My inspirations for drumming are guys like Joey Jordison, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Mike Wengren...I came across Barker about two years ago. I can play better than him now, but at first--not even close. I must say that I'm thankful for Barker because I worked hard to get past his level and honestly, for that reason, Travis Barker is one of my biggest inspirations.
travis barker is one of the greats.......he is the drummer that sets the standard for all drummers around the world......he is my inspiration.......and the reason why i took up drumming in the first place......i have seen him at his very very best .......he is only remixing songs in these vids.....look up his solos.....by himself.....trust me he doesnt suck

Regardless of his speed or style, the guy laid down some of the best drum tracks I have heard in pop-punk on the Enema and TOYPAJ albums, noone was playing drums in pop punk like he was. People are saying how simple his playing is... what's wrong with simple playing? Personally if i heard someone playing anything more than what Travis is doing I would consider them a bad drummer. Every note is hit perfectly and he didn't over do it with intrinsic rudiments. He is so underrated in my opinion

Fuck yeah he's an amazing drummer prick. You don't know jack shit if you only know him by hearing him play with Rihanna and other mainstream crap. You don't get as well known as him by sounding like a 5 year drummer. You have to be good. The best? By all means no, he is not. But to say he is playing "wrong" or is just doing things to make him sound/look better, you are just ignorant, jealous, or stupid. Jesus Christ I get more angry every time I watch one of his videos. Fuck, no. He is not an amazing drummer. Any real drummer can plainly see he has average talent. Any 5 year drummer can perform anything he does. People just think he's amazing because he stands out because he hits the set so hard and performs mainstream music with famous people like Rihanna, fuck you Travis. Check out Joel Piper or Rush.

As professionals go, he's not even in the top 50. Thomas Pridgen (a REAL shirtless drummer), Tony Royster, Damien Schmidtt, Neal Peart, Will Kennedy, Horatio Hernandez..... the list of masterful drummers goes on and on.....

Buddy Rich could do the same kind of fast rolls Travis does with one hand. Just saying. The dude was a beast. And the 3 foot stick height really bothers me. It doesn't make you look better, and you can easily play louder using just your wrists. He just kind of looks....... stupid. Congrats. You can play a sixteenth note pattern on your hi hats. Now play right.

If you like him or the band that is great, but dont make statements like "He is the worlds fastest" because he isn't. I could give you 20+ names of well known drummers faster than him. I will give you one for now, i am not claiming he is the best or fastest, just a lot faster than travis. Thomas Pridgen check him out if you wanna see fast.
