  • Nice video with the perspective and so on, it would be interesting to see a few cities like this, no commentary, just to leave it to one's own interpretation and to see the differences in the people on the street- I'm too short at 5' something to do this lol myself....

  • From now on I will try and get something like this from every city I visit :)

  • Cool :-) !

  • No commentary??? :(

  • I could do a voiceover LOL

  • that's what I call 'keeping it real!' - liked the showgirls at the end! :)

  • The showgirls were rather unreal even though the shorter one pinched my butt :)

  • Reminds me of Amsterdam... Wide, clean sidewalks; bunch of white people; luggage here and there; and a few sleeveless shirts.

  • Did you encounter any beggars? I always found the beggars much more interesting.

  • I don't need to go to San Francisco for beggars. I used to get them on my doorstep right here in Victoria...

  • I have never been to Amsterdam,,, Someday, maybe :)

  • cinema verite at its best!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Cool.

  • It's definitely worth a visit...

  • Were you holding the camera over your head or are you just amazingly tall?

  • I'm actually a little under average height but I have good reach... I found that the "bird's eye just under the radar"

perspective usually makes people look more attractive...

  • Love SF. Were you filming this off stilts? The people seemed dwarfed a bit.

  • I was holding my camera arm as high as I could :)

  • At last, a true non-digital effect!

  • Low-tech solutions result from a low budget...

  • I know how it feels. But I like celebrating low-fi art production; it might be an illusion to fall for the romantic side of it, but there is something of merit to a reduced toolset. Ideal conditions for out-of-the-box results (and all that).

  • OK, Now I get you... This is about as minimalist as it gets. I use a cheap digital camera, import the raw file into iMovie08, and tack on an outro at the end... Looking at it again, I can't believe how incredibly beautiful the weather was. No wonder I enjoyed the trip so much :)

  • The quality of your videos seems fine enough given what you're using. I use a low-end digital camera as well. It's about content and composition anyway :)

The weather in SF, warm one minute, cool breeze the next: loved it.

  • My life is divided into life before the palm trees were planted in the Embarcadero and life after the palm trees went in. Life after is so much better.

  • The boulevard would look rather naked without them...

  • I hope you rode a cable car at least once.

    :-)

  • Nope... We ended up saving that experience for our next SF visit... We did manage to see and do a lot in the two days that we had there. We did Pier 39, Alcatraz, The Haight, Lombard Street, enjoyed fine dining at least three times, and I still have a full day's worth of SF footage that I haven't looked at yet since April... I bet there's some good stuff in that April 16 folder :)

  • That's a sidewalk?! It's wider than Cornwall!

  • Perhaps it's a Cornwallk..

  • There would be better chances of that in Iowa than in California :)

  • At last it's wider than those roads you showed us :)

  • It sure is. Hell of a long walk to cross the road!

  • Growing up in Montreal I got used to it :)

  • Please tell me you DIDN'T go to Pier 39!!!

  • LOL We spent half a day there and got lots and lots of footage :)

  • Interesting video, Andy. San Francisco looks very beautiful. I thought about visiting San Francisco once, and some guy with beads and sandels said "be sure to wear some flowers in your hair." I thought he was very strange, so I moved to Florida instead LOL

  • Jeez, Steve. Why didn't you pick Minnesota or Alaska?

Funny-looking guys with beads and sandals are usually quite harmless :)

  • Love SF, esp down at the piers...

Scott tapped me doing some street begging by Pier 39 (after my job was outsourced to India - I was experimenting with different jobs that possible couldn't be outsourced)

must dig out that footage & post it. ;)

  • Oh, that would be too cool... I see that when your job was outsourced to India you tried to take up one of those noble professions that India was outsourcing... Clever :)

  • That was a cool chopper bycicle that went by!

  • bycicle?

  • You should see some of the home-design recumbent bikes that some people pedal around here. Maybe one day I will get some weird bike footage :)

  • OH, there's a taxi! Is Quiggy driving it?

    Mooz

  • Nope! This was a vacation, Mooz!

  • Not down by Piers Morgan, then?? :)

  • Never heard of him :)

  • You're a lucky man.. (I take it they don't broadcast 'America's got talent' in Canada then.. but I guess you have enough of your own talent anyway..) :)

  • I'm sure they broadcast everything from the US here. I just never watch any of it because I'm on here all the time :)

  • I haven't been in San Fran in 40 years!

    OMG ~ I'm old!

    Mooz

  • Some parts probably didn't change too much...
