  • OMG I just read the description, have you heard of the saying horses for courses? I hope you suggested to the owners to sell the pony to a home where collection will not be asked for, having the vet scope the horse and possibly surgery to remove scar tissue would be the most humane course of treatment. . . would you also make a pony run around like that if you suspected a pelvic fracture?

  • @ArteSuaveNZ Horse Vetterd sound for the pleasure rein but no collection. Been happy ever since. I won't answer the silly second part of your question. I save at lease two horses a week. how many do you save?

  • I dont understand why make this horsey have breathing probs?

  • @dappledbaybeauty Because of a Throat Problem. Scar tissue in the throat. regards

  • @horseproblems oh okay then thank you :D

  • Just what I wanted to see-- a man torture a pony that can't breath. Heart breaking. What in the world did the pony get from having its head tied to its chest.

  • @riddiler007 What you just saw my Friend is the release of the Horse from it's ridden turmoil of many Years, at Pony Club, to a happy loose rein Pleasure Horse and a full Veterinary investigation including scoping. I listened to the Horse. Would you have?

  • Ah, just learning about the thread thing-and using my lateral mind to make a comment. I am not cranky....life is too short for that. Am listening. Do you mean the Dutch system and PK cause the same sort of problems? Will repost on another more suitable forum, though. Incidentally, I would have thought that even a life of trail riding would be cruel for this pony- any riding......some of them can just be lovely paddock mates...........poor little treasure.

  • @TheGladcam No, Trail riding for a Kid was fine because it was only the collection that caused the breathing problem. That is why thee were various degrees of collection in my test that I was running. The Horse could be Dead....true??? It is not and it is as happy as Hell. I rest my case.

What I meant about Phillip Karl system of riding is this. Briefly.....it promotes a more "Hollow' Horse in Dressage Terms than say the Dutch systems. Therefore, if susceptible in any way, they are diminished

  • @TheGladcam Diagnozed fine on a pleasure rein with no collection, by Vets.

  • Hi back-my comment 5 days ago was NOT about this pony. I can see and hear this poor fella's problem. It was a general statement about a trainer who is passionate about correct work in dressage. I can see why you said what you said but hang on a minute- I am not listening to my horse or horses? How do you jump to that statement? Open your mind a little, or look beyond a bit. There are other people doing good work too. PK is one. I might have even been agreeing with you......reread my comment

  • @TheGladcam Apologies. I then can't understand why you would be talking about Phillip Karl on this thread though?????? Incidentally, it is my opinion that the PK system, diminishes longitudinal muscles and exposes Horses to more physical problems rather than building them, as in the Dutch systems. Now you will be cranky :) Regards

  • Hi- I wonder if anyone here has seen Philippe Karl's classical dressage training. Hi is So particular about the horse's mouth and the poll being the highest point in TRUE collection. With his method, the larynx is not compromised- and he works on neck extensions before asking to raise- it is more about controlling the shoulder, then the neck. Check him out. Most poor horses are not in correct frame in Australia, we bend them behind the poll. True collection magnifies the horse's presence......

  • @TheGladcam Gladcam, your letter, whilst I thank you for it, is precisely why I do the job I do and why I take the time to put up videos like this. You are not listening to the Horse and no doubt, your Horses. That is a worry. Think about it. This is a VETERINARY PROBLEM. I saved the Horse from a life of Terror and whether it be PHILLIP KARL or God, any system provides Terror, pain and a sad life to afflicted Horses with Veterinary Problems. This Horse went to a life of Trail Riding. Regards

  • This little pony has you 2 thank - if you didn't pick up this problem it would have surely ended sadly. @ some comments left - You've explained your vid pretty well Mr HP - some people just aren't 2 clever! ;) Keep making these pods!

  • I lurn so much things in every video and i was choc of the sound the poney made. I didn t know a lot of horses can have breath problem. Thanks

  • Hi All. I have obviously not explained myself well on this. This video is to educate the many people who have HOrses with breathing problems but never know it. I have me hundreds. This was an extensive test, at different levels of collection, with a microphone attached to the HOrse, for Vets. In other words, I saved this Horse's life!!!!! and from a life of misery.

    regards

  • You explained yourself just fine, HP....some ppl, just don't understand....

I have a pony, that used to bolt like this as well...and I thought she was walking real fast....what gait, is she doing here? I have posted a video, of my little filly, doing a gait, that I don't know at all...she is sort of running, in the hind legs...and trotting up front...yes she is doing it in the stall, for this video, but she does do it outside as well....we had a lot of ice, and it was unsafe to let her out

  • You can get a horse to collect without cranking his face in to his chest. That looked rather painful. :( It's like bending a straw in half and then trying to breathe through it.

  • @VictorsChick4ever Are you brain dead Victor? That was veterinary investigation to save the dam Horse from a painful life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is what all you guys do when you ask your horse to collect. Every horse does this when collection is asked.

Want prove? Buy a microphone and a recorder and attach it to your horses head.

When the horse is "at freedom" it is able to breathe regularly as you can hear an it doesn't take as much effort.

What this guy is trying to prove is that what we ask of our horses (collection) is bad for them. Compare the breathing sounds.

I think he proved his point here!

  • @MsShahazai You just don't get it Man

  • pony needs a vet and aside from the breathing it looks off. All in all very sad.

  • sounds like a pony which needs to retire from dressage and go onto something where no collection is needed....like......trail riding

poor girl, hope she gets better

  • @kittykat8606 That's exactly where it did go, thanks to this investigation and our empathy

  • The sound is in every place at the same volume, not louder when the pony is closer. Trick??

My pony doesn't make that sound, so I think the pony has Cornage or something like that. Bad condition also ;)

  • The sound is of the same volume in every place, because the mic is attached to the pony, somewhere close enough to pick up the breathing sounds.

  • What are you trying to prove here? That you have no feelings for horses? Why in heaven's name are you making the draw reins so thight, all the poor pony can do is run and fight against it? With that, making one side thighter than the other makes no sense to.

With that, of course it's breathing get's better after removing the reins, it A doesn't have to fight against the pressure anymore, B, it's run for minutes so it got used to using his breath.

You have no clue about horses at all.

  • The breathing does improve slightly without the running reins, but even with the complete freedom of the pony's head still results in a terrible collapsing/swelling of the airway. Mr. HP knows exactly what he is doing and what he is looking for!

  • Improve slightly, yes. But that doesn't prove his point. The poor pony can only run because HE makes him run.

  • Don't say that. It's to test a horse's breathing. My vet had done this to test breathing before. He knows what he's doing. The pony is under the same exact pressure when being ridden, and even more so. This is not abuse. Think twice before making pathetic comments, please. It only makes you look rather pathetic yourself. And, by the way, the pony can run even if he didn't make him.

  • nice video! i love ur pony! nice mic immpressions!

  • Great idea using the mic! I think you were probably right about a problem with the airways.

Many people think they need a better/stronger trainer for a misbehaving horse, when sometimes all they need is some vet advice, because it's a physical issue. I've seen some cruel things done to blind horses, and it gets me SO mad!!

  • my pony does the same thing hes bolted with my brothers and me hes 15 and 12hh do you think i should get him looked at by the vet if i tye his head down he grunts a bit like this and if i ride him in just a snaffle i cant get his head down at all

by the way that pony loves you haha how long where you working with her

  • sounds terrrible, did the vet find what was wrong??

  • Gee...sounds like those calls I sometimes get. Ha ha. And...your clothes look fine.

  • yes lovely little pony

  • free

  • was that the ponys breathing i could hear?

  • Yes, the Pony had an airways problem imho, which is why I checked and recorded it running freem with the head partially down and then fully down. It went home to be looked at by the Vets. Sweet little one :)

  • @horseproblems

That sounds like a heck of a problem with the airways!

Could the vets help him with that?
