The title of the movie refers to a scene in the movie. The scene showes Mimi inside of an airplane watching the moon while at the same moment Oscar watches the same moon after leaving the airplane just before it takes of. With leaving the airplane he hopes he can make her despise him and open her eyes that she is better of without him.
