Problem with Duffy is that whilst she sings with alot of character and soul it is all on the surface. Her range is limited and that rasping voice can drag after a while. You cannot call her the greatest because hers is not a genuine singing voice. That my opinion anyway.

@tinker1960 I would have agreed with you that Duffy's voice is "all surface" after hearing the studio album. It sounded a bit like some studio trickery and so forth.

But...I have seen her live and she actually has quite a bit of power and can hit notes from her diaphragm. You are right, she doesn't have a tremendous range, but her voice is definitely real and she delivers the goods in a live setting. The concert was damned good. I am more of a fan after seeing her live.

You're right, in a way. I wouldn't say that Duffy has a MORE original voice or look. Duffy has a very classy look, but you won't see anyone looking like Amy walking down the street:P.
