@theATTC, that is a fantastic looking pipe sir! I absolutely love the crosses on the front. I just started carving my pipe tonight out of pipe. I also have a swiss army knife right now, but I will have access to drill bits and that kinda stuff soon. I would seriously buy a pipe like the one you just made. I LOVE the natural, aged, earthy look. And its good to see a Tobacco pipe maker on here, all the other videos I saw were of kids making weed pipes...this was a pleasant surprise!
@WoodyNFla34482 There are a plethora of great places to buy stems. If you pause the video right when I put the stems arrived placeholder you will see exactly where they came from. GERMANY! :-) Its the longest Vulcanite stem I could find for a churchwarden.
I have a quick couple questions 1: have you made any other pipes? this one is just beautiful and am looking forward to seeing your other creations!
2: have you smoke this one yet and if so how does it work for you?
3: can you send me some info on making pipes? A friend and I are very interested in putting some together and would love any info you have on polish carving tools size requirements etc any info is great! Again great work on the pipe its a great piece of art!
1) I have made several other pieces. I will be showcasing my works very soon via the upcoming launch of BriarWorld. com so please look for that very very soon.
2) This one does not particularly smoke well being that its Cedar. I was on a limited budget on my first pipe so it was a test run. It smokes GREAT to be honest, but the cedar was too green and it heats to harshly.
3) I would love to help. We are actually in the process of completing the legal requirements for our
...(3)...website BriairWorld. com and it will give you detailed instructions that we have pieced together form all over the world from the industries greatest and most knowledgable professionals. So please look for that soon. But for now you can go to the link posted there for the forums and find plenty of useful info.
This is incredible looking. sorry to hear it split, though. My poker I made from plum did the same thing. It was the result of a bad cut and me being an amateur haha. Speaking of plum, I hear it's a good wood to use in pipe making. If you try it, though you should really make very thick walls ;)
@TMNT556 Well all in all (if you have the tools) It only cost me about 22 dollars. That is purely because I had to order the stem I wanted from Germany. The wood was just a wedge of cedar firewood my friend had in his shed. This was my first pipe I have ever created so I didn't want to invest too much money into it. But Since then I have created more and still this one is my baby. It smokes SO well, BUT (big but) I wouldn't recommend using cedar, as it tend to split in high heat. She's retired!
Wow! Just wow! That is absolutely gorgeous my friend! How much do you think all the time, labor, and supplies that went into that would be worth? If it is something you would be interested in I would love to have you make me that pipe later on down the line once my pipe budget expands. Again, absolutely beautiful pipe!
@dmansley1986 I would say all and all about 15 to 20 hours over the course of a few weeks time. This is something that I am sure wouldn't take an experienced pipe maker nearly as long to create. But, this is my first. I will get faster. :)
As far as creating custom pipe for anyone, We will be taking requests in the next few months. Possibly by January. Provide your email address for me and I will keep you updated on the site progress.
@splugen , YouTube won't allow me to post the URL in the comments so if you would like to email me, I would be more than happy to share that information with you.
@Milverton68 Thank you very much. My first of many more attempts at Pipe carving. I tell you...It has been quite a learning experience. The whole pipe history.

how did u make the designs and carving in the sides? like the crosses and such. zip me an email at bigplayclay10@gmail.com
bigplayclay12 10 months ago
@bigplayclay12
I had to carve/dremmel the crosses and I just did it by eye so to speak. Fairly tough given the grain of the wood.
