You know what, after watching this I believe that it's possible to make a Mass Effect movie. Is that a bad thought?

@DarthStar501st Well, to date I've only ever seen one videogame movie that didn't suck ass, so let tempt fate. Making a movie set in the Mass Effect universe, yes, I'd say that could be done. But making a movie of Mass Effect itself? No, I don't think so.

RPGs are probably the hardest genre to convert to a passive media like movies, because they are all about telling your own story. A Mass Effect movie wouldn't work because you'd only ever get somebody else's story.

i am Wery doubtful they can keep it true to mass effect story and atmosphere. what could work is if they focus on shepards rise to the specters . and when he needs help from aliens the alliance try to stop him from having alien crewmembers .

@levitan71 Even doing a prequal (In itself, a word that conjurs up loathing and rage in relation to movies) would be difficult if it features Shepard. Since Shepard's background is player determined, you'd still run into the problem of "Thats not my story", like for example, my Shepard is a female, earthborn, warhero.

I have to reiterate, that if a Mass Effect movie is ever made, it would have to avoid the main story and not feature Shepard that said, Anderson's story on the other hand...

@levitan71 In fact its already been a novel. Hypothetically speaking, who would we cast in this ME movie? Saren, I'd say would be CGI and could have the same voice actor who plays him in the game. As awesome as the actor who voices Anderson is, we're supposed to be dealing with the young Anderson.
