@kappappa Wrong. He signed with three pre-produced series before Nickelodeon caught up with the agenda John K was perceiving R&S with, and got fired for Ren's assault on George Liquor in "Man's Best Friend". He did take the show into his own, like all the talents do, such as Chris Morris who too got fired for breaking the rules on BBC Radio.
Having said that, while I don't have anything against John K (Ren & Stimpy ISN"T one of my favs, but that's beside the point), I fail to understand why HE didn't why BC wouldn't let him make wholesale changes to his characters. (Remember, briefly, when it was decided to let the Pink Panther and Tom & Jerry TALK? Or, when John K did "three new 'Yogi Bear' cartoons"? [The two are not connected.]}
yea I finished watching his interveiw then watched this and I was like no wonder he didnt like working on them these are boring compared to his own stuff xD
I have respect for Bob Clampett (the guy who "invented' Beany and Cecil).
They wanted Beany to go to SCHOOL. they wanted to make it clear the beany copter could NOT possibly make him fly. They wanted to make it clear Cecil was a figament of his imagination.
But Bob Clampett still owned the rights to Beany and Cecil and would NOT let them. His silly little creation MEANTH something to him. He said "do it right or don't do it at all". And Beany and Cecil 2 was cancelled.
John K. made this so I am expecting to see something that would offend my parents any second.

Beany Boy and Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent, just as funny as always. Though not used to it being animated.

Yeah. I loved cartoons like this. They were complete in themselves and you could watch episodes in any order you wanted. Unlike anime.

DJ's facial expression at about 4:53 is classic and would prefigure similarly grotesque closeups on Ren and Stimpy
