  • Geddy Lee can split atoms with his jazz bass.

  • Chickens? Rotisserie? WTF? BTW, Rush is f-ing awesome!

  • RR Rush Rules

  • If you are a new musician and are learning the guitar, bass or drums... you NEED to learn this song!

  • The greatest band of all time. Hands down.

  • The finest live performance of 'overture' IMO

    Robert Nix Rock/Pop Artist

  • aaahhh.... love it..

  • As the "World's Most Nominal Guitar Player"..I am always amazed at how effortless they change Key Signatures and tempo...seamlessness. And oh by the way...to those in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame....it's time, way past due to recognize these three masters with an Induction in the Hall of Fame.

  • Best band ever!

  • Crazy awesome

  • As musicians they are three of the best,,, Neil is the all time best drummer ever.. he may not be the fastest kick or what ever but no one has ever played the drums as an actual instrument like Neil has. Alex is one of the most under rated guitarist ever. Geddy,, as a Bass player myself he is my hero.. i am sorry to see his voice is going. I will miss them when he can no longer preform.

  • Best upload ever

  • I am only 24 born 1987 and was gifted with the ability to have the appreciation for the classics. Anything from Buddy Guy to Rush. P.S. Barker Blows, if you add another piece to his small ass drumset he would probably freak. He is so overrated, yeah he can play drums but he has not impressed me.

  • Even though Neil and Alex aren't related, they definitely look like brothers.

  • Only Geddy Lee would be cool enough to add rotisserie chicken ovens as a stage prop :P

  • NOTE TO ALL ASPIRING DRUMMERS / BASS / GUITAR PLAYERS: Learn This Song... it will give you a foundation to build your musical career on.

  • @escapingedenofficial I would say that's definitely the reason. He had some freakish wails in "Temples." It may have been a cinch for him in his early 20's, but in his mid 50's, it's a bit of a stretch.

  • Neil Peart, proving that the drums aren't they instrument of the devil, since he is the God's secret drumming son.

  • liked it until the vocals.

  • @TooJames that is how i feel about a lot of Rush...not all but a lot

  • @TooJames

He sounds good when he stays in his range but this 1976 track in the original key is way out of his range now thus the 'strained' sound when he sings it in this performance.

Instrumentally 2112 Overture never sounded better live than here.

    Robert Nix Rock/Pop Artist

  • Thumbs up!

  • how can 4 people dislike this!!??

I have so much respect for these guys

  • to all who think neil peart is the best drummer ever watch a good thomas lang video and then tell me what you think.

  • @6393dude

I think all the real people in the world have just been trolled.

  • @6393dude I think if you ask Thomas Lang if he is as good as Neil, he would concede that Neil is the drum god.

  • @6393dude Thomas Lang's good and all, but he's no Neil Peart, in any way, whatsoever.

  • Great Lyrics, with great instrumentals = RUSH

  • how many thousands of times has Alex played that solo? He Still plays it with passion of a first kiss! Kudos to Him!

  • alex lifeson is totally underrated, he is one of the best guitarists out there. nuff said

  • @thecorydude777 Alex also isn't washed up like a bunch of guitarists....he is just as good if not better today....

  • @thecorydude777 every member of rush is underrated, including Peart. Peart doesn't get the attention he needs.

  • @cpmaniac

Peart hates public attention. He gets all the recognition within the drumming community that he deserves, which is A LOT! He is very well admired and respected.

Th last thing Peart wants or needs is tons of public attention and people up in his grill, like Paparazzi and stuff. He absolutely hates that.

  • @HomesliceDrummer that is true. limelight is proof of that.

  • @thecorydude777 I don't know which world you live in where Alex Lifeson is underrated but not in mine. He's always been held in admiration by his peers, young and old.

  • @thecorydude777 Maybe by critics, but the fans and his peers know what the real deal is, same with Geddy's Bass playing.

  • @thecorydude777 THE THING IS,give geddy and neil another song composer...who the fuck people think was the greatest song composer there?Enough said, rush´s melodies are 90% signed by him

and for technical solos people must listen to the yyz solo, that ackward melody or the great CUT TO THE CHASE solo...that one technically speaking in the 70´s rock and roll only him and maybe blackmore would be able to play.

  • @GabrielDhalaman

the fuck are you talking about

  • @lewman321 I am talking about guitar solos jimmy page, gilmour or iommi would never be able to compose or play.

  • @thecorydude777 no, hie is THE best guitar player out there.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • Neil's playing has become much more perfectionist-like.

Incredible clarity in rhythms and fills.

    Old-age my ass

  • NEIL PEART is the reason i started playing drums and is the reason why i keep playing he IS the best drummer in the world and can do anything there is is to know about drumming and 2112 can tell ya that!!!!!!!

  • Blink182? You should be locked in a portable toilet and set on fire for mentioning that on a Rush video.

  • These guys are not in the rock and roll hall of fame!!!!

  • even just bringing up a teenager band like blink 182 on a RUSH video should be punished with a youtube ban. ;-)

  • That kid who stuck up the devil sign is very stupid because Rush is not heavy metal they are prog metal!

  • Neil is the MASTER!

  • O LOCO!!!!!! ESSES CARAS SAO TRANSCENDENTAIS!!!!!!

  • does anyone else think there is no sound like the neil peart quad?

  • Such a shame that these guys aren't recognized on a daily basis as one of the best bands of all time. It makes me so upset that all this new shitty mainstream crap is taking over, bands like Rush are still around.. and fucking rocking.

  • No shit

  • RUSH, THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Seeing these guys on June 30th!

  • @kchammaer My 38 year old son and I were there up in the nosebleeds - AWESOME concert!!!

  • 2:52 so gooooooood wow wow wow wow

  • This is the tightest version I've ever see them do!!!

  • here here

  • here here

  • intant of the great coments i shockt, father brhone crushed my musical instrument...

  • this reminds me, i got to read fountainhead again

  • they should have split 2112 up so that the beginning could be an instrumental. it would probably be the best.

  • @maggot1111666

I missed Jimmy Hendrix. Um, Jimmy page is not underrated, he is considered top five guitarist in multiple sources, as he should be. listen to his solos, they are VERY good. he also plays weird syncopation a lot like in black dog. If you don't like Joe Satriani thats ok, i havent seen any really good solos from him on youtube, I just took other peoples word for it. I will look one up now thats good to show you tho if you think hes bad.

  • The best rock band in the planet.

  • So perfect ,no rapers, fireworks, trapezes, trap doors ,the MUSIC SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!! AFTER 25 YRS!!!

  • @davetileguy ...Amen, dave...saw them in New Orleans June 10,

and Rush kicked ass from start to finish...too good to be in the

RRHoF next to Madonna and Run DMC..

  • Rush's closest rivals are coheed and cambria

  • GODS!!

  • The definition of timeless music.

  • Geddy might not be able to sing as hogh but he still kicks ass on the bass

  • my favorite part of this song is the echo of Alex's Guitar

  • lo -ve

  • I'm not a huge Rush fan (Queen has always been my favorite band) but THIS song has no equal. IMO the intro is the best five minutes in rock music.

  • Do they ever play 2112 in its entirety?

  • @aligatorsandwitch72 They used to, but they don't anymore, if you want to hear them play it all the way through live, on their live album 'different stages', they play it in its intirety.

  • @soothslayer21 Yeah I have All The World's A Stage and they played it in its entirety. I just wanted to see a video of them doing it.

  • @aligatorsandwitch72 The youtube videos that are labeled "Rush - 2112 - Live 1976" I believe are the complete footage of 2112 live on All The World's A Stage. There are 2 parts.

  • Awesome guitar tone Mr. Lerxst!

So rich 'n thick - you could spread it on toast.

  • It sucks that he cant sing as high anymore

  • Who can dislike this?

  • No one, I repeat, no one, is better than Rush. My classmates at my high school just don't understand that, they think Motley Crue is better or Nickelback *shudders*. Or they don't even know who they are. I wish I was born in the 50s so I could witness all this awesomeness.

  • @riff5fki The 50's? lol

  • @Oculed1 ah i see what you mean, nevermind

  • it really pisses me off when these young ass snot nose punk kids on youtube say that travis parker of blink182 is as good as neil pert if not better......iam like WTF DUDE

  • @chubphucka WHO SAYS THAT????...i mean....your joking arent u?

  • @chubphucka Chill due we know he's not, RUSH musics best kept seceret still playing small arenas not like Snow Patrol Kings of Leon ect ect..

  • @chubphucka No where near as good. My fave drummers are Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan R.I.P, Joey Jordison and Neil Peart !!!!

  • @chubphucka rush is my favorite band and i have seen them in concert three times so far and blink 182 is one of my favorite bands. travis is a very unique player and is in absoloutley no way, comparable to Neil. Neil is a prog drummer and travis plays more alternative punk. Travis is one of the best in that style and neil is one of the best in prog. you guys need to stop comparing drummers and complaining and just listen to the music

  • @chubphucka Why would they say that? They don't even know who Neil Peart is!

  • @chubphucka Is Neil Pert the guitarist of Rush? Because if he's not then I don't know who either of those people are and someone should explain it to me.

  • @chubphucka Nevermind, I figured it out, Neil is the drummer, and he's an amazing drummer too.

  • @chubphucka I happen to be 16 and a huge fan of both blink and rush...travis does not even begin to compare to niel peart. Niel peart isprobably the greatest drummer alive right now and one of the best who has ever lived. (up there with John Bonham, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, etc.)

  • Travis is a good drummer but the only drummer in the world that 's as good Neil is Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater

  • @rocker4ever11 Who?

  • @EDRT5Y124 Mike Portnoy. He was the drummer for Dream Theater and he played drums on Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare album. He's an awesome drummer and a huge Rush fan and his biggest influence is Neil. There's some vid of him playing Rush covers on Youtube.

  • @rocker4ever11 Portnoy is not from dream theater anymore, he left. Mike mangini replaced him and he is better in my opinion. Anyways, mike is not as good as peart. Peart rarely shows off so its rare you get to see his true skill.

  • @StickHits He was still part of Dream Theater for over 20 years. And Mangini's a good drummer and Dream Theater's new album is amazing. But Portnoy is the better drummer who gets alot of influence from Neil.

  • It's not "played in a lower key" or "a step lower" guys, it's exactly as on the album, if you know how to play it just watch their fingers...he had to totally change the melody about 15 years ago, catch up already. Big deal...the ROCK this song

  • @Hopspop dude they tuned down a whole step. when you tune down itll still look the same. and yes i spent many months of my pubescent years learning the whole 20 minute version.

  • @glassmoon91 you're right, they detuned my bad. Makes it sound bigger too, common tuning in hard rock for the low D, which is probably part of the reason they do it

  • @Hopspop It's actually so Ged can hit the high notes more easily, He said it in an interview.

  • the best three man group of all time and better than most 4 and 5 band member bands

  • Geddy looks so much cooler and nobler now than he did in the 70s and 80s.

  • Rush never get complacent with their live performances. Some bands get lazy with age and you can hear it but not these guys.

  • Given that Lee is approaching 60 and sang 2112 when he was in his 20s, he's still not doing too badly with the vocals.

    I know it's a step lower, but still - I don't think I could reach those notes and I'm in my 20s.

  • I hate to say this, but this is really the first time I've said to myself, "Self, Alex is really looking old...."

  • @mydoggiesmom self you are a fucking moron

  • kudos to rush for their lifelong love of music, their individual talents and mighty chops, their long successful voyage as a writing and touring band, and the way they can rock out way hard and say profound things at the same time - plus the tour de force self-presentation of a simple trio still making all this music

  • Alex taught me how to play, and I have never met the Man!

  • That is the Most beautiful guitar in the world

  • Sounds nothing like on the album...

  • @ProgDrummerJDG Dude, they are a LOT older and have to play the song a whole step flat from how they recorded it. As far as I remember from seeing them live, this was the only song they played in a lower key. That ain't too bad for a bunch of old guys.

  • some of the worst singing ive ever heard, sounds nothing like the album

  • @maggot1111666 Well he is an old man now. He sings alot better in live preformances from the 70's/80's

  • @theamazingzivmaster

true, but it still wasnt great back then, and my friend hates him on studio. if rush had a really strong singer they would be much better.

  • @maggot1111666 Yeah, I can understand how people can't stand his voice. I've never really been annoyed by it though. Sounds fine to me ^^

  • This song is freaking amazing, i've probably listened to the entire thing 2112 times

  • ever wonder how their music seems to follow BIBLICAL teachings in parable sort of way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2 people are priests of the Temples of Syrinx...

  • we need to get this comment to have 2112 thumbs up

  • GOING TO SEE THEM IN MONTREAL! FUCK YEAH!

  • GREATEST DRUMMER ...ALIVE

  • Music of the gods! Makes me wish I was Canadian

  • halls of fame are for the mass market. clever marketing . promoters driven by money and mass voting hype carried out by dj for high ratings in short the best are above this game. and follow their soul and sound and stay true .you can ask no more from rush thay are awesome

  • Im just gone 14and ive only been listening to rush for a month (plz cut mee some slack) but ive got to say why didnt i listen to them earlier? Awesome song, Awesome band.

  • 2 people are just bitches....

  • I can't believe Rush tickets are £56 to sit in the heavens at the O2 Arena!... As much as I love em, this is one gig I can't afford to go to. Especially when I'll only be able to see them on a giant screen. I may aswell wait for the DVD to come out?! Least then I can sit in a comfy chair and have a cigarette with my beer!

  • @723398216 I got some Mega tickets for MENA 2 weeks ago, yeh bit pricy but worth it for the seats - try Manchester gig on ticketmaster. Rich

  • @wmrxb15 cheers mate :-)

  • agree with all of the comments Rush are and always have been that bit different that is what makes them so special

  • fuck the rock and roll hall of fame!

  • Touche' Under23. What the hell does anybody know if this is how it is. As long as we love their music and keep supporting them, they will always be considered hall of famers.....

  • Nice to see the nose healed well alex.Did you eat a child?

  • So I take it that most of you here a RUSH fan's?

  • all hail RUSH, probably the greatest rock band of all time

  • Sexy bass there Geddy =D

  • i can do 0:00 to 1:36

  • they are not my favorite band but imo they are the best band to ever walk the earth.

  • Rush is a Canadian band. You might want to fact check (and spell check) before spewing your knowledge onto the rest of us.

  • No one else could ever sing the line "our great computers fill the hallowed halls" without looking like a dork. Geddy rocks it out!
