Temples (Or any Archaeological things like forts, lakes etc) maintained and managed by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) charges nominal fee of INR 5 for Indians and INR 50.
The fees charged by ASI are for maintenance and research purposes, so that we can preserve such gems, and discover many such archaeological wonders!
@vic86m I have been going to India since 1986 and have spent a total of 4 years of my life there. I have never been asked nor have I paid to enter a temple. And as I said I would refuse to pay 1 rupee. Temples are places of worship and to have to pay to enter is 'beyond my pale'. I have been denied entrance in a rare few such as the 'Golden Temple' in Benares which used to be Hindu only although now it is open to all.
Perhaps as a Hindu you are almost required to donate or be shamed. I have never ever seen an official 'toll both', as it were, at a temple. And if I were to see an Entrance Fee at a place of worship I would just refuse to enter! Sure I donate to the Purjari at my pleasure, but never as a demand. Let them curse me it's his Karma not mine.
It's amazing how the BAPS Swaminarayan Religion creates the temple according to the ancient "Vastu Shastra" a.k.a Indian Science of Architecture and yet manage to keep it modernized in the animatronics etc
After watching this exquisite spiritual creation of this temple,my consciousness asks me
what if India was totally free from corruption of all forms, and the many seemingly unsolved problems of India, were to be solved in the "spirit of the volunteerism and
devotion" of "Dharma" ? ..India truely would be the Heavenly place to reside. But
the realities of modern day India,is so overwhelming,I wonder if its average citizen can
ever be free from the "hypocrisy from within" in its many forms.
Totally amazing workmanship! Astounding talent of so many people. Compare that to Disney world- where people pay so much money to see second-rate stuff.
Well it's true that it's very beautiful and impressive and I kinda like the evocation to India's Antique Past with the many sculptures BUT it still remains a new building... It's like building a gigantic Cathedral or Pyramid today, it can never equal the Great Temples of the past because they were built without modern technologies and are truly historical monuments
AND this is clearly a VANITY PROJECT by a megalomaniac religious leader
I added a link to this video and his page, I am going to the bartlett BAPS temple next week. This place is awesome. Jai Shree Krishna! Check out my blog theyuha.blogspot.com after you go to the other videos by portaltoindia.
Sorry you are wrong! Most of the work was done by hand (i.e. all of the hand carving, all of the stone blocks for the structures) using tools not much more advanced than would be used 500 years ago. It is a testament to the great skills of the Indians.
@mewoone How could it advance Tajmahal or tajmahal could advance it? Zboth are completely different types of building coming from different traditions. Plus one a temple other a mausoleum.
@mewoone the taj mahal isnt indian..Yes the marble was Indian, the workers were Indian, the land is India, and the money providied for it is by Indians...but IT IS NO STRUCTURE OF LOVE but rather murder...of thhe workers who were killed/mutilated after it was created..NO ONE VOLUNTEERED FOR THE TAJ MAHAL AND AKSHARDHAM IS A MONUMENT OF VOLUNTEERISM...NO ONE WAS KILLED IN THE MAKING and KIDS as far as America collected money for this they voved to give up candy/clothes and used that money forthis
it's great to know that akshardham was built in 5 years..it's just unbelievable..if any of you have chance to go to india then please visit this first...you'll sure forget taj mahal..not saying taj mahal isn't great but this is like a god's house which you want live in here forever
i specially went to india to see this temple and i must say it was great...sad thing was i didn't have chance to look inside temple because there was some incident happened..little fire took place because of electric short-circuits but still outside of temple was worth watching it..lived there for 2 days in guest room of akshardham and i must say felt like living in heaven.
Wow, That's impressive! There is nothing like India and Vedic culture on this planet. I am American and was exposed to the teachings of Bhagavad-gita by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada back in 1976. I've been to many holy places and temples in India and never get tired of this fascinating culture. Everything from the food (prasadam) to music to people to language to dance to literature and architecture it's all nothing but AWESOME! No other culture or place even comes close. Hare Krsna!
Great temple, and great architecture. India is back on the path of Glory of the past. A must see temple. It was due for a city like Delhi to have such a marvelous temple. It contains the beauty of old archeology combined with new facilities for viewers. A Majestic temple.
Most of the old Temples and monuments have been grabbed by the Govt. They run it very badly. The staff are very rude and the worst part is one has to pay entry fee. In some Hindu Temples one can see signs 'Only Hindus allowed'. It is quite shocking to see people being turned away from a place of worship. Indian Govt. should completely hand back all the monuments to organisations like this.
its all thanks to shree pramukh swami. i went there last year and was amazed by how organised the temple is. people from all over the world should come and see Akshardham as they will learn about the Swaminarayan Religion and about India and its culture.
A mordern temple in 100% ancient Vedic Style ..its nice to know that even after years of oppression Hindus have not forgotten their Ancient Heritage and the teachings of Saints. From Muni Narad to Bhagwan Swaminarayan to Sri Pramukh SwamiJi it is saints like these who have kept the Vedic Dharma Alive & no matter what Anti-Hindus say , think or do , as long as Saints like Pramukh Swami are there, nothing can happen to the religion of the Rishis.
@gllladki The entry to the temple is completely free.. the fees for the movies is like 200 rs. or 5$ and is totally worth it. I was there a couple of months ago.. a totally wonderful place
yes it is 100% free becoz i have been there and it was no charges are there, and i like the security of this Mandir, and it is verrrrrrrrrrryyyy big. wow i am lucky to see these kind of Man Created Wonder, it is very nice and huge...i like it

@adamchandan Don't forget the laws of karma and incarnation!I'm a Westerner in this body but I'm sure I was a Hindu in many of my past lives,it is simply in my soul. But you might have been one"stupid world baboon' in your previous life so taking about our ancestors in the light of reincarnations does not matter much.I never liked Christianity(I'm Polish)and I was instantly attracted to Vedic spiritual philosophy. Some Hindus turn away from their amazing culture.So...
BTW, i saw an amazing movie called "Spiritual India" that talked about sage neelakantha who formed the Akshardham sect. I saw the movie in a 3D theater in a philadelphia museum. I recommend it strongly to anyone interested in spirituality.
You can say the same thing nicely. Don't be angry but try to dispel ignorance in a rational, calm manner. That will have more effect. All that u say is true but the world does not know it. Some weserners are beginning to learn about all this. Hence the popularity of yoga, meditation etc in US today.
I just came back from Delhi and visited this beautiful place. When you are inside it's like being in a magical place. This is by far my best place in the wold. I also visited the Taj-Mahal, but nothing compares to this place. Just amazing and breathtaking !!!
This place was absolutely beautiful and amazing I've been there once like when I was 7 or something and I have to say I will remember it for the rest of my life.

hypocrite people should refrain from posting such stupid things here. (the one about taj mahal being a temple once).
Akshardham mandir in delhi is a must see for anyone and everyone who's traveling to Delhi. It's also different in the way that at the end of the day, it teaches u a lot through the various shows.
and volunteers they are really helpful and dedicated.
WOW Holy shit, most monuments consist of a single sculpture or statue, the whole building is made from millions of sculptures.
It's a shame no one builds like this anymore, all we have is shitty skyscrapers. Akshardham >>>> Taj.
Question to the indians. Why is it that most of your buildings has adopted Islamic Art, which still looks awesome but you have your own style which is just as good or even better.
Answers to porkinmycorkhole: Just FYI...Islam religion came into existinace 630...where as Hindu religion takes you back to 5000 BC....we had similar temples with same art well before existance of Islam...and Cristianity too...
Answers to porkinmycorkhole: Just FYI...Islam religion came into existinace in year 630 AD...where as Hindu religion takes you back to year 5000 BC....we had similar temples with same art well before existance of Islam...and Cristianity too...
ooga001- that is the problem with christians/muslims, they don't understand religion and have no business speaking of something so utterlySacred as Hinduism
Great video. Though I am a Muslim from Pakistan, yet I really love such historical places. Not matter whatever religion they belong to. I also am bringing awareness here in Pakistan to preserve the budhist and hindu ruins in Pakistan.
It's just wow!!!. Worth to be the 8th wonder in the world. I'am from Mauritius and visited it in Nov 06 and I can say that this was the greatest place I visited over New Delhi, Jaipur & Agra.
How does the taj mahal get more recognition then this monument. Must be the story behind the Taj, because this structure looks more spectacular. The fountains reminded me of the Bellagio Fountains. so many cultures and amazing places to explore, so little time.
A lot of Indians believe the Taj was converted, during in Mughal times and was originally of Hindu origin. This video makes me wonder, because some of the craftmanship does look similar.
It's an amazing structure though. I've always prefered this style, over the jagged cathdrals of europe.
@mewoone THE TAJ MAHAL was a shiva temple before it was taken over by muslims before they made alterations into a funeral home. The people that made the taj were indians who also made the temples, the muslims cam in captured the seat of power and then destroyed the amazing tempkes, and then MADE THE INDIANS OR KAFIRS, REBUILD IT IN THEIR IMAGE OF ISLAM....
a. The Taj Mahal is old, hence historic. This temple was built during this decade.
b. The Taj Mahal has the added tag of "Monument of Love" which brings the tourists in. Whether it is truly a monument of love is debatable, but it brings in money into the Indian economy via tourism. In this modern day, money means a lot so one can't complain.
This is build in 2005....There is no advertisement for this place anywhere like Taj......The only means by which people know about this place is word of mouth....that's y....I was disappointed to see Taj as I saw this monument first....I will recommend people to see Taj first and then watch Akshardham....
Thank you for putting this up. This is the video that motivated to go and see the temple with my family, and the experience was so beautiful. I truly hope all those who read this are also moved.
Awesome! Truly, an amazing feat. Put together, 1500 years of architectural wonder at a glance. Millenniums of Indian culture and glory to showcase. A spiritual abode to the blessed seekers of immortal wisdom. Glory of the ancient Vedas and Upanishads in a capsule. What more could India give to the world? A wave of humanity sweeps through the complex. Vibrancy at its core!!! A must see for every Indian and all visitors to India. India's Pride! Cheers to all the people at helm and temple workers!
Taj Mahal is not about Shahjahan's wife. It's a farce, a mistake made by historians caused by the Mughals. Taj Mahal is Tejomahalaya, it was siezed by the Mughals and "converted" to a mausoleum. The minarets were added during that time, do your research.
i second this opinion - well its a fact - it is tejomahalaya - a shiv temple. only if govt allows to reopen all the sealed rooms in tejomahalaya's basement.
Yes, just like the did to Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, Church of St. John the Baptist in Damascus, and the Parthenon and Acropolis in Athens. Add Minarets, claim as Muslim structure!
Take my advise 3 months traveling India is better than 1 year at Harvard! It's an inner journey. We only spend $25 US a day for everything. We stay in palatial hotels; of cause we have been going for since 1986, and know Maharajas and families that own many fantastic hotels. We pay nothing or perhaps $7US a day, other tourists may pay $50-$100. But even a newbie on his her own should be able to get by on $15US a day and live well!
Like Catholic churches who name their churches in honor of certain saints, i.e. St. Ann's Church, St Michael's, Akshardham was created to honor Swami Nayaran. Within the temple, however, all the deities are depicted. One can worship at the shrine of his or her choice, keeping in mind that all the deities are a manifestation on one god, "The I AM".

Taj mahal is a vedic Temple built by Rajput kings. Incest rascal shahjahan encroached & took it & duped the world about its authorship.
Google - stephen knapp Taj mahal a Hindu Temple
There is no such thing called Islamic architecture. 1000 years passed, We havent found any book of knowledge about Islamic architecture
SathuGopa 2 years ago 3
WOW Holy shit, most monuments consist of a single sculpture or statue, the whole building is made from millions of sculptures.
It's a shame no one builds like this anymore, all we have is shitty skyscrapers. Akshardham >>>> Taj.
Question to the indians. Why is it that most of your buildings has adopted Islamic Art, which still looks awesome but you have your own style which is just as good or even better.

because most Indians (HINDUS) are cowards and kowtow to the whims and fancies of untouchables (muslims/christians).

ooga001- that is the problem with christians/muslims, they don't understand religion and have no business speaking of something so utterlySacred as Hinduism

00tonytone 2 years ago 5
A lot of Indians believe the Taj was converted, during in Mughal times and was originally of Hindu origin. This video makes me wonder, because some of the craftmanship does look similar.
It's an amazing structure though. I've always prefered this style, over the jagged cathdrals of europe.
UnyieldingDefiance 2 years ago 6
@UnyieldingDefiance of course it is similar .. they took the same design!! but the original is the old one which is Taj
mewoone 1 year ago
@mewoone THE TAJ MAHAL was a shiva temple before it was taken over by muslims before they made alterations into a funeral home. The people that made the taj were indians who also made the temples, the muslims cam in captured the seat of power and then destroyed the amazing tempkes, and then MADE THE INDIANS OR KAFIRS, REBUILD IT IN THEIR IMAGE OF ISLAM....
TheDharmaArmyofASIA 1 year ago
SYLFan2008 2 years ago
This is build in 2005....There is no advertisement for this place anywhere like Taj......The only means by which people know about this place is word of mouth....that's y....I was disappointed to see Taj as I saw this monument first....I will recommend people to see Taj first and then watch Akshardham....

Taj Mahal is about Sajahan's 3rd or 4th Wife mausoleum. It can't be icon of love
Agree or disagree?
TamilKingdom 3 years ago 4
Taj Mahal is not about Shahjahan's wife. It's a farce, a mistake made by historians caused by the Mughals. Taj Mahal is Tejomahalaya, it was siezed by the Mughals and "converted" to a mausoleum. The minarets were added during that time, do your research.
TraptbyBenjamin 3 years ago 8
i second this opinion - well its a fact - it is tejomahalaya - a shiv temple. only if govt allows to reopen all the sealed rooms in tejomahalaya's basement.
crmanish 3 years ago 7
@TraptbyBenjamin

Thanks,

Who is the one they worship in this temple???
sevlarievlis 3 years ago 2
Like Catholic churches who name their churches in honor of certain saints, i.e. St. Ann's Church, St Michael's, Akshardham was created to honor Swami Nayaran. Within the temple, however, all the deities are depicted. One can worship at the shrine of his or her choice, keeping in mind that all the deities are a manifestation on one god, "The I AM".
