The two wattled cassowary is another example. A bird with a temper. Branded the closest we got ATM along with chickens and pigeons to dinos as they were..probably one of the earliest to evolve and escape mans clutches. Learnt from the poor dodos mistakes. turtles i dont know but i do know gators and crocs are no dinosaurs, during the time of the dinosaurs there were already gators and crocs, they just survived while dinosaurs evolved into birds

The name "Dinosaur" was coined in 1842 long before we knew much about them (many original class/order names fall foul of the same problem, 1st species found tends to prejudice the naming process).
The modern definition of a Dinosaur is mostly to do with their gait (see wiki/Dinosaur#Classification) as determined by the shape of their pelvis.
As it says in the Wiki article "Dinosaur legs extend directly beneath the body, whereas the legs of lizards and crocodilians sprawl out to either side."

Yes of course you are correct, Dinosaur means Terrible Lizard. Like I said though, the name was coined in 1842. It was coined by Sir Richard Owen, on the basis of a handful of species found at the time.
We now know they were distinctly different from Lizards, but we are stuck with the name.

Take for example "troglodytes" meaning "cave-dweller" coined around 1775 for Chimps.
You don't find many Chimpanzees in caves, but once again the name stuck.

And yes, there are warm blooded reptiles. And you will always find that the tree of life is incomplete because there are overlapping animals like the platypus which lays eggs and has hair on it's body and flippers like an otter and a beaver tail. But that still does not make a reptilian into a bird.

Yes of course you are correct, Dinosaur means Terrible Lizard. Like I said though, the name was coined in 1842. It was coined by Sir Richard Owen, on the basis of a handful of species found at the time.
We now know they were distinctly different from Lizards, but we are stuck with the name.

@kandtell This is actually not my problem. If scientists classify newly discovered creatures as lizards while they should belong in a different category of reptiles then they are mistaken. And yes, there are warm blooded reptiles. And you will always find that the tree of life is incomplete because there are overlapping animals like the platypus which lays eggs and has hair on it's body and flippers like an otter and a beaver tail. But that still does not make a reptilian into a bird.

@kandtell Btw, besides having these rules for belonging in a order of that tree, there is the visual recognition. Meaning that every 2 year old child can categorise the creatures. Thats why a platypus is a mammal, because it's beak is but a tiny percentage of it's body. Every 2 year old can see it has no feathers. Dinosaurs also have no feathers, but scales.

@kandtell What more need one say about anatomical differences between the dinosaur and the bird? Every 2 year old knows these are reptiles. lizards with overlapping scales. Why look at the respiratory system (large bodies needed alot of oxygen and birds metabolism requires complex repiratory design) or teeth on the archeoptrix (the exception proves the rule, it doesn't take it away!) to say dinosaurs are birds.. That just proves how hopelessly false this theory is.

I'm a bit skeptical yes, about carbon dating as it has fundamental flaws in it. Yeah, i'm a bit skeptical on potassium argon dating or any radioactive dating method as they all have the similar flaws. They weild large variety of dates and the dates that fit charles leyles theory are then picked.
