@Pilsenaaa Yes. It basically have front wheel drive until it is 4x4 locked (or computer pass some power to rear wheels) - front wheels are always engaged. You do not see front wheels spin because the one on the other side of the car is spinning.
All the wheels seem to be on the ground, thus with 4x4 lock engaged and the ESP full-off the 4 wheels must work. Did you have the ESP on or mid-off??.
@infusorio although it seems so, rear right and front left where barely touching the ground and they where spinning freely. I was saved once I deflated wheels.
I also have a 2008 Pat CRD loading Yokohama AT-S G012 tires and when running with 4WD locked and ESP fully-off, the car works much better than this, thus, I can not understand the shitty performance of the Pat showed. In any case, it is a tough task to convert the Pat into a real off-road toy in Europe (no FD II, no lift kit, no skid plates, too low front bumper, OEM highway tires, etc.....), the best stuff of the car is the diesel engine from Volkswagen.
Well, here you see factory Continentals, which is summer car tire, nothing to do with 4wd. And, well, yes, I agree, engine is great, but patriot is not bad either.
@AndroBoy Subaru do not have any shops in my country. For Outlander I FULLY AGREE!!! But, at the time I was buying Patriot, it was 6000eur more expensive (10,000 USD in 2008).
Nope. It is FD1. It is most unfortunate equation - diesels comes only with manual transmission, FD2 comes only with CVT2, thus there are no diesels with FD2.
Good work on really testing out your jeep. One bit of advice, when you find the wheels starting to spin don't let up on the gas, keep the wheels spinning that way the brake lock differential will kick in and send power to the wheels not spinning, you'll get hungup less
Get yourself some real 4WD tyres and maybe a bit more driving practice and you will succeed. The Patriot is fantastic off-road - I have had no trouble
did you lock 4x4? it seems to me that only your rear wheels are spinning
