There's no getting around the fact that Predators is simply a re-tread of Predator; a clique of killers are stalked in an arboreal environment by an alien.
Only the surface details differ - mercs / murderers instead of soldiers, alien jungle instead of Earth jungle, a clan of Yautja instead of one. There's too many "homages" to the original flick, like the female character revealing she knows more about their situation than she's letting on, Brody caked in mud, a trap malfunction...
The only problem i had with this movie were those "Alpha Predators". I kinda wished they woulda just left it with the normal ones that were all used too.

If the sun doesn't move then it's fair there wouldn't be sun on the otherside of the planet, however unless it has another sun on the other side, that side of the planet would be frozen. Plus, they go to the Predator camp in light and darkness, it's the same camp, not one on the otherside of the planet.
10 reasons why this movie sucked -jumps right into being on another planet w/o explaining why -Overuse of curse words -Unneeded characters -Changing a scene from the trailer -"Sun doesn't move" yet later in the movie its night -Lame 1v1 sword guy vs predator scene -Predator vs Predator scene -Predator doesnt kill the last humans right away but instead throws 2 of them into a pit and throws the 1 guy to the floor -Random plot twists -Bad ending with saying "Now lets find a way off this planet"
I guess that by comparing this film to the first film, it slightly answers Arnold's question when he asked the Predator "what are you?" at the end of the first film. Yet, leaving the audience on a new planet with the same ending as the last film. We still have much to learn about the alien Predators. Brody's character definitely showed some excellent leadership skills in this movie.

One more thing confused me in this movie. Adrien Brody suspects they are not on earth when he notices that the sun hasn't moved. If so, then why is it night time in the last third of the film? Did the directors just forget that the sun wasn't moving, or is there some rational explanation?

Nice film, not as good as Predator but alot better than AVP 1/ 2 and Predator 2. Short, sharp and sweet with a nice cast. Nice to see the orignal predator again, and touch on the classes like in the books. Just hope they dont make another one and make it all come crashing down...

Lawrence Fishburne got killed way too quick. He should have been the main bad guy.
Revealing the murderer's identity was really forced, like it was added to the plot as an afterthought.
The predator v predator fight leaves you completely cold (who cares?)
The predator v yakuza fight looked disjointed and clumsy.
The predator v brody fight was the same as the predator v schwarzenegger fight. So much for them adapting...

Alan Silvestri's score to the original, in my opinion, is a fantastic work..
Not to mention how great the movie is. One only needs look at how many knock off movies involving the predator have been made. We keep hoping for its equal, this seems like it could be closer than others.

@99centENTERTAINMENT I like to think the big ones as alphas, the tied up one would be an example of the small ones and the final one is one of the bigger ones, notice slight difference in the face

@HeavyMetalRayman So all the ones in the movie we have seen before have been small ones? Wow! I like how the "small ones" can actually kill someone, unlike the "big super alpha predators" get killed by 1 on 1 by a yakuza with a katana. And at the end when the two preds fight. The big pred uses his plasma caster, but the small one has class, and respect onle uses fist and wrist blades. Small Predators For the win! Thumbs up if you agree!

One more thing confused me in this movie. Adrien Brody suspects they are not on earth when he notices that the sun hasn't moved. If so, then why is it night time in the last third of the film? Did the directors just forget that the sun wasn't moving, or is there some rational explanation?

Idk, maybe whatever planet they are on still has night and day, but instead of the sun moving after whatever time interval, it just stays in the same spot Another thing that me was that Adrien Brody said the exact same line as Arnold at the end. "kill me, kill me now!" I thought that was kind of cheezy if you ask me.

@99centENTERTAINMENT Yeah, a LOT of lines were taken from earlier Predator movies, like "over here...turn around..." "the enemy of my enemy..." and others I can't recall right now.
I'm split on this film. I really liked the action, and the Predator effects, but I wished they'd do something more original. It copied the original too closely: a small group of men, one with a hidden agenda, with one woman in tow, in a jungle, getting picked off one by one...
Good, but could be better.

and the Big one that was freed won the fight, you can clearly tell, and if he lost it wouldnt make sense, plus you can see him use HIS remote to blow up HIS ship.

Nice film, not as good as Predator but alot better than AVP 1/ 2 and Predator 2. Short, sharp and sweet with a nice cast. Nice to see the orignal predator again, and touch on the classes like in the books. Just hope they dont make another one and make it all come crashing down...

@Billydutch1 Although I don't totally agree (I didn't find the avps hateable), I agree that a sequal to this that brings back the same cast or is set on the same planet would be a bad Idea. Sequal of some form seems sadly inevitable though.

Not terrible. By no means great but the first 2 movies werent exactly cinematic masterpieces and this is by FAR the best directed of any of the 5 movies that the predator has been in if not the best written.

@robskim101 Yeah haha it was in the movie except it was only 1 laser. They must have added a bunch to make it look cooler. It happened at the part where they escape the ship where the black guy was living and then right before he gets blown away the prisoner stabs the predator in the back.

the plot and the characters were better in the original predator. It was the type of movie which I am compelled to watch every time it is on tv. I cant say the same for this one.

uh, predators isnt the sequel to predator, its the 3rd installment of the predator saga which includes predator, predator 2, alien vs predator, alien vs predator requiem, and then predators, not to mention the fact that there is a comic book series that the movie follows with its concept.

@NotCliffyB, no, i know that avp is a spinoff sereis unrelated to the movies, but they are still related to the predator history, but they are ot related to the predator movie plots. i already knew that. thats why i said the 3rd installment. its basically predators 3. the alien vs predator movie just showed the relations between human and predators, and established the wayland yutani corporation from alien.

its not a sequel or a remake. 1 how could it be a sequel if theres already a sequel to the first predator movie? 2 this movie was alright but people just look at it in the sense that its a fucking sequel! its a reboot its supposed to be an all new take on the series. honestly people need to go see movies with more open eyes.

this movie was not as good as i expected... but nevertheless, it was still entertaining... but the problems i had with this movie...
1. some scenes were ripped off from the original predator movie
2. adrien brody is not convincing as an action hero
3. it wasn't scary and suspenseful
4. some parts moved very slow
5. the special effects in the first predator were better
6. theres a scene where two predators fight each other.. as if the avp movies werent bad enough.. we need a pvp movie now
