@MegaCalvinHobbes both, even Chuck Berry uses this style for R&R so it's versatile. Chuck uses a semi-hollow with humbuckers Gibson 335,345,355 etc. hope this helps
im doing a bit of scouting for a semi hollow guitar. im considering either this or the yamaha SA503 TVL (dont judge by the brand). any comments. im not sure which to buy.
I recently bought a sheraton II and want to change the pickups eventually. Looking to get more of a bluesy sound. I was just wonderin what changing the pots on the guitar does??? I heard that the stock pots aren't that great because they get scratchy and tend to be a bit noisy. Is that all that changing the pots does, clean it up??? Thanks and great playing.
I've watched your videos before buyinh a sheraton and now I have one =) I love it too!!! Thanks!!!
very nice playing,,bluestudio67 is right about his comment,,larry carlton also said that being simple is great in blues,,nice playing man,,im also a blues fanatic,,man can i ask about the string action of this guitar?thanks man..
i realy want this guitar in that exact colour but i can only find the leftie in it , i can play left handed to but not well enough to do the guitar justice do you know where i can find one, great playing , thanks
is the neck on these really thick like the newer dots,or like the gibson 60's slimmer necks? Cause I (stupidly) traded a 97 korean dot (awesome guitar,I miss it) for a POD mexican strat, and Ive been wanting a hollowbody ever since, but the new dots necks are way too thick for me.
Very nice laid back blues work. So nice to see after watching all of the shredders do their thing. You have a very good feel for the blues. Great job!
I had a sheraton 20 years ago,it even had the gibson logo in motherof pearl underneath the epiphone logo,.....some bastard stole it.But I have to agree with you johnERock ,.....it was top heavy.I play a Gretsch now and a really versitile Yamaha!
Wow, that was so sweet! Let that be a lesson to all you young Blues Cats out there that stumble over this tasty bit of playing, The Blues is about FEELING, not speed playing. I wanted to ask you, what year is your Sheraton II? The reason I ask is because the Sunburst on your guitar is a lot darker than what they are putting on the guitars they are selling today. I'm thinking of getting the natural. Your guitar sounds a lot like BB's Lucille. Must be the 57 classics.
This Sheraton is 1994. The color is "tobacco sunburst". Unfortunatelly it was discontinued, currently the sunburst is the "vintage sunburst", yellow/black.
See.... now here's a man who can play the blues. He hasn't fallen victim to the "watch me try to sound like Stevie Ray Vaughn" mentality. Tasty and sweet. I enjoyed this more than all the Look-At-Me stuff I see on Youtube.
Congratulations man! Great sound..very bluesy. Would you mind telling me what color is your guitar? I mean, the model. Because i´ve only found ebony, natural and sunburst, wich aren´t like yours. Thanks and once again, congratulations.
BluesZep, I can't believe you took these pickups out of your Sheraton! The sound (and playing) is truly magical. I am afraid that Classic '57 pickups might not sound as good as these heard in this video. By the way, did you find out (once they were out) if they were just stock pickups?
By the way, I purchased Sheraton II two months ago, and mine is 14 years old, I guess stock pickups, and it sounds more like John Lee Hooker, where yours has BB King sound. I use Fender Blues Junior. Regards!
Hi, I've already changed the pickups. In my honest opinion, it's a new guitar. The sounds with C57 are more articulated, and open. The neck pickup was stock, but bridge one was an unidentified pickup. The previous owner told me was a 490T, but it hasn't the Gibson logo.
Congrats for your Sheraton, it's a very nice guitar (sound, feel and look). Mine is 14 years old too, and with these new pickups and new jumbo frets, I'm in love with her again.
Thank you so much for the answer! With this information, I can estimate how much Peavey Classic 30 contributes to the sound (Guitar -> Pickups -> Amp). But the main contribution is still in your fingers! Your playing is very mature, and extremely enjoyable.
I'm really digin' the peavy. I've always thought peavys to be durable and innexpensive. I've never known them for having good tone. You truely have some nice equipment.
