S'alright. Don't know why I keep hearing people say this could be 'Better than Hammer' - If anything all I see you do is create simple brushes and copying. Nothing special here. In fact it seems to be a bit more mechanical than Hammer.
However I will grant you the ability to amaze ignorant people who have no conception of what is good and bad in the industry of Map Editors.
Let me add here that 2009/Q2 means the second quarter of 2009... as you might imagine, the program is already more advanced than that. There are more videos in my account that you could comment on.
I've been mapping with hammer for 6 years and I've found that my overall work time has significantly decreased with the use of this software. This software was created to make brush-work faster and more efficient and not replace the overall Hammer Editor. It's a program to assist mappers.
Why don't you ask Shrinker for a copy of the Alpha and try it out for yourself before making assumptions.
At least I've the expierence with both editors to make an overall intelligent thought.
wow shrinker and other peers who are in such a field that fascinates me. my likeness is a form or art as well. music, comics and poems. i am extremely fascinated with this program you use to do such things i perceive as amazing. for me, this being my first time to see such a prgm its like a 15 yrold kid hearing Jimi Hendrix, or Pink Floyd. i hope you all get a kick out of the joy ppl get from sharing such amazing expressions of human ability
Hello Shrinker, that looks like an excellent piece of software you made! I'm currently still very new to mapping (still working on my first map >_> ) so I had a couple of questions for you:
-How easy is this to learn? Would you recommend it to a beginner to the source sdk? (although the inabilty to test lightning would make it a tad harder for newbs i guess)
-Will it be able to convert directly to .vmf?
Not sure if I'll ever use this, but this looks like a great app!
This tool is of experimental nature, especially in terms of interface design, and instead of providing intuitive icons for everything, I depend on proper shortcuts. This of course makes for a very steep learning curve at first, so you should solely depend on Hammer as a beginner. Conversion will be done with an external tool, which is also not just point and click... yeah, this can be considered a pretty advanced piece of software, when it is released later :)
Hey there Shrinker, I am working as a Lead Level Designer for a modification called Outbreak: Condemned. Whenever this is released, hit me up, I'd like to use it in the development of the mod. Also, I work with creating Hammer video tutorials, so if you'd like me to make some video tutorials based on this software (when of course it's released) let me know. ;)
