To see how bad Jerrys butchered the band by the addition of a disco version of Jimi Hendrix. AIC is dark, their following is dark. Not a good fit at all.
Sorry, keys slipped. Just curious. If you look up "Leave Me Alone," by Jerry, it's on the Cable Guy film, one wonders why Cantrel doesn't take over the mic and use Duvall as rhythem.
I love Jerry's solo material & I totally believe he can carry AIC without Duvall. I mean fuck, Jerry's the genius behind most of the writing past & present.
is this some kind of a sick joke? i mean.. AIC fans have become accustomed to "butter".. and now they try to serve us "margarine".. sorry.. im not buying it.. AIC 2.0 sucks ass.. it just sounds like bad karaoke to me.. i think a far better approach would have been to find a female vocalist to replace layne.. i mean.. seriously.. a female vocalist would be a great way to keep it fresh and new.. no doubt some old fans would be pissed off.. but lets face it.. the magic died with layne!
Well, that's kinda sad. And ridiculous. A FEMALE singer?!? What are you snorting, and can I have some? It's the same. fucking. music. Honestly. Yeah, he's different, but face it, Layne is gone, and we all get it that Duvall is different. But try to appreciate the music for what it is. It's good music. Don't hate it because it's not the AIC you knew. We've all heard that TOO MUCH. That'd be like me buying a Marshall amp because it's so well-known. Yeah, Layne was the best, but you have to move on
Hmmm, maybe the female from the tryouts for the failed band of Tommy Lee (Rock Star: Supernova).
Jill Gioia and Jerry Cantrell... now that's a combination that I'd like to hear. They'd have to work at it.. but the bringing together of the two would and could be another phenom.
Nah, Bill aint no Layne Staley....by a LOOOOOONG shot!
In fact, somebody needs to get Bill to cut down that fro some. Afros and metal/hard rock don't mix. At least put some dreads, braids or something in it. If I were Jerry or one of the others, I'd be having a little sit-down time with him and get that shit resolved. Lenny Kravitz was his own band, so he could do what he wanted, but this shit here looks like hell.
how about jimmy hendrix and Lenny Kravitz, they have afros and i don't think people care about that. I think that people focus more on their stage presence and their music, then their hair style.
I just picked the new album up today on vinyl, it is amazing how the new singer sounds so much like Layne, The new album is fantastic, I would say it has impressed me as much as "Facelift" did when it came out.
first time i heard this on radio i thought it was a song layne might of done vocals for before he died but i was amazed that it was the new singer bought the cd soon as it came out aic still kicks ass
No, no name change. DuVall puts enough of Layne's style into it to come of right. Layne wasn't kicked from AIC. He made bad decisions and passed on. Give AIC a chance. I believe as you. Cantrell is the driving force. Don't take it away from him.
Luciuswake, in all actuality dude Cantrell is like 75% of everything AIC did. Don't get me wrong AIC is my favorite band and Layne is a God amongst music, but Cantrell wrote damn near every song as well as the lyrics. If anyone be deemed the real driving force I'm gonna put my money on Jerry. That's one reason the new stuff still feels so good and fucked up, is because the talent is still there. But I FIRMLY believe they should've gone with a name change. Just out of respect.
Can't even hear him, but he is ceratinly lucky that Layne provided the mode and voice style to copy. Jerry Cantrell is lucky to have Layne still guiding his music to this very day.
RIP Layne, you are the guiding force still behind this great band.
So far I have downloaded "Check My Brain" & "A Looking in View" and they are both great songs. Even without Layne this band is still better than most bands that are out right now. I could eat a can of alphabet soup and crap out better retort than all the duVall haters on here.
they're the founders of grunge, and they're saving grunge.... DuVall sounds great.... Layne is the greatest... long live AIC.... anyone hatng on this bang is an ignorant prick that enjoys bitching
I wouldint quite say they alone are the founders of grunge, thats a bit unfair to all the other bad ass grunge bands. But they were deffenetly a huge part in it without a doubt! Love me some alice in chains not the same without layne though.. rip layne
true but at least they are not sellouts and they still sound like they did back in the day but without Layne at least they don't sound like the gay ass bands out nowadays
yeah but no one really knew who they were b4 94 with superunknown.. im just saying alice came out with three singles b4 any1 gave 2 shits about nirvana.. i actually love every "grunge" band except them because they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated
Loved that they premièred this in Dublin, feel privileged to be among he first people int he world to hear it, this is gonna be a great album... I HOPE!
they played this a sonisphere ...... f£$ken great song,,, this album is gonna bring that 90s grunge feelin back to the 2009 and beyond!!!!!!!!! AIC FOREVER.
Badass. This place looks TINY for an Alice in Chains concert. In the 90's they would be playing in a sold out arena

Afros are welcome in metal: Melvins Hendrix, At the drive in, suffocation, etc.
