britain really has is The Beatles...

  • @VentraleStar yeah well that's all they needed,Beatles were the watershed band, all pop music derives from them. But the US is much more eclectic &exciting than our tawdry image as this country that just puts out generic, formulaic nonsense gives us credit for.The corporate machine is just so great in the US, it muddles a lot of our good bands out by pervading what we hear with bigbiz sponsored BS on the radio.but we have just as much to say musically as anyone in the world, even UK

  • Lo scriverò in italiano perché forse rende meglio l'idea. Ma quanto cazzo dura questa pubblicità????

  • 2:22 just saying, I have that cat mug!!

  • watch?v=FOWvyPuT810 if you love this song, give this a listen! It's by the maccabees too, not some shitty band I'm trying to promote!

  • Bombay Bicycle Club or what?

  • @LuisAfunebre agree!

  • what's Prince Harry doing on that car?

  • Reminds me of Ed Sheeran in a rock way

  • Absolutely adore this

  • wish people would stop referring this to hipster!!??? iv lived in london my whol life and literally never heard that word used once!!

  • @larsfradanmarkz You could do that equally for the likes of British music? Beatles, The who, Led zepplin, sex pistols, rolling stones, the smiths and plenty more lol...

  • @JackGarretty1 yea so what? ive never said that Britain have been unsignificant. But to mention Linkin Park and Green Day just to say that all american bands is generic, is just stupid :) Im not american, if you think im "defending my country" or something like that.

  • @larsfradanmarkz *insignificant*

  • First time I've ever heard of this band. THIS IS GREAT.

  • hm, his voice makes me think of the Arcade fire 's singer :) Never heard of them before 3:15 ago, and its a shame!

  • Does anyone knows any brit rock style songs with amazing bass lines or any band called protocol ?I heard on a store a song and the Dj said sth about protocol

  • @alkalinetrio751 for the bass line: Bombay Bicycle Club - Always like this

  • Had drinks with the Maccabees on Thursday night in Bxl. Lovely guys.

  • You people never knew how much I freaked out when I saw I had the same cup as them at 2:22

  • Great song but I hate these shite indie student videos. It seems that nobody can be bothered to think of anything original anymore.

  • @HarveyGrass / @xJirachi81x / @everybody HOWEVER, there's obvsly tonnes of cross-pollination. You could say, for example, American bands like The Strokes and Howler have a very quintessential Brit-pop sound - think about it, they're even both signed to a British record label, ya know?

  • @mandasaurus8 / @everybodyhere Nickelback are from Canada (Alberta I believe). Anyhow, Canadian bands are often great. Especially where I'm from - in Montreal we have a thriving music scene. In terms of British 'sound'; well that is clear. Indie music just didn't have the same evolution in the UK. What you have is a lot of basic verse / chorus, 4 man band, twee-ish, pop, regular type structures. Nothing, for ex., like the instrumental climactic music (a la GYBE) we have here.

  • 1,010,000 viewing bitchessss! HELLL YEAHHH

  • i love the drums C:

  • 1 MILLION VIEWS!! Well deserved x

  • Dooooooooooooooooooo YOU MISS HOME?!

  • nearly one millions views, come on!

  • What is this?!

    - Is this a refreshing upbeat and interesting band which i must investigate fourth wit!

    - To the Bandobile.

  • @spursfc4ever all the yanks you named then are awful.

  • not being offensive, but i believe britain has the best music than anywhere else in the world, even if people don't like it, it's pretty much a given that it is the most DIVERSE place on earth for music since there's so many different genres popular here, there's popular jazz and blue still going underground here, all sorts

america to be honest just has bands like linkin park and greenday, generic as hell

  • @xJirachi81x American is DEFINITELY not just all punk-rock bands like Greenday and Linkin Parks. There's Lady Gaga, Regina Spektor, She & Him, Ingrid Michaelson, John Mayer, Cameron Mitchell, and so on. Yes, the best band in the world, The Maccabees, come from England, but the US has some pretty breath-taking music also.

  • @SpursFC4Ever stopped reading when you said lady gaga

  • @xJirachi81x ...I can't work out whether you know fuck all about music or fuck all about the USA? Which ever way, it's an highly embarrassing statement.

  • @xJirachi81x your comment is purely ignorant, I can name soo many American bands that sound as great as this. Maybe you're listening to the wrong American bands?

  • @xJirachi81x Yeah, because the mainstream is the only place to find american music.

  • @xJirachi81x Maybe the whole indie scene is a bit better in britain(though i actually doubt it), but in every other genre, america is really much better. And thats a logic thing, since its a much larger country.

Let me mention some bands who have changed the music to some extent, and who is from the US. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Pixies, At The Drive-In, Bad Religion and tbh i could go on and on. But yea whatever dude!

  • @larsfradanmarkz You don't seem top know much about music earlier then the 90's do you? Some of the most influential bands in the world have been british. Most of the bands you named just based most of their music off of british bands.

  • @TheOnlyJaneDoe haha are you fucking kidding me? Sure "Some of the most influential bands in the world have been british" is true, and i have never said otherwise, but the last sentence.. yea i dont even wanna go there, i should know that some people on youtube is really narrowminded.

  • @TheOnlyJaneDoe also, want me to mention before 90s? Sure, Bruce Springsteen, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Elvis Presley, The Velvet Underground, Stevie Wonder... oh yea "and these bands have influential all the british bands blah blah blah"

  • @larsfradanmarkz That last sentence made very little sense. Anyway, who even gives a shit where the music is from as long as you enjoy it. You also commented on my last sentence. It wasn't worded all that well but I would say I'm the exact opposite of narrowminded, at least when it comes to music.

  • @xJirachi81x I totally agree and im from america (boston). pretty much all my top favorite bands are from the uk. although, i cant completely agree with the last part. i mean, most mainstream music out there nowadays is complete trash, but you have to admit that there have been many great musicians from the us.

  • @xJirachi81x you are damn right mate.

  • @xJirachi81x i agree with u and i am from america

  • @xJirachi81x Meh. Not really true about America, they also have very diverse sounds and genres that are all popular. But, I understand where you're coming from.

  • @xJirachi81x i am sorry but i have to agree with u , i am american and i know the truth.

  • @xJirachi81x but we have in-n-out (:

  • @xJirachi81x I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Britain has a great music scene, but saying all America has is Linkin Park and Greenday is, simply, a blatant generalization that holds no truth, designed to be offensive. It's like saying "Britain just has Adele and Lady Sovereign."

FYI, starting your paragraph with "not being offensive", usually means it's offensive.

  • @xJirachi81x While America doe have generic and not very good bands, and as a whole most popular music is not good we also have some really great bands like Modest Mouse, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, just to name a few

  • @xJirachi81x Okay first off....why did you automatically go and attack America? Out of every country you choose the one where the most critically acclaimed bands have recorded at....makes sense.

  • @xJirachi81x that's naive as fuck, i'll give the fact that britain does have loads of great bands and seemingly consistent with great output of great music, but America's led the way many a time with breakthroughs in music. There's just that ever immense image of the US as generic and corporate bc our culture is pretty vapid and about money, but 4every bland band you name i could name loads that changed music, Strokes,Nirvana, Hendrix, Elvis.UK is smaller so it only seems more diverse

  • @xJirachi81x

I'd imagine you either haven't explored enough of the fantastic foreign music that you can find anywhere, or that you have a natural bias and are blind and ignorant of your preferences. I would suggest you temper your subjective claims and patriotism. I can appreciate that you are taking advantage of britain's wonderful music though.

  • @RitzFritters Excuse me cowboy would you mind stepping off your horse? It's too fucking high for my liking.

  • @seanyboi07 You're perpetuating the trend, friend :)

  • @xJirachi81x Honestly, it isn't about the country. Britain does look like they produce a lot of good bands because the music culture there is more advanced and open than anywhere else in the world. They support acquired music genres like indie, jazz etc so that's why we are more exposed to music from Britain. But a lot of other countries have really good bands who produce good music too, we just don't know it because we don't see or hear them getting played.

  • @xJirachi81x To pretend that , you have to know music from every places in the world. Asian music culture is mutch more diverse than your. I dont like people who thinks that they are better than others. You are not being offensive , just arrogant .

  • I can't and shouldn't listen to this song anymore but I just did. It hurts

  • was this really the maccabeats?

  • he used to be in my brothers class.

  • @TomSouthLondon Really? I'm so jealous!

  • so bad

  • I love this song more than Tottenham Hotspur. And that's a lot of love. COYS!

  • i started following this band after i saw angus thongs and perfect snogging :)

  • @missdansinact That is the most upsetting thing I have ever heard.

  • So i thought the maccabees were playing at Newcastle next month i was trying to find somebody to go watch them with me until i found out they were infact tonight, worst mistake of my life!

  • I think this is one of my favourite songs ever

  • what a classic

  • nice

  • The Maccabees are just all round Awesome, Awesome music,Awesome videos just Awesome. cant argue

  • songs from The Maccabees - pure happiness

  • @Littlelamb1DWeasley how did dianna agron bring you here?

  • What bands are there that are American Indie? Literally didnt think there werent any, thought it was a British thing..?

  • @Niamhness09 althoughly kind of a cliched nme thing to say but the Strokes debut pretty much restarted the indie genre and helped inspire loads of UK artists

  • @Niamhness09 indie simply means they're from an independant record label. so yes, of course there are american indie bands. and if you're meaning "indie" style then look at vampire weekend as just one example :)

  • @phoebe969 cool and yeah i meant style

  • @phoebe969 rather would be the strokes that started the "indie" (fashion) thing, i guess. the scene that celebrates itself #2.

  • @Niamhness09 Foster The People or The Black Keys? I can't really think of that many coming to think of it.

  • The moment when you remember being 11 and trying to figure out the video out. haha! <3

  • Nickelback is such a fag.

  • Di brought me here!! Sorry Maccabees' fans, I know you probably don't like it when people comment things like that on awesome videos like this one... but Dianna is awesome too and thanks to HER I got to hear this amazing music! :) xx

  • My love of dianna agron has only increased since she brought me here :')

  • Dianna Agron brought me here :)

  • @TheIzzieAndKellyShow yah me too :)

  • Uhm...Why is everyone talking about Nickelback? I came for the Maccabees...

  • @HimawariManga freedom of speech

  • I remember watching the first showing of this on TV. Since then I'v always loved this song.

  • I swear these British Hipster bands just make up the shit they put in their music videos on the spot... Either that or when they are on drugs.

It's just useless, pointless and random.

Bands who actually put a valid point through their music videos are the one.

  • @DamienHurts Seriously, click on a link on the right titled "The Maccabees - No Kind Words" and you'll be proven clearly wrong. I'm not being dickish here or anything, but I had the same impression of Maccabees up until recently.

  • @DamienHurts Just because the meaning isn't crystal clear makes the lyrics more complex and interesting to listen to. You obviously don't have the patience or capacity to actually attempt to understand the lyrics for yourself.

  • @DamienHurts The meaning is pretty obvious actually.

It's about love loss, and you can clearly notice that the people in the video are using random objects (Empty clothes, hand with lipstick, drawing a hallow body to hold hands with) and such to fill that aching hole in which their old lover has left.

The Maccabees are a great band, and no doubt put LOTS of thought into their music videos.

This one clearly coincides with the lyrics and is easy to understand.

  • my mistake and no mistake and I would take it back if I could so stay with me tonight! #TheMaccabees

  • 55 people hate his First Love!!

  • holy crap i have that cardigan. 2:35

  • oh my god i can't stop listening to this song

  • lol

  • Why does it matter where bands came from?

I mean I agree with the whole nickelback thing, I don't want people to think that that dreadful band came from here... anyways all that matters is that the bands have talent, I'm sure that British people are fans of American indie bands and visa versa. I don't look at where a band comes from then decide that I like there music, I just like a band based off of their talent.

  • @mandasaurus8 Inevitably, British indie sounds classier due to their accent. So I could say I'm guilty of looking for British bands for that reason. haha.

  • @mandasaurus8 yah but that doesn't change the fact that nickelback suck and they are from america.

  • jip&janneke!!!

  • Oh God I love strange music videos! This is so strange and so indie, maybe that's why it's so weird.....BTW, the singer is so pretty!

  • im from america bitches :) just the best countrie in the world :p

  • @SuperNinjacookie america is a dive

  • isnt that prince harry in the cricket jumper lying on the car?

  • I want to press that yellow thing too

  • this needs more views

  • and it's my mistake, and no mistake, and i would take it back if i could

    in love with this song

  • they sound like something i've heard before...but right now i have no idea.....it's like .....ahhggg can't remember....does it sound like something you've heard beofre? i mean the voice

  • @thamus90 i think the voice sounds like the mystery jets? that's the first thing i thought anyway.

  • Yes just found out they're on tour in the new year and they're coming to my city YESSSSS!!!!! :D :D

  • Probably one of my favourite songs ever to exist, and the video is amazing, lets face it Orlando weeks is just a god.

  • When I see this video only has 860,000 views it makes me happy. I am one of the few who get to enjoy brilliant music.

  • LOL nickel back are Canadian!!!

  • Ugh I can't stand my fellow Americans not knowing a damn thing about the american music scene other than the mainstream, learn a thing or two idiot.

  • When did Simon from Misfits gain the power to be lead singer of a great band?!!

  • @lancsno1

Orlando looks nothing Simon from Misfits ?

  • I need an english boy !!!!!!!!!

  • @misseloisa1 boys aren't any better over here lol!

  • i love felix

  • 2:17 its hankie the the christmas poo!!

  • How to get a top comment method two:

State the obvious by unfairly categorising top comments

  • Okay sorry but this is really going to annoy me so, there is no such thing as a British accent. The Maccabees are from Brighton, there for they have a Brighton accent, that is all:)

  • @Zalgar151 I thought they were from London? But reside in Brighton? Not sure though...

  • Youtube Boy Lights Fire!!

  • We have music so we can enjoy it, so if you don't enjoy certain music, than listen to something else. How hard can it be?

  • how come this has so little views?

  • CANT STOP LISTENING.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @thearcticwombats why can't we just respect one another's music? you showing nothing by being a bigot on here. americans love britons and britons love americans, it's simple. music should be the thing helping that, not hurting that.

  • @palexminear

    ok

  • @thearcticwombats Dude, music is a world wide language, just like math. I's not about what country it comes from, it's about the listener. I don't see why people are so blinded by the place music comes from, but where it's going.

But I agree that Nickelback sounds like Miley Cyrus is being stabbed in the throat while a bunch of gorillas rip her legs off.

  • @thearcticwombats hahah, yeah youre right, thats the method, but sadly it is the freaking true!! english bands are better than americans

  • @thearcticwombats What? o.O

  • @thearcticwombats Or say that,

  • @thearcticwombats

so, u must probably like Arctic Monkeys too:)!

congratz on getting top comment lol:D

  • Britain has fantastic bands! America has fantastic bands! and i think we can all agree, Canada has at least 1 shit band!

  • Yeah, right, five good american bands! You gotta be kidding, I mean, I love the english music scene, but there is so much more better indie band in america, just right now: Modest Mouse, Battles, Real Estate, Animal Collective, Titus Andronicus, No Age, Beirut, Girls, Bon Iver, Liars, Smith Westerns, Interpol, Grizzly Bear, TV on the Radio, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Deerhunter, and I've just cited the most popular indie artist... Anyway, love The Maccabees and the song!

  • very good

  • so sad!

  • 1:15 I just turned round at this point, and it made me jump♥
