Correct me if im wrong. But if im not mistaken, mustangs were not produced until 1965. However, they're were 10 prototypes made in 64. My grandfather (still alive today) recived one as a gift when he was around 18. But he got it in the year 66, so he didnt think anything of it. He beat that thing to shit, sold it next to nothing. Now he beats himself over it all the time. still. I have pics. It was deffentlyone of the prototypes. nice stang by the way :)
@greenrolaids It's only a 302 cubic inch v8, 5.0 liters, it should be able to manage around 25 mpg on the highway with that 5 speed, if the owner can keep his foot out of it. The 427 twin turbo 1,750 horsepower Nelson engine can manage 18-19 mpg...
everyone wants a blower or twin turbo and most of the cant even get the power to the ground.......nothing wrong at all with 400hp thats still a good mid to low 13second pass roughly in one of these or even a high 12....Does need some Edelbrock HOOKER mufflers though! Drones a bit
Hey! You're local. I have a 64 Mustang convertible my father gave me....when I get some extra cash, I wanna see if you could do a small mod to my motor too
how much dose a 302, single turbo, carbarated, and at least 1000hp cost building a 85 stang and in my group everyone runs nitrous or blowers i waunt to be the first to run turbo
@monsterink101 uh, ok you need a turbo large enough to compress enough air to produce 1000 out of 302 ci. and the 302 block would have to be tough enough to handle it, so essentially to custom build. shit loads. you are looking at around 25k+ for the whole set up and then you are going to have trouble fitting it into the 85 mustangs small fox body
@dmied1 holy crap but just a thought the block that can handle the hp it only cost $2000 and the rest of the parts are not that bad if just wondering where you get $25k
@monsterink101 thats how much i got quoted for a setup with a 351 and a procharger to produce 1200 fly hp including sequential tremec gearbox so i'd imagine to get similar power and sustainability from a 302 would cost about the same
wait did you say 100 horsepower? cuz i gotta 302 CI HO pushin 225 horsepower at 4000 RPM's and that is all stock and in fact i wanna build it up when i get money
i wanna say that...i think that's a street in northridge called winnetka lol..i could be wrong and a mess of people always speed down that road lol and at the end towards 5:30 is probably winnetka theaters? lol sweeeeet ride!!!!
i wanna say that...i think that's a street in northridge called winnetka lol..i could be wrong and a mess of people always speed down that road lol and at the end towards 5:30 is probably winnetka theaters? lol
It's a roller 302 block out of an '86 GT, and the heads I bought are off of a '69 Hi-Po 302, (I hadn't heard of them before, but the casting is DO-0E) and we've had just about everything done to them in regard to machine work. Three angle valve job, magnafluxed, etc etc. We found a 400hp 302 build article in a magazine and followed it with every part, so it's kind of a rough guess, but should be pretty close.
Wish I knew what mufflers is he using on this car? I ve been trying to find the right muffs for my 67 for a while and after you buy so many tryin to guess, it gets expensive.
What kind of shifter is that? It looks like something out of a Shelby Cobra...I can't seem to find it online. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. -v
nice little well built 302, this is a perfect engine in this little restomod stang. sure they could of put a 1000+hp turbo engine in this thing but i think with this mild 302 i am sure its got more then enough to go out and kick some ass.
keep a 302 for 2 reasons, 1 not everyone can afford a nelson big block tt, 2 if ur getting 400 horse from a 302 in a pony car u dont need 2 much more in a street car. ya more power is more fun but that will get the job done
I am a huge Chevy fan, but it's hard not to totally love the sound a Mustang makes.

302s (stock FI ones) are doggy, but some of the older ones and just about all of them built up are angry lil' screamers.
