  • Needs about... 20 minutes of uninterrupted applause at the end.

  • amazing........

  • Who is the violinist? This is a particularly masterful performance.

  • Love it!

  • So what is the actual name of this song? I can't seem to find it in any other forms....

  • this is weird, from 00:25 to 01:10 it looks like "playground love" from AIR which came out in 1999...

  • i like at 2:04.. so beautiful music!

  • Thank you for posting this long list !! I love his music, and just listened to Seven Samurai, praying for the workers at Fukushima power plant,. Did´nt notice this was a playing list. Bless Ryuichi , bless Japan and it´s people !!

  • 坂本龍一…彼はなぜこんなにも素晴らしい曲を創り出せるのか。。。

  • It's rather nice to see a mostly piano performance w/ a little synth added for affect...you don't see many others allowing that...like it's all piano or nothing. If tasteful, why not use ANY instrument?

  • love this hair..

  • saved my life

  • @ooooroni

    no one cares.

  • amazing. i would love the sheet music for this. but is no where to be found. :( beautiful peice of music .

  • brilliant absolutely brilliant.....enough said!!

  • The most beautiful soundtrack in my life - since I first saw the movie. This music takes me where nothing and nobody else can. More than heaven and hell.

  • Probably the most moving pieces of music I've ever had the pleasure to listen to. Although I disliked the film this soundtrack was made for, it certainly captures the spirit of the book. It dances from wild to still, beautiful to heart wrenching and above all it loves.

  • The asian Francis Lai.....? Love it

  • 1:22が凄い

  • one of my favorite movie and music... his inspiring music provokes imagination.

  • I like very much that song)

  • A true masterpiece

  • Totally love this man's expression and music.

  • When I hear this piece, I float away in time and space. I LOVE it, and always will.

  • @tsugumiful i think he is making love.

  • I saw this film again this morning and am always in awe of this music, it makes this film so beautiful. His composition is magical. I have seen this soundtrack for sale but it's so expensive at 45 pounds! Bring it back for us music lovers at an affordable price!!!!

  • The beginning gave me chills. The nice kind, of course. :)

    Sakamoto's music never gets old.

  • He's Brilliant...*

  • one of the most perfect soundtracks...

  • A tremendous representation of Bronte's novel. No matter how many times I listen to it.. I just absolutely love this piece. Sakamoto captures the mood, the tone of the novel and its complex characters incredibly well.

  • A music that can alter the colour of one's mind and soul, it has changed mine... I can't stop listening to this piece. It gives me chills... Beutiful...Moving...There are no words equivalent of this masterpiece. How truly and deeply I'm in love with it...

  • he's genius! Amazing...

  • georgeous!!!

  • loved it but prefered the version with all the instruments playing :)

    still amazing

  • wonderful performance ever!

  • I can go so far...dreaming

  • Beautiful...thankyou..I adore the version adapted for the film...so beautiful..

  • I love that part of the book where Heathcliff says: "Catherine Earnshaw, may you not rest as long as I'm living! You said I killed you - haunt me then!"

It goes perfectly with the desperation transmitted by Sakamoto. Genius!!!!

  • Para uma grande jornada...:-)

  • strings and piano, very spellbinding song

  • ryuichi is prob off in another world as he's playing this, trance mode

  • best pianist EVER

  • His soundtrack for the movie is absolutely AMAZING.

  • This is Mná na hÉireann!!!!

  • well the intro is quite similar!!!!

  • i love it . I dreamt about this music for days after watching 1992 version . It is expression of the way you feel after reading Bronte's book. Thank you for this amazing feeling that your music creates.

  • the 1992 version is absolutely fantastic and dramatic...the music explains the desperation and desire perfectly...

  • genious!!!!!!!

  • please, someone know where I can found the score of this brilliant theme song? I go a lot of time want for it and I can´t find it, please if someone know how or where i can find it, say it to me. ^^ thanks

  • ryuichi sakamoto,giorgio moroder,ennio morricone....MAESTRO!

  • @Avidcita I don't wish to be a jerk, but when anyone writes or composes and then performs or publishes, the origins of the performed or published work are, invariably and without any exception in all human history, "within." Where else? Just because it comes "from within"--that desn't make it good or bad, either. For all we know, this guy privately believes he is Napolean Bonapart or something, and just doesn't mention it. Even if he's a genius, he could be a crazy genius, so be careful....

  • @derek4ur It's because his music is superb and makes my life more beautiful, for instance.

  • @derek4ur Twat

  • @derek4ur "New Age Classical?" I'm not sure I even know what that means... but whatever it is, it's not this.

  • @TomKaren1994 Whatever--I call it that, here, because I read elsewhere--in a comment by a fan of Sakamoto--that that is what this music is properly called, in genre.

I haven't any idea if this is properly called, "New Age Classical" or not--I just assumed the other comment was accurate.

I really should never have slammed Sakamoto's stuff--I was like Bambi trying to kick Godzilla's ass, ignorant of his stuff that I now really like, and not listening well or carefully.

    Very sorry.

  • @SomethingsIronic I don't feel I had quite so strong an insult coming, but i wish I hadn't posted negative, or even semi-critical stuff about Sakamoto, because he has done some truly great stuff.

If he's good enough for Bertolucci, he's awesome, and that's all there is to it.

  • I love this piece. It's very powerful and portrays the book incredibly well. Who is the cellist accompanying them? He deserves some recognition as well : )

  • Hmmm... I think the cellist would be Jaques Morelenbaum : )

  • And for the sake of fairness, the violinist is Everton Nelson. :)

  • i am a musician myself and i must say i have listened to very few musicians that can communicate so effectively to an audience

  • i like how his concerts are not 2 fancy with 2 much background stuff... real clean and wonderful music..

  • Quite zen, huh? : )

  • THE HAIR ROCKS!!!

  • das schönste, das je komponiert worden ist........

  • My favorite!!! 3:04 - 4:12. I absolutely love it!!! One of the best OST I've heard... I can feel the torment, but I can feel also the peace when they are at last together.

  • Sakamoto is great!

And the string players are too!

  • anybody knows where i can get his music sheet, particularly this song?

  • Wow... I'm crying right now. That was beautiful.

  • exelent!

  • I always love Sakamoto's music. The 1st time I knew his works was from the soundtrack album of The Last Emperor 14 years ago in Sydney. And I became his fan ever since. Many of his works amazed me from how he bring emotion to his music, and it has the ability to make you drawn to the music itself. My other favourites are, Rain, Merry Christmas mr. Lawrence and The Sheltering Sky...

  • 映像喚起力の高い楽曲。

    アイルランドのうすら寒い高原が眼に浮かぶ様です。

    私はこのトリオヴァージョンより、

    オリジナルサントラ版が好きです。

  • Magnificent!!!!

  • Omg. 2:18, the call and response between the whistle and the violin.

  • Ryuichi Sakamoto is a musical genius. To be able to put so much raw emotion into one song takes a great gift.

  • Grandissimo Nino D'Angelo!

    Mi emozioni sempre!

  • best song ever ... ^^

  • Beautiful song, and the version in Wuthering Height's soundtrack is even better ^^

  • Wonderful performance! He looks a bit like Gackt in the shadows. Is he any relations to Kyu Sakamoto? (he had huge hit in US with Sukiyaki)?

  • preciosa

  • Awesome track !

  • che emozione. . .

  • Excelente melodía, no me canso de escucharla, os recomiendo ver la peli

  • which song is it in ryuichi sakamato's album?there are many of song I can't discriminite this song :)

  • Bellisimo!! maravillosa musica...

  • thanks for the vid!

  • nice song.

  • The same tune is used in " Barry Lyndon" It is called " Women of Ireland". That was played before Sakamoto was born. Am I missing something here ?

  • "Women of Ireland" a.k.a. "Mna na h Eireann" is a traditional gaelic song. so this theme is based upon it.(i remember once RS mentioned about it on a radio show). CD credit says "album produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto", but a bit obscurity remains.

  • This is wonderful...

  • Loved the soundtrack to this film. Now to get the CD one of these days.;) Great musician Mr. Sakamoto is!

  • Yes this is the one from the movie :)
