I just got my first Macbook Pro the other day, not gonna lie, I'm liking Apple better than PC. One of the reasons I got it was because I'm a film student and you definitely cannot get Final Cut Pro on a PC. But get this, you can get windows programs on a MacBook if you use this one software called "Parallel". So it's kinda like two computers in one.

What u need is an external drive formatted in the HFS+ file system. U can reformat any drive to HFS+ with a small application called "disk utility" found in /Applications/Utilities.

2 minutes of google searching could have saved your friend 200bucks.
