  • ya that shot at 0:39 is fucking ridiculous...

  • tahts sic

  • This video is an excellent example of how loose shots will sink you. Hit any loose shot against a top player and it will be put away. The importance of accuracy in squash cannot be overstated, overshadowed only by fitness.

  • @olympicsingapore2010 "Olympic Game" New "Squash" Now!!

  • this was before the lehman brothers went bust.

  • Wow that is some power in his wrists!

  • That shot at 0:39 is crazy!! Such a clean hit with brutal force!

  • jesus thats silly stuff. such nice deception

  • Wait, what...what shot was played at 0:39? I only saw the ball ending up in the front forehand corner. :S

  • @SheepDiAsia i think thats the deception part

  • @beesa888 Mhm, but was is it a feint then a drop shot or some retarded boast? : l

  • @SheepDiAsia either was it was a great shot

  • @SheepDiAsia It´s a kill right into the nick

  • @SheepDiAsia Straight nick

  • thanks jone for sharing this great video with us

  • 0:39 is awesome!

  • Fantastic upload.

Always awesome to see the great Australian players on the 90's play.

  • Look how loose both of them are hitting the ball. Hit any of that garbage against any top 6 player right now and you will be in trouble.

  • and any shot you hit will be destroyed by a 12 year old

  • @funlovingmonkey

try hitting with those heavy/power less racquets!

any top 6 player CANNOT produce that standard of play with those racquets. You must be crazy to say something like that.

  • @hellykful Just go to the psasquashtv site and watch the Barrington v Barrington exhibition in the feature section (it's free). Joey plays with a racquet older than ones used in this video and still produces powerful shots and winners, and he is not a top six player. Anyone who has any sense at all know that the level of play is much higher now.

  • @funlovingmonkey

i saw that match. That is exactly why i said that it's very difficult to hit with those racquets. I tried hitting with an old wooden racquet. It was a NIGHTMARE!

You can say that it is much more competitive now a days. Not that the level of play is much higher ...

  • @hellykful ther not playin with wooden rackets tho

  • the way Brett Martin holds the ball for so long before hitting his shot is exceptional. So much power from a shortened swing.

  • impossible to compare the two era's really. Egyptians have taken over squash now with their awsome racket skill, back then it was more about stamina and strength. Except with Brett Martin it seems lol

  • The Most exciting player i ever saw play was Brett...and his brother wasn't bad either!

  • Rodney was an excellent player isn't it funny how most of us came from that era after Hunt

  • not slow you idiot , it was more tougher and prolong games, match can go up to two hours as comparison of 30 minutes final you ignorant .

  • these guys rock

  • ..so slow compared to today's game.

  • lol

  • It's true though. And it isn't because of PAR11 either...

  • squash always looks slower on a computer or tv you idiots. b. martin could hit it harder than john white.

  • fairly sure the pace has been upped in the modern game though. I don't mean in terms of power- there is just more taking the ball early, less time to play your shots. The best players nowadays are as much about taking time away from their opponent as playing tight squash. Plus every single player in the top 10 now is an unbelievable mover, which means the game has to evolve and become quicker so people can actually win rallies!

  • @juniorlamojo i haven`t seen much of Brett martin play but it does seem he had more consistent accuracy than White. Not as `wild`with his shots...

  • and also, this is from 1994 so i dont think the cameras were as good as they are today...

  • I can hit harder than White and Martin too.

  • it was also the final of the tournament

  • I have this on DVD. You can learn a lot of disguise shots and changes in shot pace from Brett. Eyles wins

  • awesome! do you know where I can order DVDs like this from that era of squash?

psa live has some, but doesn't really have whole games from that time

  • The films are shot by Jean De Lierre of SquashLive and you can buy the DVDs from the SquashLive website. He has Brett playing Peter Marshall, Peter Nicol and Rodney Eyles, all from the Tournament of Champions.

  • superb - thanks for that!

  • eyles 3-1

    very very good match

  • awesome who wins the match

  • brilliance
