I played this game when it first came out . Only now, 19 years later, after watching it the context that it's "racist" am I realizing the character getting punched is black. If that's Joe, and this intro was originally going to be used for Final Fight (formally titled Street Fighter '89), while his look in this intro resemble Cody's (protagonist of Final Fight), then perhaps Joe and Cody are the same character. Their curved jumping kick attacks also look alike.

The Black guy is 'Mike' and the White guy is 'James,' from Street Fighter 1. They were bosses u had to fight- but here they are 'street fighting' as the name of the game implies.

Oops - I meant Joe- not James. U can find vids of SF1 on youtube and see Mike and Joe both use that fighting style - although in that intro Joe is wearing the shirt instead of Mike.

Um....no. In the SF1 Intro, Joe was wearing a jacket that had the SF logo on it. The sprites, however, MIKE was wearing a t-shirt and Joe just had red pants and grey footpads. And they're not using street fighting, by the way. If you actually took a look at the characters' moves and artowrk, you'll see that Joe does kickboxing and Mike does boxing. And it's pretty obvious that Mike does boxing; he doesn't kick AT ALL when you fight him.

The Megadrive (Genesis) version even has the intro edited so that it is two white guys fighting.
