  • bill gates said khan has an iq of 160. like if you agree (:

  • Khan talks way too much. It's like he's in love with his voice, and he fills almost every second of the video with him talking that it doesn't give a lister a chance to absorb in silence.

Ex:"So let's write sine of theta... (siiiine oooof theeeetaaa) Ok. So now we have sine of theta. So like I said, we use the sine of theta (right here: sine of theta) for the identities.. (iiiii deeeennnti teeeees) Identities."

Just say "write sine of theta" and then write the fucking shit and get a move on.

  • @VideoMenu

    *listener (not lister)

  • @VideoMenu OK... the whole point of the Khan Academy thing he has going on is for you to manage how you learn from the video in your own way, not to fall in love with his voice. If you want to absorb something in silence, go to the pause button.

  • @cubfankid12

Well for me it feels like he misses some stuffs sometimes BUT now i compare him to our 1.5h+ lessons.

So the inormation per minute is insane compared to the real lessons :D

    love it =)

  • even bill gates likes him there must be something special about him!

  • Teachers are notoriously underpaid. They are working with less and less money and they help raise your children. Don't ever underestimate the importance of teachers. Sal is wonderful but so are the classroom teachers.

  • @stoke777 no they're not, they're in a union that is so messed up. They try to make us like horrible leaders and communists like Obama. People like you haven't watched Sal's videos enough. He doesn't do any bullshit. He gets right to the point. Teachers are a disgrace and should not be paid any more than they already are.

  • @cubfankid12

Are you kidding me? "He gets right to the point"? You know how many times I wished he'd just get right to the point and he doesn't? I mean, one one video he takes up valuable time calling us "chemistry studs" after explaining how to do some equation.

Leave your politics out of it. To drag Obama into it makes you plain obtuse (no pun intended).

  • @stoke777 He never said teachers were unimportant. Besides, look at Pennsylvania or any state with a big city, Philadelphia has several schools with 900 students, problem is, only 70 of them show up a day, that's over 90% of the money being wasted on people who don't learn anything. Khan Academy has nearly 200,000 active students, and almost all of them learn something from him each day.

He's not the only one either Bucky (thenewboston) is another on the rise for the free education revolution.

  • Salman khan is the best guy ever ! Proud to say he's a Bangladeshi !!

  • @innocentassole and don't forget half indian!

  • @IHighLikePlane He said "academicearth(dot)org"

  • I don't like khan academy because he misappropriates other people's "research and insights to himself"- as if knowledge is something that falls out of the sky, and that only some people understand it.

  • @Superfoiling Yeah? When does he do that? I've watch hundreds of videos produced by him and he never explicitly takes credit for anything. Does he claim to have invented calculus without giving credit to Isaac Newton? And, if only some people are supposed to "understand it" as you say, why is he making instructional videos for asshole like you to learn from? I think that pretty magnanimous of him.

  • Khan Academy is awesome, and I use it all the time. By the way what was the second one he said?

    Academic (what).org

  • You deserve it all! :)

  • The teachers unions is very important as a political entity, and without them the world will be pretty much hell, but it is true they do not develop their teaching platform dynamically, and for that reason if they don't shape up soon they will be taking a big hit.

  • I have been forwarding links to his site to my friends on facebook, and asking them to pass along to any students in their lives. Great thing to do. Spread the ability to learn, change the world!

  • While some blame can be put on certain teachers it shouldn't all be put on them. These teachers are doing there jobs fallowing the model that has been put in front of them. There are many places where it is looked down on teachers to try anything different because the higher ups want them to fallow the model. You will see in cases where the teachers are allowed some leg room that they will take it to make learning more fun. I blame the school boards and politicians more for their ineptness.

  • WE NEED THIS FOR NURSING EDUCATION

  • Proud of Salman KHAN he has proved that there are noble n honourable muslims also living across the world!!!

  • @TheMrJazim people dont bring religion into this.

  • @crumcon i think what he meant is ... the image of Muslims in western countries are not smthing to be proud of(due to reason), and in this time he managed to do something so incredible that ppl will understand there are good and bad in everything ... among christians , Muslims and in every group. :)

  • kumon probably hates salman khan

  • Try online Latino women profiles rockmycity.info

  • Can Khan Academy teach us IT like programering and OS please?

  • @icare4it It can give you the mathematical basics. From that point on it's just a matter of reading a few programming books and you'll be unstoppable, lol ^^

  • What's with the success of quitters these days? Bill Gates dropped out of college, Salman Kahn quit his job, Steve Jobs dropped out of college...

  • @JSnyder49428 Because they quit to persue their dreams?

  • @MChav7 that was rhetorical, i was just showing that contrary to to popular belief, quitting and winning aren't mutually exclusive

  • @JSnyder49428 But quitting college or school to pursure your dreams really isn't 'quitting' or 'being a quitter' in any sense at all. Infact, it's the more like the polar opposite.

Even if it was rhetorical, I still think it's wrong. Jus' sayin'.

  • @MChav7 I get what your saying, personally I think quitting college is still quitting, even if success IS the result.

Actually, I think we have the same opinion but because of a small detail we are both looking at it from completely different angles.

  • @JSnyder49428 Yeah, I kinda got that feeling halfway through writing my reply. But I replied anyway, oh well.

Let's just kiss and make up. wait waht

  • when i refer to the teachers union i am talking about the people who control the education system.

teachers that are in the classroom do not decide what is taught to the kids.

Good teachers should be rewarded and rubbish teachers sacked.

If you want some more information about the teachers union search youtube for:

    Peter Schiff Tuition College

    Milton Friedman Education

Please search for the two things above. You will find them very interesting.

  • I'm a teacher, and I agree with Khan Academy! (I wish I had this when I was in junior high and high school.)

  • KHAN ACADEMY ROCKS!!! My friend Bryan Thum told me about this and it has really helped me A LOT. So whoever watches khanacademy videos please please recommend it to all your friends!!!

  • @T3hPwnageBAM Apologies what I said. You are right. I hope I did not offend you for what I said. earlier. English is not my native language so when I wrote that comment or the "joke" , I could not expressed it the right way, and it sounds a little bit selfish. My apologies :(

  • @T3hPwnageBAM neither you are. By the way, it was a joke what I said.

  • @inso99 Bill Gates earned every penny of what he's made... He didn't capitalize the internet he invented it. " Oh Bill Gates you suck because you invented the internet-" no. Just stop right there. Thanks.

  • The day microsoft moves out of the it industry will be a good day for innovation & fairness.

I just can't stand this man as long as he runs his predatory monopoly; microsoft, alongside of these charities. He also uses these charities as a bayonet for indoctrinating the kids with overpriced monopoly software, when there's free alternatives from people like khan - available. That's like phillip morris giving food and free cigarettes to africa at the same time.

    stop the philantrocapitalism.

  • Bill Gates' children can't afford for school, so they take free lectures from the Khan Academy.

  • @chapulincito2 the only difference between Khan and Schools is the social value, obviously you're not smart enough to know that. Right?

  • Bill Gates dresses like an Average Joe. I like it.

  • Organisms to computers, neutral anosmatic integrations, cultivating conurbation insipidly, insipid conurbation cultures, integrating anosmatic neutralizations, compute to organs !

  • i find that he teaches better than other teachers... and i think that they are made that i hate them x3

  • khan dont yell at me when i get it wrong

  • khan academy ftw

  • @coolsvilleowner KhanAcademy FTW T-shirts :p

  • Comment removed

  • So was Bill right about the 160 iq? Probably close.

  • I love khan academy, it's helped me soo much in math!

  • Several people have made $10,000 contributions; Ann and John Doerr gave $100,000; total revenue is about $150,000 in donations, and $2,000 a month from ads on the Web site.[7] As of September 2010, Google announced they would be providing the Khan Academy with $2 million to support the creation of more courses and to enable the Khan Academy to translate their core library into the world’s most widely spoken languages, as part of their Project 10^100.[8]

  • if I seen this guy id think he was a terrorist but he seems a nice lad, what he is going is fantastic

  • @LAGxBrOwnAng3l

When I was in school I had to study subjects I had no interest in such as French, Art and music.

I wanted to focus on maths and economics but I was told that I had to attend music, French and art lessons.

My parents pay tax which means the teachers have no right to force me to attend subjects I dislike.

I like maths and economics so let me focus on those subjects.

In 10 years all education will be free on youtube. The teachers union will finally be abolished!!!!!

  • @LAGxBrOwnAng3l

I agree with you. I have been to Sweden and my friend lives in Sweden.

Your education system is far better then in the UK.

In the UK parents and children have no control over education. The teachers union forces children until they are 11 to study subjects such as Music, Drama, Art, French, and other weak subjects.

If you have a child that wants to become an engineer or likes science he or she is not allowed to focus on those subjects until they are 11.

  • Gates has publicly stated that he will give away 90% of his wealth during his lifetime. It SICKENS me to have ignorant fools spouting self important bogus outrage without event bothering to know the facts, without even caring to know the facts

  • :)

    :)

  • Bill, you get more and more impressive

  • 1) What's wrong with the video? It looks like it's from the 90's

    2) It SICKENS me to see a man so well off speak so highly of a great organisation and yet not think twice about using his vast wealth to help.

No, it's not required, but damn man have some morals. Your billions are just sitting there, doing nothing, and even a couple mill would help MILLIONS all over the world. It's a unique opportunity, seize it.

If I win the lotto, I am donating a share to Sal.

  • @EuropaBloke What makes you think he doesn't use his wealth to help? Anything? Or nothing? Maybe instead of using "nothing" to inform your opinions, you should some at least *something*, this is a page about education after all. You don't often hear a lot about what Gates does because he doesn't do it for the PR, but in circles like malaria or HIV treatment research, we sure as hell know his money doesn't sit around doing nothing. A lot of people appreciate it, so get your facts straight.

  • @EuropaBloke Wow are you retarded and ignorant. Gates has donated billions of dollars to educational needs and orphanage.

  • Theres so much strife and disagreements in the world but we can all agree on one thing, that teachers cant teach

  • Besides a lot of the already comments known as his engagements , his money ..his innotivative ideas ..(also as a very kindly and beautiful man) ..and also after others opinions sometimes not good of him ...I would think from many years I follow him on the net eccecc that he is of course one of the most intelligent man in the world ..informatics scientists are very very particular people

  • I think it is time Khan academy to become a real academy

  • Nice!

  • congrats, Barishailla Monu, Great achievement :) love to see people from Bangladesh origin doing great around the world, we Bangladeshis are proud of you

  • congrats, Barishailla Monu, Great achievement :) love to see people from Bangladesh origin doing great around the world, we Bangladeshis are proud of you

  • Agreed; Gates Foundation should donate generously to Khan Academy, however I think Gates foundation is already doing a lot in achieving its vision, which happens to be something else albeit useful to our society. Obviously Gates Foundation cannot support all the good ideas in the world as its resources are limited too if not mammoth. Support to Khan Academy should come through general users like you and I.

  • that was a great day!!!!

  • When Gates said wikipedia

    I thought he became stupid

  • the teachers union must be angry with khan for offering free education.

the teachers union is the most evil group because they have poor teaching methods.

khan is the best maths teacher i have had

  • @hyylo Yea I Know, Kahn actually explains the concepts...

  • @hyylo Wrong, I'm in education (public school) myself and this is only motivating for me, and I'm sure for many other public school system educators. I for my part am going to advocate this in my own school. The ultimate goal for any teacher should be an enriched learning learning atmosphere in the school.

  • @victor256in

    hi

Yes I agree with you. The goal of the teacher is to educate. But the goal of the large book publishing companies is to sell expensive books.

Teachers do not control the education system. The large companies who make a profit from education control it.

In 10 or 15 years education will become free on the internet and most teachers who teach poor subjects such as drama, music, art and media studies will be sacked. Some large book companies will also shut down.

  • @hyylo Teachers must be angry with kahn for offering free education? Teachers want their students to learn any way they can. It blows my mind that 80 people agree with this asinine comment.

I do, however, agree that kahn is a great teacher.

  • @dawa101

  • @hyylo and he is best chemistry teacher

  • @icare4it

i hope khan academy starts to teach english. there are lots of children that go to school but do not learn how to read or write because of the poor standards in school.

  • @hyylo Yeah like me, i cant so good english.

    but im not child:)

  • @hyylo got to admit it's a good business model, teaching kids poorly so they drop out and end up having to come back for more education plus teaching them slowly so they don't finish their education until half of their lives are over PLUS keeping them stupid so they don't realize they are giving their money to people who aren't doing anything for them.

  • @hyylo "the teachers union is the most evil group because they have poor teaching methods"

Does Khan teach logic too? Use some.

Does he teach how to research a topic before you speak on it? Do so.

    <3

  • @resaf

when i say teachers union i am talking about the powerful companies that keep the cost of education high.

why does it cost $50,000 to go to a decent college or university? someone is making lots of profit from children that want to learn how to read and do maths.

my comment has 100 positive votes so someone must agree with me :) hahaha

khan is the best. free education for the world.

  • @hyylo

I agree that 50,000$ is way too much to pay for school.. But that is not because of Teacher's unions. I urge you to do your research first. High costs of education are due to government cutbacks and the commercialization of education. Teachers get very little pay for what they do. Not all of them are as good as Khan, but many of them do a very good job for little money. Why you blame teacher's unions is beyond me.

    <3 Khan

    <3 Learning

    <3 You.

  • @resaf

yes you are correct. teachers should earn lots of money as they teach children.

however there is a difference between the teachers in the classroom and the teachers union. Do you know who controls the teachers union? Do you know the how much these individuals make? The teachers union are those power individuals that earn millions each year and control the entire education system.

search youtube for ..... Milton Friedman: Education (Part One)....

it will answer all your questions

  • @hyylo I completely agree. I live in Los Angeles where we have a 50% high school graduation rate.. The public school system has failed America and the teachers and their union should be ashamed of the lack of effort they place on individual students in their classrooms. Like Sal says even if a student gets 90% in a class he's still missing 10% of the lesson and that's a huge gap he's missing. With a "A" you would think that's a good student and he's above average, but still lacks that 10%.

  • Hi !!!Everybody speak of him about his job ,his money his home his social engagements eccecc It could be kindly and interesting to know something also about his private life ..his intelligence wich could also introduced to something else of mathematical ..physics biology...moreover spending fast the time ..as a man , He's young again always sensual but....he is getting tired...

  • @9TEODORA

he's got a wife and kids that's there is to know

  • MR Gates by donating to khanacademy youll be helping thousands of people (including your kids and myself),

give him one of those microsoft multitouch tables its peanuts for u....

Btw its amazing that Bill gates who has enough money to buy and entire university for his kids prefers to use Khan's videos. They are really the best tutorials out there

    Thanks

  • Hey Gates you wanna help kids, stop funding population reduction!

  • @creat3d That does help kids. The kind of children who won't be born due to such funding are the kind of children who will impede the progress of the others, i.e. the unwanted ones who'll disrupt classes, become criminals, etc.

  • @myothernameistaken So reducing the population of Africa will reduce the number of criminals and "class clowns"? Are you on a SSRI or something?

  • @creat3d You honestly can't see how many of Africa's problems stem from them constantly doing the Ethiopian boredom dance? Plus it makes it easier to invade when we in the West need some slave labour and cheap resources once China takes over.

Oh, and I'm perfectly healthy and not on any kind of medication.

  • @myothernameistaken Oh I believe you, I know there are people like you out there that don't need any kind of chemical alteration to their functioning to think like that.

  • @creat3d If I took it upon myself to care about each and every one of the six or so billion people on this planet I'd be in a padded room by the end of the month.

I want what's best for me and people I like. Why should I give a damn about anyone else?

  • Gates complains about smart Americans all going to Wall Street instead of R&D. But Gates has gone before the US congress, many times, and argued that even more US tech workers should lose their jobs to H1B visa workers.

Just last year, even as Microsoft was firing US tech workers by the thousands, Microsoft was simultaneously hiring their H1B replacements.

  • @walterbyrd He doesn't actually run Microsoft now actually...

  • hello Mr gates , yes it would be great if you could donate money to Mr Khan because his tutorials have helped a lot of people like me learn about topics that we needed ....regards

  • Has BIll Gates decided to subsidize the Khan Academy! :D

  • "we've moved about 160 iq points from the hedge fund world to the teaching world." Please, I bet Sal Khan has an iq of well over 1000!

  • Mr. Gates, please donate to Khan. He is a real person with a real desire to teach and he does it with 'intuition' style and humor. I love him and I am a teacher! Your reputation with me would be move from negative to positive if you donated to Khan!

Please support what is working.... : )

  • Comment removed

  • Seriously, a donation would be worthy.

  • Mr. Gates, PLEASE donate to the Khan Academy for us! You can really make a difference.

  • Kahn, you truly have a gift!! To be able to connect with so many people around the world with on so many different levels of education, WOW!! I'm honored to be one of your virtual pupils. I will be introducing my son to you soon. Thank you for sharing your genius, its greatly appreciated.

  • hardly a troll but w/e

  • did he say academicgroup org?

  • Khan Academy better not be taxed to the consumers?

  • All hail the khan!!

  • Whew I can FINALLY say I go to school with billionaire kids.

  • congrats khan

    ur truly making a difference

  • @illestdesimc i think he's saved a lot of students. (including me, although i'm not a student anymore)

  • I'm glad that Bill Gates recognizes Khan's incredible ability to teach. It would be cool if he could also make a donation to the Khan academy if he hasn't already.

You can learn the subject of Ordinary Differential Equations within one day, by watching Khan's tutorials. I did and got an A in the course!

  • Thanks Mrs. Khan!

  • I love Bill Gates... omg Im so jealous of you

  • Wow you impressed Bill Gates. You've done something a lot of specialist programmers and admirers of Bill Gates couldn't even fathom doing in a million years. You definitely have the right to brag, my friend.

  • wow what a plug!!! that is awesome. you deserve it i love your vids.

  • SAL IS THE MAN, bravo Gates. :)

  • 160 IQ

You are way too conservative Mr. Gates. How about you donate 1/10 the worth of the codex Leicester so Mr. Khan can do this and provide for his family :P

  • Good Job Khan!

  • lol I am proud to have been one of the 1st and few followers a few years ago when sal first started

  • congratulations SAL!

  • Sal, you're awesome!

  • o shit dude his kids use ur videos... that's amazing.

  • Hey Mr Gates, love Windows 7 but, donate some to our awesome buddy Sal?

  • LOL "the day that his wife let him quit his job" ^-^

  • yay!!! so exciting Sal!!! :)

  • Congratz keep up THE good work

  • some asshole disliked this video?

    omg

    sal way to go

    i love your vids

    your awesome

  • @HeyyHuda

    Probably Richard Stallman.

  • Way to go Sal!

  • Sal how does it feel the big dog Gates is talking so highly about you?

  • One person gave this a "dislike", I bet he was using a Mac.

  • Look how interested and motivated Bill Gates was from Khan's efforts. That is the inspiration of education - I suspect Bill watched the Area of Inscribed Equilateral Triangle video and learned something himself.

    Congrats! Khan

  • Congrats Sal! I am so happy that your hard work and generosity is being appreciated. You are an inspiration esp to all those people who have good intentions but do not translate them into action. The world is a better place because of people like you.

  • awesome :)

  • good job Sal. you deserved it

  • We are proud of you, SAL !!

  • That an awesome shout out!

  • i'm so proud of you

  • Congrats, Sal. : )

    You deserved it.

  • Congratulations Khan, how cool !

  • Proud of you Sal, aptly deserved... tomorrow the WORLD!... oh wait you already have that under you...

  • good job man

  • finally getting some of the recognition you deserve sal :) who knew i went to the same school as bill gates' kids?! thanks for saving all our asses with these videos sal.

  • i m proud of you sal :-) just keep on sharing knowledge

  • Well done, although the recognition of one man is not as good as the recognition of million's of students world wide. We thank you for giving us this opportunity to learn more.

  • Wow even Bill Gates' kids are enlisted at the Khan Academy :D!

  • shameless self promotion aye ;D

  • you need to brag that shit lol "bill gates watches my videos on youtube" or "i taught bill gates' kids" lol.

  • Hey there Mr.Gates could you donate some money to our humble friend Khan?

  • @TheProTato

ye, just a couple hundred million should cover it =P

  • @TheProTato lol I'm hoping you've donated money yourself

  • @TheProTato That man saved so many of my degree modules lol Honestly, he deserves. I probably owe him like £3500 in tuition fees.

  • did your wife let you to quit your job? or you actually beat her to it? XD

  • Really, wow, you "rub elbows" with Billy Gates. That is pretty cool. Too bad for him that I just switched to Linux a few months ago and fell in love with it. As a matter of fact, I fell in love my my computer all over again. Being 35, and locked out of programming thanks to Micorsoft, we lost part of magic of discovery how our computers operate; we have now found again with Linux. Program, share, change, adapt, all for free, on a platform with the world.
