Kermit was on from the first very episode! In 2001, Sesame Workshop, who had paid Jim Henson Productions to provide their characters bought their Muppets, but not Kermit because he was not an exclusive character. What made Kermit famous, is Bein Green is from SS. Being Green is about the insecurities, felt by Kermit's original performer and creator, Jim Henson.
