  • 2:16 always makes me think that there are little kittens singing in the backround...

  • I love Italy!!! W L'ITALIA!

  • It's funny 'cause I'm Italian and I love it

  • Well, if she continues like this, one will play almost as well as a man!

  • Very talented and inspiring.

  • Nuclearsalt's got it! This is beautiful.

  • I understand that, because she's a woman, she's supposed to have well-manicured nails and whatever the fuck else...you want her to cook you dinner and shit. The fact is though, she's an amazing musician and certain parts of her body conform to her playing style after a while, which, to me, is fucking BEAUTIFUL.

  • I thought she was a guy when I first saw this. And not because of the name.

  • queen of layers.

  • Absolutely beautiful, an audio experience!

  • So you're saying every dobro and lap guitar player(which most all play open tuning.. esspesially open G which is very popular with the dobro) is bogus?

You are a moron. Do your homework before saying dumb things like that.

  • How awesome is that??!! Kaki King totally rules. Thought that from the first time I heard her play, many years ago. And she's done nothing but impress me since.

  • where i can take this song? there isn't in emule......

  • Why is this not on an album?

  • It's on the Day Sleeper ep.

  • Day Sleeper the indie band...? Interesting. Did she write it?

  • @edmmman What is the tracklist of this EP? I have it but it's all "untitled".

  • @Mixarenan

    Hardenberg

    I Burst

    Dijon Organ Dance

    They Loved It In Italy

    Untitled

    I Burst (Live)

E***** Needs This Song In His Life (Live)

  • @edmmman Oh wow, mine only has 6 tracks. Where did you get yours?

  • @Mixarenan It's one of my recording and it was added on torrents later.

  • jimi hendrix + King crimson =kaki king

  • you should add a beautiful woman to the mix

  • give her a joint some afrohair and you have the jimmy hendrix in girl

  • i really enjoy how the intensity progresses in this piece.

  • awesome

  • so what exactly is that?

  • i'm pretty sure it's called a lap steel guitar

  • Incredible, sooo talented

  • wow

  • No doubt she's talented and innovative, but I'm not sure if this particular song really speaks to me.

  • I really love this song!

  • My favorite song! :) makes me open to try new styles on my guitar

  • Un Fuckin believable!! This is what true instrumental talent is all about. Turn off the radio and tune into KakiFM/AM! I love this!!!

  • shes so brilliant. :]

she needs to put this on a record.

  • this chick fucking rocks. if you cant appreciate this, you need to turn on a radio and stop pretending you like good music and keep on digging the shit spoon fed to you. too many idiots to count!

  • I ditto your sentiments! Un Fuckin believable!

  • increible la flaca..

  • don't dwell in experimental music if you're looking for another britney. just because you don't find access to her tunes doesn't mean she's a bad musician.

  • I don't get why every guy who tries to criticize her creativity and ability just keeps whining about her sex or sexuality.

    People lacks ideas.

ahw, Xaoinsect, did you mean Xaositect? that's why i replied you.

  • Well... I did play Planescape, and the nick is inspired by it. :D

  • I imagined. I even loved Planescape Torment. One of the greatests.

  • i agree with thte sexuality thing

  • u suck big knob, those who can't do criticize those who can

  • she makes me want to try the lapsteel

  • new meaning to "one man band" .

  • this lap steel playing is really erotic....

bet you can't name many women who dare to

    play it...

  • Brilliant.

  • Amazing...

  • i love you kaki

  • oh man, this is song is awesome

  • SENZA PaRoLE!!!

  • great song

  • makes me want to say, "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces!"

  • ok. Ive been watching some videos of this woman and to be honest couldnt work out what all the fuss is about, but this has finally impressed me..this is really good and sounds brilliant, a million times better than playing with pink noise.

  • there are tons of things she's done that are better than playing with pink noise. perhaps her entire catalog of recordings are.

  • I agree. Pink Noise is good. But this is in a whole other level completely

  • I love this woman

  • Amazing!

  • God this song is cool. Its a real treat to be able to watch her play it.

  • awesome!!

  • So fucking cool!

  • shes great just simply great

  • Makes me wanna dance in an odd manor haha

  • and again..... and again..... and again.......

and again..... and again..... and again.......

and again..... and again..... i really should find an other movie about her, this is insane !

  • beautiful

  • Wow... I could watch her play all day...

  • When my computer been turned on, the first thing what I do is: Youtube » Kaki King They Loved It In Italy..... Is it freaky ??? :)

  • I swear I have heard the basic melody to this song in one of her other songs, but it sounds so much different because it is on lap steel.

  • Aha, got it.

It sounds similar to Carmine St, but it is definitely different.

  • i believe is on the day sleeper ep, track 4

  • Lap steel fart! 1:08!

    Lmfao Cute.

  • They aren't grown out, they are acrylic nails for strength and durability. I will agree she has hers very long and they look a little weird, but I will vouch for the awesomeness of acrylics. Once you have them it's really hard to go back. They improve your playing so much and most people don't notice them.

  • i want to cut my penis off, get a silly haircut, and marry this woman.

  • HAHAHHAHAHA

  • I wish I was born to be a girl

I wish I was born to be a Lesbian

I wish i was born to be an American

After all, I Don't have many criterias Why I wouldn't be with Her :)

  • I wish everything you said.

    Except Canadian ;D

  • she is my absolute favorite for real

  • After watching some videos of kaki king she is my favorite guitarist

  • Serious questions: Is that a guitar? And how many other devices is she using? What are they called?

  • its a table slide, and she has a depressor pedal, and an amp!

  • actually its called a lap steel, or hawaian guitar (but that might be just what my guitar teacher called them)

and the pedal is a whammy.

  • oh no i knew it as a lap steel too..jeeze i want one

  • Thanks for answering! Isn't she also using something to record loops and playback? What would that device be called?

  • there are many on the market, they are called loop stations, boss makes a popular model called the RC-50

  • boss makes 2 models now.. but i dont think either is worth any attention, there are much better ones.

  • and no it's not a whammy(digitech)...it's a volume pedal...you can't play a lap steel with out a volume pedal. Oh and she couldn't do all of the looping that she does without one.

  • what album is this from?

  • Yes

  • it doesnt matter if shes a lesgbian shes got talent

  • very nice. :)

  • she's cut her nails *o*

  • BRA-fucking-VO

  • a NEVER ENDING THUMBS UP for her

  • top notch !!! darn good

  • i like how she ue to look with her hair like that.like an elf.shes a kewl elf

  • cool

  • Why give the neg for rafael28 saying "the female robert fripp"? Thats precisely what she's doing here - using a delay loop sampler to record the licks and percussion sounds and having it play back whilst she ad-libs over the top... exactly what Robert Fripp and a whole multitude of other musicians have been doing since the '60s...

  • beautiful & bizarre

this is prob my fav song i've heard from her

  • Always love this kind of clip, where one instrument creates a whole music.lol

  • the female robert fripp, lol

  • If you like kaki king, check out some people who do her style but do it right. Check out Michael hedges, Andy Mckee, many other people play this style but they do it better. They aren't women, but this is supposed to about music, not gender.

  • why do you insist on doing this? it's similar to me going to videos of dave mustaine and saying 'hey, you know tony iommi and jimmy page played fast like this in the seventies. you should go watch them instead.'

its kinda rude and insulting to the intelligence of the people who listen to kaki king, michael hedges, andy mckee, or preston reed. you sound pompous and condescending, not informative.

  • Thank you for giving some names of players you feel are undercredited, I'll check them out but it doesn't matter if they have better technique, Kaki's playing isn't "out of tune" even if its not 440, and she is very relevant as a musician of any gender because of her subtle style and inventive compositions as well as her humility and good humor,I think that is these are typical of greats in any walk of life

  • I like how you are pretentious enough to define Kaki Kings style. Yes those guitarists you've mentioned are great. But you can't compare Kaki King to them.

A lot of people like Kaki Kings music because it's experimental. It's like organised chaos, and the music simply rings true.

Another thing when you're a musician you sort of understand that you don't compare artists with each other.

  • Hedges and Mckee bore me.

  • Honestly, i'd rather listen 100 times to Kaki then Andy Mckee.

Don't take it wrong, he's great, and he outclasses (maybe massacre is the right term) Kaki in pure terms of technique, but his songs don't have even a bit of Kaki's empathy.

She obviously put more then just technique in her songs, but it looks that many people that studied guitar for long time and feel themselves as big experts of the matter lost their ability to feel emotions listening to a song and just criticize its technique...

  • Remember that music is art, not technique.

It's not some kind of silly competition about who's more expert in using an instrument made of metal, wood or plastic.

Art is the ability to create emotions into the people, something that Kaki does very well IMHO.
